Shirley Temple Black dies

Rip.

I know my grandfather (who passed away a decade ago) really enjoyed watching her work. Come to think of it, he was just a bit younger than me during Shirley Temple's heyday.

Following the Velvet Revolution, Ambassador Temple Black played a key role in helping Czechoslovakia to ride out the Velvet Revolution. That peaceful change in government paved the way for democracy in Eastern Europe.

The world will long remember The Good Ship Lollipop and the virgin cocktail that bears her name. Hopefully Ambassador Temple Black's role as a stateswoman will also be long thought of.

Let's not forget what is likely her greatest achievement: Working so hard to eliminate racism by being a positive role model back when it was far more prevalent than it is today.

I'm so glad I canceled my cable. Won't have to be hearing people shilling memorial collections of these;

You have a point. She's an historic character, and became a diplomat.

I have zero interest in watching her on-screen performances. Beyond maybe a clip of a minute or two.

Well she did become a major Republican campaign donor and politician before getting her diplomatic appointment. But Shirley Temple Black turned out to actually be quite good at it, unlike so many other political appointees.

:lol:

I can't help but LOL all the men surrounding the little girl in that image showing for the youtube video above. That just looks so wrong, and so creepy. It was a different time back then. One likes to think there weren't pedophiles back then, but I'm sure there were. It was an innocent time when a bunch of adult men could surround a little girl, and that wouldn't seem strange.

I had no idea the Shirley Temple was still around until this year. RIP.

Ditto.
