I am going to take this as 100% waterproof confirmation that Italy, Florence, Sassanid, Safavid, and Seljuks are planned civs, please and thank you.
 
Looks like Nookrium didn't showcase Exploration civ unlocks, so here are some:

After a bit of confusion and a lot more counting, it seems that city size is not just population but also counts buildings and wonders. I have no idea why, this seems like a thing that was in no way broken to me and did not need change, but we can only hope Carl or so will eventually enlighten us about the reasoning behind this. Is it meant to give a more general understanding of the city's yield output since buildings provide yields equal to a specialist on the tile on their own?

Yeah, they discussed it in the Exploration stream @1:31:25, but didn't discuss the reasoning iirc. Still waiting to hear if it makes any actual difference in game.

Oh so it counts towards the 7-size requirement to specialize a town? I guess that makes sort of sense, but also makes growth very interchangeable with producing / buying stuff.
 
Good lord @ how badly this undercuts Kong's ability which is based on having Cities over towns. Not going Econ Legacy as Kong is like playing with a handicap.
I mean, you can only have so many Specialists if you have a lot of Cities and very few Towns. It really seems like Specialists will be the focus of what the devs are calling the "tall" playstyle, in which case it would fit him.

Some modern civ unlocks:

French Empire: Improve 3 Wine resources (lol)
Qing: Improve 3 Jade resources; Play as Ming
Russia: Have 3 Settlements on Tundra tiles
Siam: Have 4 Temples; Improve 3 Ivory resources
 
I wonder if focusing on Gold will become the superior strategy because it can be carried over between ages. There's a point where more science won't give you much of an advantage in the current age anymore, but you can bank a lot of gold and instantly rush a lot of stuff when the next age begins.
