SGOTM 14 - Team TNT

Here is the save game. With regard to most our team members missing lately, I did few consecutive sessions to move the game forward. Here we are - won Liberalism, took Nationalism, stable skyrocketing the tech, population and production. We have horses, so we are ready to start pumping cuirassiers and spies in short and take over the whole world. Or wait some time for Cavalries? Rifles? Cannons?

I met all the Ais, but did not searched for the characters, I guess the next player is to do so :)

Is there someone who can take the save and do a set? I have some graphics issues and until I get this resolved, I can't play Civ. :(
 
I appologize for my silence, but this fall has turned into the most busy fall I've ever had, I think. I hope it will get better soon, but not until november, at least.

Just a quick question: have we any idea who or what the Qizard of Oz is? I notice there is an area of the map (close to the middle) that as yet is unexplored, and seems to have lots of mountains in them. Maybe Oz is a unit surrounded by mountains? We need to figure this out. If we could raise our diplo standings with the mongolian team, it would help to trade maps with them. We may have to gift the english something to make that happen.

I dont know who the wizard is, neither where he is located, but I was thinking that he will be separated from the rest of the world somehow too. If it is surrounded with mountains, we will need paratroopers or guided missiles to kill the ba$tard, which is too far away I think :)
 
Would everyone agree to assign 2metra as our dedicated player until someone has the time to do a set? I should be able to look at the game today sometime. If others could have a look and post ideas and plans, 2metra could incorporate these into the plan.

@2metra - could you post a plan for the next 8 - 10 turns for everyone to consider? It seems that we're back on track now with the pace of our game so time left to finish is not quite so urgent.

The wizard for sure is in one of those surrounded with mountains valleys - we see 2 so far. The quickest way to kill a unit fully surrounded with mountains I think is with paratrooper. Guided missile can do the job too, but I think they come later than the paratroopers.

Also, I am not sure, but wasnt there a story about a girl flying with an umbrella represented by a paratrooper somehow? Or it was from another Story? :dubious: :D

Anyway, here is what I think I will do:

Will capture the lands of one AI team, which will be safe not to hit domination limit and will give us immense advantage in teching, so we can reach Paratroopers quick. In the meanwhile, we must decide (or just see if there is possibility) to continue warring while razing all cities we capture to speed up possible Conquest victory. But this will be later to be decided. For now, I am going WHEOOHRN, building cuirassiers and looking for a victim :)

Will report how it goes after 10-15 turns.
 
OK, so here we are: We are stable the tech leader. I've planted 6 (I think) new cities claiming all the available land on our peninsula. This has raised the expenses from 90 to 170 GPT. Good that we have right now decent economy to support this. I've made a 36 turns consecutive Golden Age, from which we still have 25 turns. We are close to Oxford, we can build Banks and Wall Street after this, and I think we must wait for Cavalries to crush our enemies, as the AIs already started to deploy pikes. Our enemies chose us, instead the opposite. Mongolia/England declared us a war with pathetic 2 - unit army on our borders. Right now they are surely moving their stacks our way, but we will have enough time to prepare I think.

We must start producing (after markets/grocers/banks) Knights and then use huge amount of money to upgrade them to cavalries once we have the techs. Rifles we can add to the striking force too. Cannons once available. Till then, spies?

As it seems, I will take some more turns these days.

I dont play much single player lately, so just to test things out, I did started a game on big map with lots of AIs at Immortal to test out how renaissance-modern war feels when having tech lead. Not so bad till now, but it is slow and painful process - despite my tech advantage, it takes time to capture many cities. I find nice and somewhat secure conquest to be maces, cuirrasiers and trebuchets vs LBs, later cavalries, cannons and rifles vs muskets and cuirrasiers and then infantries and artillery vs rifles.

Anyway - we have to wait till paratroopers to be able to kill the Wizard anyway, so even if the conquest is slow process, I will have to start it soon. :)

I have had a brief look and our tech rate is definitely a positive. Nice work, 2metra! :thumbsup:

As stated earlier, if anyone wants a turn, please speak up. I am not against having an early finish. We just haven't had the best luck when it comes to players being able to devote a lot of time to our game. Any input will certainly be appreciated, otherwise we are leaving decisions to our ninja! :p

I can't think of any other way of attacking the Wizard so teching is the key now. A posted plan for the next set would be good for people to see and agree or discuss.
 
So, as I said maybe a bit unclear earlier, I plan to start slaving/upgrading cavalries once available like hell and use spies for disorder - if I can, I will bring down one AI this way, then stop and reorganize for the next one. TIll then, keeping the science high to get to paratroopers quick. At some point will use rifles and cannons too I guess.

With our technological and soon military advantage it will be straightforward warmongering I guess - not much else we have to do to win the game.

Lets see how it envelops.
 
Took out the English in about 10-15 turns blitzkrieg after gathering the needed force, moving on to Mongolia at full speed.

The AIs are teching really hard - they are double our size each with half the maintenance with their permanent alliances. May take more than infantries to actually take domination limit. Everyone already have rifles. We will have Paratroopers and Infantries in few turns. Lets hope the newly conquered lands will give us the edge once they are pacified.

Will continue playing tonight. I dont see particular availability from other team members to play turnsets, so I just move ahead. I doubt if we are first with finish date in-game, but we might be the first team to finish with the game in real-life time at least :D
