We may try turning forum search on again soon, after we upgrade the forum to vB 3.03. The tentative date for the forum upgrade is next weekend. It's a minor version upgrade and should take less than an hour.
I'm thinking using a basic cross-indexing based on member names and thread titles. It doesn't even have to be updated every second. This should save server time and allow for quick member post/threads search.
I've never really used Forum search, but that's probably because it hasn't been enabled for long as long as I have been here. That said, I don't miss it from the brief time we had it.
I'd like to at least search people's posts (at the very least, search my posts). There are some things I'd like to find, which I won't be able to find otherwise.

Of course! The next version always fixes this versions shortcomings.
When we get a server with adequate resources, the search will be turned back on. It does take quite a bit of resources to run it, and we're experiencing more users than we ever have before. Be patient, we're working on it.
Glad I found this thread. What I really miss most about not having search is the function of just looking at my prior posts. I'm constantly forgetting where I saw some tidbit of info and my google searches don't always do a good job of finding them.
Anyone know what you'd put in google just to pull your own posts/threads?
Also, another community I post to a lot uses vB3 and it just seems to me that the search function is somewhat FUBAR there.
