The Respect of an al-Rashied
Sultan Ubair al-Rashied rode on his horse, during a hot night. He rode slowly, and next to him rode his heir, Aqeel Ubair al-Rashied. Ubair looked to the moon, smiled thinking of his late father. Aqeel spoke in a curious but serious voice.
"Father, when you where in Epir with King Valerius, you allowed them to have half of Epir? How can you allow these Catholics just take our land like that? I do not understand. Do you disrespect our Prophet?"
"Firstly, it was not our land. I was lucky enough to even go into Epir asking for land. Yes we helped in the crusade, but that does not mean any old man can demand land. King Valerius had the mind of a wise, respectable man.
Secondly, how dare you bring up Prophet Mohammed into a topic of war! Shame on you!"
Aqeel looked down, feeling guilty.
"I don't understand father"
Ubair said in a relaxed manner, "You must respect those who tolerate us my son. King Valerius showed more than tolerance, he show respect. I want you to remember that, even though you are only 21, full of warmongering ambitious, remember the respect of an al-Rashied. King Valerius is different, most King's would of told us to leave. Respect those people and you will live."
With that they rode back to their palace, Aqeel thinking deeply about his fathers' wise words.
