Should nudity in public be allowed?

In fact, at least in Spain, nudism is TOTALLY LEGAL IN ANY PUBLIC PLACE can be beach, river, park or street.

I didn't know that, although I have seen nudists several times in a beach in front of Argiñano's restaurant, where there are no signs warning about a nudist beach or fences separating a normal beach from a nudist one.

And nobody complains about the more common topless practices in any Spanish beach either.

I dont want to see crazy fat naked people. Ugh no hell no.

No, nudity in public places should not be allowed. If you are inside your own house or on private property (Where you cannot easily be seen by someone off of your own property) then you can be naked all you want, and I don't care. Besides the innumerable health issues widespread public nudity would cause, people shouldn't have to see naked people in public if they don't want to. That's gross.

"Ironduck, I'm as liberal as anyone else, but you have gone too far. What have you got against clothes?"

(or something like that: paraphrased from Xanikk)

My one and only sig to date! Says it all!

edit - I can't believe there's both a Stylesrj and a Stylesjl in this thread!

Um, Am I the only one that thinks that is disgusting? Indecent exposure is not a right you have. You don't want your kid's innocence destroyed by some pervert and find out he had the "right" to do it.

It's amusing. Normally people at least attempt to be logical in discussions here, but every time public nudity is brought up it's all about 'gross, disgusting, lack of decency' and other completely subjective arguments. The only one that attempts some kind of logic is the fear of diseases, but it's very easily countered.

Everything execpt the crotch should be legal I say. If you're walking around in a pair of @ssless breifs that's fine with me, but taking it off would be a bit over the top.

If we allow this then we will have to strike all public indecency laws. So any pervert could walk up tp an unattended child and do whatever he wanted. He doesn't even have to be secretive now. How's that? Pleny more where it came from.

On the subject of sexual perverts, there could be laws against things like sexual harassment, masturbation in public, and other indecent things. Simply exposing one's body shouldn't be illegal. After all kids have "One of those things" anyway

Actually, kids *are* quite innocent with regards to nudity ... until some grown-ups come along and make them feel bad for it.

I think the innocence of nudity needs to be regained.

That's quite twisted logic. Why would anyone be allowed to do 'whatever he wanted' just because people are allowed to be nude? You think people are allowed to 'do whatever they want' on nude beaches here? They are not. You make up some strange scenarios in your head, I can only assume the reason behind it..

If a man is nude, then there is really no limit to the amount of indecency that he can expose to a child. Children would be unprotected from this stuff. What do you think of the laws we have against indecent exposure to children today? Doing this means we basically have to strike all of them off.

It's not that hard to imagine. A child is outside playing or something, and some naked guy can comit the act of indecent exposure without even being prosecuted.

Would you care to explain what you are talking about?

All I'm saying is that it should be allowed to be nude in public, just like it is in the beaches here.

You seem to suggest that when people are nude they're allowed to do anything they want to molest children. I don't know where you get the connection from, so I'd like you to explain it, and to explain precisely what you mean by 'indecent exposure'. After all, many people think it's 'indecent exposure' to simply be naked.

If I'm correct on the laws in America, it is illegal for an adult to expose themselves to a child. I find that doing this is just as bad as any form of molestation, as the affects can be pretty long lasting on the child. If someone wants to keep their child from seeing this stuff for whatever reason, they'd literally have to lock their kid up in the house all day to keep them from being exposed until they think that the child is ready. This is pretty much a restriction on those people. And it is not fair that the majority have to have restrictions on their lives so that some few people can walk around in the nude. When they could go to the designated areas or just wear clothing.
What about their rights? Should they just walk around with their heads down all day?

You really think that children seeing naked adults is akin to molestation?

In that case I guess I'm molested, why, I saw plenty of naked adults when I was a child. Strangers too. In public beaches.

How exactly is a child hurt by seeing naked people?

If someone wants to keep their child from seeing other people they'd have to lock them up in the house. How much sense does that make, exactly?
