SKNES: Architecture of Aggression

The Pope's private guards and carriage were quickly prepared. The Pope himself was leaving Rome in an important mission, to the north...

The Division of Epir

King Alexandros Valerius was in Epir. At the moment, he was sitting in an office in a large building in the ancient city of Ambracia. A map of the former Despotate of Epir was on a table, illuminated by candlelight. Several men stood around it, including some men from the Kingdom of Castille. A few guards stood outside the room and inside; those inside could not help but watch the Castillian Moors cautiously.

The men wrote on the map and talked amongst themselves. At times, arguments began, but the respective leaders quickly stopped them. Slowly, the arguments became less frequent as an agreement was hammered out. Finally, a neutral mapmaker drew a line with a quill on the map.

"It is settled, then. All that is north of this border shall fall under the control of Sicily, while the land to the south will be Castillian," the mapmaker confirmed.

Both parties murmured agreement. To finish the diplomacy, King Alexandros stood face-to-face with the Castillian leader and shook hands. The Castillians left shortly after, leaving the Sicilian king alone with his advisors staring at the map.

"My lord, I stand by my earlier statements. To allow these... those heathens to govern half of Epir! It is an insult upon God!"

The king simply nodded at the delegate from the Orthodox church to signal him to speak. The priest began, "It is either a decision of allowing the Moslems to rule Epir, or it will be another war. It is simply for the best of all to-"

The outspoken adviser angrily stood up and interrupted, "I see how it is, 'holy man'. You would allow the heathens to rule the world! I have no more to speak here." With that, he angrily stormed out, letting a silence descend upon the remaining people in the room.

Finally, one of the nobles spoke up, changing the topic. "Milord, you mentioned vassalizing our half of Epir. Who will you choose to govern this new state? Surely not anyone from the old government?"

The king nodded and seemed in thought for a few seconds. Then, he smiled and said, "I believe I know the perfect choice."

Sultan Ubair Mikaeel al-Rashied does not want any bad relations between our nations. May Castile and Taman live in peace together forever. Welcome to the world Duke.
Allah bless you, or should I say God;)
From Sultanate of Castile
PS: What be the name of Tamans' Duke?

I am Balghichi of Tamatarkhan, Duke of Taman. Allah/God bless you too.

SK: Can I change my nation's color to that of EU3 Venice? It will be less confusing

Will do. Posting an updated map. (Thank you Bair_The_Normal for pointing out that pink in the Danube delta) (OOC: Venice's DW color is too light and blends in too much with the surroundings, I darkened it slightly)
(Bair_The_Normal, you'll appear in the next update)

Greetings from the Kingdom of Sicily, fellow Orthodox brother. We offer you a hand in friendship and in camaraderie, as our faith has suffered severe blows in the recent past.

EDIT: To: Naples
From our perspective, the Papal islands could fit better under your control than his.

Why should we care what you do in the lands outside our border? Settle and live there, and if you are hardy and brave enough to survive those lands, then, they are yours until such time as someone stronger can take them from you.

Southern King. I don't have papal islands, those belong to Venice. I have given those to Venice for two updates now...

:popcorn:The Respect of an al-Rashied

Sultan Ubair al-Rashied rode on his horse, during a hot night. He rode slowly, and next to him rode his heir, Aqeel Ubair al-Rashied. Ubair looked to the moon, smiled thinking of his late father. Aqeel spoke in a curious but serious voice.

"Father, when you where in Epir with King Valerius, you allowed them to have half of Epir? How can you allow these Catholics just take our land like that? I do not understand. Do you disrespect our Prophet?"

"Firstly, it was not our land. I was lucky enough to even go into Epir asking for land. Yes we helped in the crusade, but that does not mean any old man can demand land. King Valerius had the mind of a wise, respectable man.
Secondly, how dare you bring up Prophet Mohammed into a topic of war! Shame on you!"

Aqeel looked down, feeling guilty.

"I don't understand father"
Ubair said in a relaxed manner, "You must respect those who tolerate us my son. King Valerius showed more than tolerance, he show respect. I want you to remember that, even though you are only 21, full of warmongering ambitious, remember the respect of an al-Rashied. King Valerius is different, most King's would of told us to leave. Respect those people and you will live."

With that they rode back to their palace, Aqeel thinking deeply about his fathers' wise words.

You kids are such huge heretics it's hilarious. At least my country's leaders are honest about disrespecting it's former religion.

I think that my beautiful Thuringia is better off as an NPC. I have yet to provide any meaningful contribution to this NES, other then filling the gigantic gap in Germany. Nor do I think that I will be able to. So consider this a goodbye.
