Sentus Populusque Rmnus

Well you never know where the goodie-huts are on the map and there's no point in trying to reach a specific civilization thus I usually put scouts on auto-explore. The only exception is when I see a goodie-hut. In that case, I personally guide the scout on the correct path. Another thing Imp., I've only suggested auto-explore twice so "What's with you and auto-explore?" doesn't really fit the situation.

Tiles get refogged if you don't currently see them, so I don't know if a unit put on auto explore would even do anything but running around in circles. Also Hunters aren't scouts, they have a special ability which brings food to the nearest city whenever they kill an animal.

Though they technically are by the game definition defining them as exploration units, I can see why you don't want them to explore. Have the hunters hunt in my orders instead of scouting. Units on auto-explore only explore black tiles, not fogged tiles you can't see. Finally, I give up on you listening to any of my advice considering you take it as a "last resort" rather than a true option to vote for like you did everyone else's advice.

Aw don't be that way, I took your choking suggestion serious didn't I?

I agree with what DKVM said. We should research mysticism and do the hunter and warrior thing he said.

So research Mysticism, train Hunters to auto-explore and choke the Etruscan city with all our warriors but the one we leave as garrison for Rome, correct?

Does the warrior still have +200% city defense? If so good luck!

And by refogged I think Knoedel meant "re-blackened". PIE does that (or at least used to do that on all games I've done).

BTW, Hunters have Range Bombard, they are the ones we should train and use against the city (with every warrior we already have as cannon fodder). With 2 Hunters we can Bombard them until they are with the least life they can be with a Hunter's Range Bombard.

Sorry, did I cross the line again on Metagaming?

Hunters are a national unit and thus limited in number, and warriors get ridiculously high city defense bonuses, so if that's all we got we won't crack the city without extreme numerical superiority, I'd say at least 3 to 1.

This humble citizen of Rome can't understand why our warrior peoples insist on destroying our neighbors to the north. They are well defended in their homes (+200% city defense) and it would be a large loss of life to attack them just to control their homes. I say we begin to understand the plants that grow in the earth and try to find better ways to cultivate them to feed our people. (tech Agriculture) Right now we send men out to hunt and kill animals and women out to pick grass from the earth to eat, but if we would find a way to harvest and grow the plants we pick, we may be able to feed a much larger number of people in our tribe. Don't listen to these war mongering meatheads. The people in the village to our north(west) are no threat to us and our great warriors. Let us focus on domestic issues, such as feeding our people and making our day to day lives easier.

Urgh, just when I wanted to continue playing you come along and create a tie.

So two people want war, and two people want peace. Some say Mysticism, others Agriculture. At least we all seem to be okay with training hunters.

If nobody can convince me otherwise during the next few hours I'll use my position as chieftain to decide that we will not declare war on our neighbors. The clock is ticking.

I think if we reach a count of 2 hunters and 6 other units (warriors or hunters) besides the city garrison, we should consider attacking anyway. The reality of our existence binds us to war, as we can't make anything besides troops right now. I have no preference on tech.

We aren't planning on attacking them directly. We're planning on completely surrounding and starving/baiting them out. Only a fool would charge directly into the line of fire in unsuitable terrain.

We must fight them now to take down their small tribe so that they do not become an empire that is difficult to take. It is our destiny to take Italy and it must begin with the Etruscan lands.

I don't want to sound rude or anything with anyone here, but let's stop to consider our poor reality: We can't build anything!

Look at the pics, we are restricted to build Hunters and Warriors and we already have 4 warriors.

If we don't rush to techs which give us buildings, we have the sad fate of being forced to only make units for a long time. If we don't sacrifice them, our economy will crumble.

This is more an economical argument then anything else. We will probably have to sacrifice troops, but if we do this we must kill the ones who killed our units for them not to be become OP with XP. That's why I support the attack.

I never said anything about technology or buildings, I simply support the war.

Oh okay. That was mildly confusing
