Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

anyone seen this yet? ;) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33017/

I've been playing with it for a while and it's a masterpiece, extremely well done. now let's just wait for HD textures :D
Tried it, but it's a lag fest in heavily forested areas.

Use HiAlgo Boost. It should help. I'm playing it with no lag, he also updated so that sandstorms don't cause tremendous FPS loss.

I'd also recommend this. Doesn't really improve my FPS that significantly, probably because my rig is just that bad (and I have that many mods?), but it is a noticeable improvement, which is better than nothing.

I've yet to try the mod though, as I'm still figuring out which mods I have are incompatible and which ones aren't.

And thar she blows.

I added too manyy mods pushed it over the edge and she exploded spectacularly, ctd every 30 secs.

Time to wipe everything, reinstall and do it all over again.

Am I Sisyphus?

To be honest, I'm surprised none of my TES games have exploded (or even experienced any serious bugs) even after all the mods I've installed.

Although I'm trying the Tropical Skyrim mod in an hour or two (after I finish getting all my glorious Middle Eastern/tropical/oriental/exotic-sounding/Silk Roady/beach custom music ready (that took me at least two hours already))... I'm just hoping I can get at least 10 fps with that, and I should be good to go. Wish me luck!

Whoa now brah. You gonna share that?

I think I have a problem....I'm addicted to mods....not even playing the mods....downloading them, installing them and getting it to run......this is sick

Probably can't share most of them legally... ;) Though it's basically the custom music I would be using if I were playing a TES: Elsweyr or Hammerfell game. I can list a few of my sources I remember off the top of my head, though:

  • Broken Crescent mod for Medieval II Toal War
  • Anno 1404
  • That middle eastern/african inspired expansion for the first Guild Wars
  • Recuerdos de la Alhambra - classic Spanish guitar piece, can't go wrong with that
  • Random Ottoman Turkish music
  • Arcana - one of their albums, I forgot which, but it's Middle Eastern inspired
  • Prince of Persia music (though only from two of the games, I don't remember which, as only those two have a middle eastern sounding track, the others are too modern)
  • Random Chinese music for the bamboo forests
  • Loorena McKennitt - she's Celtic musician, but some of her music shows clear Middle Eastern influences (sometimes rather explicitly)
  • Medieval II Total War music for the combat stuff (mostly from the Americas and Middle Eastern battle stuff) and dungeon places
  • Shogun II Total War music for combat
  • Missa Johnouchi - she's a New Agey Japanese artist not very well known in the West, but she has some very nice-sounding Silk Road-ish stuff

That's all I can think of - I've built quite a huge collection of weird music over the years, but I'm pretty sure you can easily find tons of good music online, even legally free stuff if you're concerned about that.

In case you don't know about it, the mod I'm using for custom music is this one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13286. You'll have to do a bit of work to get what you want, but it is totally worth it (it's one of the first mods I picked up for Skyrim, and I haven't turned back).

Same here, that's why I had to literally limit the number of mods I use (like "DONT DOWNLOAD MORE THAN 60 MODS") although it only sort of worked.

Anyone else love Master Difficulty? I'm not saving other than default autosave settings, no absurd smithing/enchanting/alchemy BS and playing a freaking mage.

I prefer to have more spawns, because it means more people to kill. I'm going to try a Breton EVILLLLLLLLLL mage now. SPERG + Apocalypse Spells + Wrath of Nature should make things interesting in the magic department.

In terms of difficulty, I've found a nice way to make the game more difficult via two mods- one that makes you start with 1 level in all skill points at the beginning of the game (minus racial bonuses and all that), and one that makes it so that at harder difficulties, everyone does the same damage to each other but everyone does more damage overall - so while it might make it easie for me to kill one thing, if, say, something really powerful attacks me, or a bunch of weak things at once, I could easily be killed in 2-3 hits. All in all makes combat much quicker and deadlier and as semi-realistic as possible without the combat realism mod.

Also...

Tropical Skyrim is Best Skyrim.

That is all.

(Amazingly I don't detect any fps loss on my end, despite the fact that my PC's a low-end one and I was already running n ~20-25 fps previously)

Ugh I hate combat realism mods. Scripted stamina whores.

Go to the top of High Hrothgar check out the view.

Also download the mountain texture replacer. Worth it.

If I wanted semi-realistic combat, I wouldn't be playing a freaking RPG.

Yeah, that's why I like those two mods I found, they have real good synergy - things are definitely a lot harder, maybe much, much harder, but the base game mechanics remain the same. (Contrary to a number of ES players, I'm actually happy with the combat system.)

D'you mean this one or this one? Either way I'll probably take the former as my rig probably can't handle the latter.

I'm also seeing a few other texture mods pop up, like one that turns horses into Zebras and another that retextures some random things (like arrow holders... whatever those things are called) that the main mod forgot. Like here it even turned Imperial soldiers into Conquistadors.

This mod is awesome.

The latter, it looks like something out of Arizona or Utah.

I don't like most of the other re-textures though.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I don't think my rig can handle that... though even if it could I don't want to strain it any further.

I don't like most of the other re-textures though.

I don't mind them myself, but I do hope (though probably futilely) that the retextures don't just do the stereotypical tribal stuff. It'd be really cool if they had like actual MesoAmerican or Indian or Southeast Asian stuff in there too, which I doubt unless one of those modders happens to be a history buff or something.

Brace yourselves. Everything everywhere is going to break because Update 1.9 is out.

Sadly, it also fixes the hilarious bug which caused couriers to show up naked save for a hat.

NOOOO!!! WHY WOULD YOU TAKE AWAY THE NAKED COURIER?????

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's next downloadable content pack could take players to a new province of Tamriel. A trademark filing by Bethesda suggests that the new DLC will be called Redguard.

Redguard is the name of the dark-skinned race of humans from Hammerfell. They're well-known for their skill with swords and fierce independence. At the time of Skyrim, they have driven back Aldmeri Dominion invasion. Hammerfell is now a completely independent nation.

The trademark for Redguard was first filed in March 2011, according to Digital Spy. Bethesda renewed the trademark twice since then, the most recent time being in August 2012. The mark is up for renewal next month.

Skyrim has released three DLC packs thus far: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. The existence of each was revealed by a trademark before Bethesda formally announced it. Maybe Redguard will continue the streak. However, Bethesda doesn't seem ready to confirm or deny anything just yet.

"Sorry, I don't comment on every rumor that comes up," tweeted Bethesda VP Pete Hines when asked about Redguard by a fan.

Bethesda confirmed in December that they have "more stuff" on the way. It's not a question of whether or not more DLC is on the way, then. It's just a question of whether it's Redguard or something else.

Why am I so taunted?

No biggie, just have to wait till a new version of SKSE comes out (Or at least pop in the beta SKSE) :p. (As well as some unofficial patches).

Aw crud... I was just about to play tropical Skyrim WHEN THE THING FREAKING UPDATED... I should really follow Skyrim news more.

Well, let's see if my game crashes... (I don't think I have anything that messes with the core code that badly... as on principle I don't download SKES or any mods with SKES... more so because it helps limit the amount of mods I download a lot, not because I don't like it)

I've been hearing rumors about that for about a month already. Would be a nice change of pace, definitely.
