kulade now includes a visual representation of Poland's eastwardness.

(I encourage you all to do likewise)

Minor sig change: healthcare is OUT, 'what's wrong with modern macroeconomics' is IN. It's a link to a post on Mark Thoma's blog, which is itself a collection of pointers to articles. Lots of good reading there.

Adios

I see a lot of people with their political compass as signature.
What good is this supposed to bring?

here is my compass
Economic Left/Right: -9.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.05

just so you all know (I know you care )

but still, I fail to see the point in having this as signature

So we can choose who's comments to read and who's to disregard? :mischief:

Seriously though, it's just for novelty value I guess.

People like putting themselves into boxes. :dunno:

@cabert: It doesn't serve much purpose on the rest of the CFC forums, but it's a reasonable thing to help various posters on OT (which has quite a diverse population) know where folks are coming from. Especially for new posters, it would be great if they'd simply go to the old threads on political compass/whatever, instead of each new poster starting a thread "here's why I'm x politically"

There's nothing wrong with thinking inside the box - that's where the ice cream is kept.

I forget what mine looks like.

I edited in a reference to a great history blog and a plug for a crummy alternate history timeline that I am writing.

Not much as far as I am concerned. I find that political compass to be mostly poppycock.

here is my compass
Economic Left/Right: -9.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.05

just so you all know (I know you care )

but still, I fail to see the point in having this as signature
Since the so-called economic left/right indicator is by far the most important one in that peculiar test, it is regrettable that you are not posting more at OT.

They do, now? I don't agree with what I suppose you are implying here.
It is rather so that those you have a clearly defined political ideology they adhere to, display a more tidy and original way of thinking than those free spirits who are not shackled by any dogmas but yet mysteriously almost always end up in a very predictable and conformist positions regarding most political issues of omportance. There are quite a few of those around here, even.

Not bad, that blog. Thanks for the link.
Don't remember if I already told where my signature comes from, but anyway... It is from the volume in Peter Lovesey's Sergeant Cribb series with the title A Case of Spirits, and is something I might say about myself as well.

So I now have a swedish line:Känslan av att jorden kryper, växer. That is an awesome song and the sentence is made by the wordbender Thomas Öberg, singer in the band Bob Hund and this sideproject SciFiSkåne. These people are about the only good things from Skåne.

Anyway the translation is: The feeling that the earth shrinks, grows.
