This thread is primarily designed to help me by acting as a single point of contact to the teams. The thread is going to be used to post scoring data and announcements. You can also use it to contact me, or raise questions that you feel are of interest to everyone.

Please keep the spam down in this thread. I'm asking nicely :)

Please provide a link to your savegames in this thread. The charts and graphs etc. will be generated from savegames posted here, and not in your game thread.

Announcement: Rule changes and procedural stuff

1. The game threads are now open to everyone to read. You no longer need to feel guilty about reading the other teams threads. In return I am going to start getting snotty about people discussing what they learn in the other threads. I'm even considering penalties for this behaviour. So go fill your boots in the other threads.. but keep your mouths shut :)

2. It is no longer necessary to stick rigidly to the 10 turns per person rule. As a general guide it is still valid, but it no longer causes me a problem if you are a few turns out.

3. The filenaming convention is no longer important to me (though it may be to you). The only requirement I now have is that your team name should be included in the filename somewhere.

4. Results will be shown for each team to as far as they have played. I will no longer be restricting the data to a point where everyone has played to. If I did then some teams will finish before others have played 20 turns.

Staff Announcement

Karasu has offered to keep an eye on some of the game threads for me. He will also be taking over the scoring side of things until we can get it automated. Thanks Karasu

You are most welcome, MB...

In particular, I will be there to provide moral support and material comforts to the teams:

- Bugsy
- X
- Ankka
- Akots
- Jeff

Hey the graph looks all wrong. Mainly because we are at the bottom. But also it looks like we are supposed to have played 30 turns when we have played only 20. Also Rocinante founded Persepolis on turn 2 not turn 5 five as the graph seems to indicate.
Doctor the staff score not ours...they deserve it :)

O.K. Rant over. However, I do have a point to make . I haven't played any of these early GOTMs - the earliest I have played is 16 but I remember going through the threads and reading Cracker ranting about the AI respawn not being turned off for some these earlier games. Have you turned it off for this game M.B?
Its not a big problem if it isn't just so long as we know so we can prepare for it if they are respawning.

@samildanach: Are you sure that light blue line is your team's? Could it be Ankaa's?

Samildanach:

AI respawn is off.
Your team is not on the chart yet because I couldn't get a valid save from your thread when I came to do it. The line you think is you is actually Ankkas OCC.
If you count the lines you'll see there are only seven of nine.

The charts wont be updated until Monday evening GMT now.

Team X 2150 BC save at turn 40 is << HERE >> Score is 64.

[edit - Whoops! BC, of course ]

One thing I am puzzled about with regard to the rules for AW. Since we have to declare war immediately, that means that we only get to trade with each civ once. Then for the rest of the game we can never trade again and have to research our own techs. Now that may be possible in this Regent game, but I can't imagine you could keep up in the tech race on the higher levels if you could never trade.

Shouldn't the reward for destroying another civ be the ability to take all of its techs? The conquering team could destroy all but the final city, make peace, take the techs in tribute and then come back in the next turn and eliminate that civ.

Sorry Zagnut: AW rules are brutal in nature. You have to do all your own research. There are benefits to the human player too, an you might find it entertaining to read some of the AWE games in the SG forum.

The rules are not mine BTW. They are pretty standard. I already relaxed them to allow you to delay contact :)

I've been doing this, but no one else seems to be. Did I miss a change of plan?

Quite right Alan. Perhaps a gentle reminder is in order.

Please post links to your saved games in this thread. :D

It helps me a lot. Thanks

The bonus chart is just for fun and shows your score with the bonuses I will allocate if you put your money where your mouth is. ;)
