SKNES II: The Bonaparte Legacy

OOC: this is fun but i'll have to finish later tonight or tomorrow.

OOC: It's Constantinople, not Istanbul. It was Kemal who named the city Istanbul, but in this timeline the Ottomans still rule.

These are not the terms the Saudis inform us they received. If Britain wishes to continue to prop up a decaying empire, it will soon find that the Red Army is not some African militia or Mexican banditos.

Since the beginning of this conflict, our terms have been clear: Recognize the legitimacy of Ottoman rule, cease Saudi provocations, and we will withdraw.

The Soviet government is lying in an attempt to obfuscate the issue -- trying to present this as "Arab nationalism" rather than the naked land grab it is.

The Arab subjects of the Empire have no wish to live under a government that will repress their religion.

TO: The Umma al-Islam

The godless Communists seek to strangle Islam in its heartland. We call on all faithful Muslims to wage jihad against the Soviet Union; those mujihadeen who die fighting the Red Army will certainly attain Paradise.

To Our loyal Arab subjects, the USSR promised 'freedom' to the Estonians and Poles, as well.

Hey,

The following was one of 2 stipulations of the host Corea for having the ASECP Conference in Seoul.
1. Moreover, to prevent a disaster similar to the democratic conference, advocacy for ideologies and government systems (Communist, Progressist, Liberal Democratic, Fascist, Monarchic or otherwise) will be strictly prohibited.

The other stipulation was.
2. Corea will provide all of the security.

Corea asks that these stipulations be followed for the betterment of the ASECP gathering

We have an existing mutual defence agreement with Saudi Arabia. Our intervention is not un-called for, it is mandated by international treaty. You, however, have no such agreement with the Ottoman Empire, and are simply acting out of a (really terrible) opportunism.

China is simply pursuing the same irresponsible foreign policy it has done previously, and seeks some petty revenge for us supporting Spain against your unprovoked attack. We gave the Ottomans ample opportunity, as we did you, to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the Arabs, but none came about.

Further, you cannot ban us from ASECP for nationalistic partisan reasons. You are not in control of an international conference, if anything Corea is.

A Chinese invasion of Soviet territory will fail. Hard. You lack the logistical support or equipment to effectively prosecute a campaign so far away from your centers of supply. We possess pre-positioned troops, interior lines, and superior support, not to mention international allies that will support us against you.

We have in fact made an agreement for mutual protection with the Ottomans. Sadly the agreement was never publicized before it had to be acted upon.

If the Ottomans are willing to reveal this agreement to the world than we shall do so. In any case

Since the Soviet Union has refused to withdraw,
China officially declares war on the red Soviet Tyranny. If the USSR ceases its uncalled for aggression and pushes for a just Arab - Ottoman peace, this war will end, but otherwise it will continue.

OOC: SK, can you please move the Orders Lock back several days so that we have more time to prepare war plans for what is shaping up to be World War 2?

I'll judge depending on how many people jump in. I'd prefer to get this update done before school starts (this Monday, the 26th) but if this continues to escalate then I can push the deadline back a few days.
Tibet and the Philippines declare war on the Soviet Union.

To the Philippines: While we strongly appreciate your support, we believe that you would be more helpful if you stayed neutral, industrialized and paid off some of what we owe to the Spanish (we will pay most of it).

However it is your decision. If you believe that you can directly strike at Soviet Tyranny and succeed, then we applaud your bravery, but we implore you to focus on advancing your own nation for the time being.

To World (CC: Spain): As long as Spain does not support the Soviet Union, our deal stands despite the war and we will still make our payments to you (unless you wish to support the war against Communist Tyranny by allowing us to suspend payments until after the war ends).

OOC:

Finnish Ambassador: Of course, the whole point of a Mutual Protection Pact is lost, if you *keep* it a *secret*! Why didn't you tell the world, EH?

Chinese Ambassador: It was to be announced at the ASECP on Monday. As you know, the President loves surprises.

Well, then we activate our own secret mutual protection pacts!

All capitalist states fighting for freedom against the Union of Sucky Stupid Republics are welcome to purchase Brazilian arms and munitions at a discounted rate, and should contact their local Brazilian embassy for further details.

The People's Republic of Hungary accordingly declares war on all parties the Soviet Union is currently in military conflict with.

OOC: yes, yes, I know. I feel as stupid as I look :cringe:. In my defense, I was and still am busy and hence forgot about it.

Well, then we activate our own secret mutual protection pacts!

Yes, yes you do :p

Edit: though I guess since you are both Communists that isn't surprising.

OOC: Am I by any chance tied to this conflict?

AFAIK unless Scandinavia made any secret pacts that I'm not aware of, you're not obliged to involve yourself, no. And I don't see much reason for Scandinavia to involve itself in what's still confined to the Middle East and Asia.
That being said, I'm not going to limit your choices.

@SK: can Japan join the mobilization party to reduce its army upkeep, but not declare war on anyone or be otherwise involved?

@SK: can Japan join the mobilization party to reduce its army upkeep, but not declare war on anyone or be otherwise involved?

Sure, but remember that you would effectively be transitioning to a war economy in peacetime, and all the implications that brings.

Also, vague 48 hour warning, I only have about 5 ordersets at this point. People who are at war can have extra time to send orders if they so need, and I'll push the order deadline back a day or two in the event that this escalates into a full-blown world war.

Ah... I had forgotten. Oh well. I guess I'll suffer along with peace. :)
