    We are capped at 50pts unless we can get >25% votes to the AIs. Not being able to flip out of Tao on the victory turn complicates this, I agree.

    My goal was to get the game to T72 today so the weekend is free. We can make final calcs before commiting the victory, or if we blow away the 420 (hehe) we can submit early.
    I'm moving forward on T70, but trying to keep things open for an earlier win.

    I hate to stir the pot, but wouldn't another way to get more points T71 be to run the EP slider so we can try to get one extra spy mission? Kinda late, but a few EPs could mean 3k-4k more culture.

    That was my thought, but I wasn't sure how much we can get while finishing Compass. It would be useful on this turn, if we can squeeze out an extra point or two on T71.

    I would probably elect to use our GG in a way that helps with T71 Korea kill (fast galley+stronger attackers) since the T73 swat team can't get there to kill next turn. Remember, it's T70 already! What an amazing dismount it would be to wrap up everything next turn and press 'end turn' to win.

    As near as I can tell, we can win T73 with 421 points if we get those extra 8 AP points.

    It would involve getting USA and England Gua and Nanjing to capitulate T72 with 10AP votes each.

    That means we need to flip USA and England into Taoism on T71 to double their votes.

    So after Gold City is captured from the final colony T71, it is gifted to USA and England in turn and our Spy horde does the flip.
    England 10AP votes. Gua won't starve and can't be whipped.
    USA 6 or 8 AP votes since Nanjing starves or gets whipped.
    Player 66 AP votes -2 for each pop whipped away to complete wonders.
    We whip away 9 pop, that should be enough.

    All this means 100:espionage:? on England and USA each this T70 using slider.
    Also, the Horse Archer from Trap City South needs to come up towards gold city T70 if Gold City gonna have so many owners on T71.

    If England uses Gua to somehow form a colony, or the 421 points just misses because we get 3rd place on demo screen approval rating, we blew our gold laurel chances.

    How brave are we feeling to go 1 turn faster?

    Losing 10 extra population giving away 2 prime cities does seem to affect our military score.
    Our world % population on our victory screen is how many worth 6/7th of a points each.
    Currently it is 57%, so 48 points.
    The wonder whipping and giving away 5 pop cities would plunge this.
    Dipping below 53% world pop is when we start losing points from 100 I think.

    We might slip below 420 if we try for those 8 AP points for T73 win.

    I'm happy if we decide to win T74.

    More :espionage: points to try for +1 mission is worth it if it does not use up too much gold.

    It would be a shame to not have enough money to run Culture Slider at the end though. :hmm:
    Not only does it guarantee 1st place in the demo screen approval rating (I think), it can also help cities, especially coastal ones, pop borders in 1 turn, for even more points for us.

    But we do have that fail gold from Chichen coming.
    Go ahead and add 200:espionage: to Korea I'd say. :)

    Only being able to flip England to Tao means we'd have to whip down our Tao cities even more.

    Also, I forgot England is running Mercantilism.
    York was always going to pop borders (+1 free Artist) in 2 turns despite my scheming.

    Also, Bbp is right that 79/81 on the Demo screen gives 97 points.

    My PPP that listed 98 points was wrong :o

    I've been working with this effect in mind. What can we give England:
    Hamburg, GoldCity, check.
    NewYork: we can't recapture it til the following turn. That's OK, but we can't let him have too many keepers or a colony forms.
    York? or Lyons? The problem with Lyons is that it cannot be recaptured til next turn either.
    Other? A trap city maybe. TrapNE is too far and he won't take both it and Hamburg

    edit: I've decided Hamburg (first!), TrapSouth, GoldCity, and Lyons. In that order.
    Why can we do Lyons when it's so far away? because it will Liberate to him. So he will take it like it was a city he already owned.
    And if I'm wrong, there's always NewYork or York.

    The TrapSouth gift will teleport a nice stack of units that can either protect NewYork or recapture TrapSouth from England and again from the new Colony next turn.

    Not sure I mentioned this, but some of my early calcs assumed we'd use the ep slider to get an extra mission even so often.

    I'm in favor of getting plenty more than 420 points on our victory turn rather than going for 421 and screwing something up. That would be too gepainfulheimer.

    I think I already proposed using Korea's EPs on 73 and was shot down, but maybe things have changed now that we think we are sooo close to having the points on 72, we can simply do the culture missions on Korea. Then we only have to capture the empty Goldcity and the Korean capital T73.
    What if we get Pacal on T73 :eek:

    And another thing! If we use Korea, then we can gift GoldCity T72 and, instead of the usual peaceful turn to get a colony, we DoW and unload units at KoreaIsle. No more amphibious attack!

    I'll stop playing before the end of T72 to add up our score, so it won't be too late to form that colony.
