Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

CivFanatics predicted something (true): Oh crap is this a leak?
Predicted something (not true): Are people going to freak out if this isn't in the game?
Predicted something (insane): "So guess what they're talking about now..."
Conversation turns to 1UPT: (GTA3 "here we go again" meme)
In the interest of being this site’s most unbearable pedant: technically that was GTA: San Andreas, sandwiched between GTA 3 & 4

forgive me, but it’s what I studied in school.

We had to make changes for the southern hemisphere because they play their games upside-down.
You coming to Pax Aus to test that theory out? :p
PS: I'll be there the Friday, so will drop into the panel and say hi to the team.

I remember during the Civ5 discussions... there was a guy who wanted dinosaurs as regular civ... I still get a headache from that.

(not talking about the Civ2 dino mod here)

I presume someone already pointed this out, but this ship is loaded with treasure. This certainly has to tie into some kind of mechanic, and isn’t just a default ship skin. Presumably riches you plunder from across the sea has to be transported back to your empire before you can reap the rewards.

This does not appear to be the same unit as the Galleon we've seen. It may simply be the regular skin for the Exploration Era Trade Ship. The Antiquity version also has the decks crowded with cargo.

It would be cool if the Trade Ships had different load states, but that seems unlikely to me.

I'm quite peeved that Firafis made a civ game with greater flexibility on who can lead and still went with Napoleon for Franc when we could've had Talleyrand

And since Nappy is the optional enticement, it implies that there might be a base game French leader who isn't Napoleon for those who choose not to link 2K accounts.

Actually It’s pretty certain that not all civs will have a leader in the base game. and not all civs will have leaders in expansions.. (DLCs list 4 civs 4 wonders 2 leaders). So it’s possible / likely every civ will have a wonder, but its possible Napoleon will be the only leader for France. (but a Franks civ might eventually get a leader)

Napoleon is a sort of enticement to get people to link their 2K accounts so I'm not surprised they went with someone more iconic
It's understandable, shame it had to be a French leader. I'm sure they could've used a Roman consul/general/emperor or an Egyptian pharaoh and it'd work just as well for that end. Hell, they could've used Gandhi, as many players still find that 12 year old meme funny.

It is, but I think it's unlikely to be Talleyrand, as he was contemporary with Napoleon.

Your idea. We don't know enough to verify this either way.

We haven't seen most of the game, so drawing conclusions based on what we haven't seen is sheer speculation.

The fact that they specifically say that each DLC adds 4 civs and 2 leaders makes it pretty clear that there are going to be many civs without leaders. I suppose that could mean all four Civs have their own leader and then you get two more additional leaders. But I have to think they would have said 6 leaders as a selling point.

This does imply that some civilizations will not have a leader. It's a leap from there to "most don't have a leader."

This. We don't know for sure how many leaders nor how many civs, so it's pure speculation at this point.
