I must admit that I'm still concerned about these islands spread out across the map. It just looks artificial and predictable to me.View attachment 717897
The Fractal map is slightly better that Boxinents+, still a little boxy though

I mean, that rocket looks very clearly based on soviet rockets of the Vostok family (as the one that out Gagarin in space) to me. The four tapering boosters arranged around the first stage are a pretty recognizably Soviet design.
There's no flag or national emblem, but the Cultural and Economy victory screens don't, either.
Well I dont think they could put St Basils in the backgroundI think that's a level of familiarity with rocket design that most people don't have - I've spent a pretty large chunk of time learning about space, but I couldn't have told you anything about the origin of the rocket. I'm glad that it is Soviet! But I don't think it's even close to how clear it is that the other two are British and French, Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower are a lot more recognisable than the Vostok rockets
Unless you’re implying it looks like Las Vegas the other two are clearly in RL cities.Well I dont think they could put St Basils in the backgroundThats the problem, the victory is about rocket launch and so the image is and I think its hard to make space launch station look very culture-specific. Though one could argue that the French image is very loose too.
So you'd like, as Victory Screen for first manned spaceflight, to be just an image of Moscow?Unless you’re implying it looks like Las Vegas the other two are clearly in RL cities.
Ooft, I don't like that. Cosmetics and mementos, ok sure why not, but that's too far for me.Remember those meta progression level is called as 'legend level'?
Look at this:

This is one of the leader attributes. You can't use this attribute until you unlock this node in leader path:

The example requires legend level 3 of Charlemagne's path.

I hope for a mod that unlocks every legend unlocks and mementos. If the start-up benefits from playing Starships to unlock things in BE (which are availiable in the code even without Starships) is any indication, I think it will be easy to mod the Legend Unlocks out.
You still have to spend the attribute point to get it in a particular game thoughOoft, I don't like that. Cosmetics and mementos, ok sure why not, but that's too far for me.
Right. Even if you unlock it, you're not obliged to use it.You still have to spend the attribute point to get it in a particular game though
No more firepower either. Thanks for the clarification. Defense boni have always existed (at least in civ3/4, forgot about 5/6). However, there was a place for cavalry or infantry depending whether you wanted defenders or attackers.
I shall check more playthroughs then

I think those were already shown in the images of the dev blog. Maybe not desribed in words so much.Ooft, I don't like that. Cosmetics and mementos, ok sure why not, but that's too far for me.
It's likely what those things will be stored online and not available for direct unlock.I hope for a mod that unlocks every legend unlocks and mementos.
Well, I missed it, or didn't quite understand it would work this way. I don't mind mementos because you can choose not to use them, they're fun little toys to extend replayability. But having actual in-game bonuses tied to meta progression is not something that I like.I think those were already shown in the images of the dev blog. Maybe not desribed in words so much.
So I am bit surprised that this is now somehow new info.
I fail to see difference. Both are in game bonuses not mandatory to use. Their application is just done in different menu. And with the latter you loose something else. So the first is actually mechanically more ”bad”.Well, I missed it, or didn't quite understand it would work this way. Well I see a difference, and I don't like it, sorry. I don't want to be faced with locked attributes in the middle of an interesting game, just because I haven't played that leader enough before. Mementos are designed to be mix and match, this is a static tree with locked attributes. There is a world of difference in my eyes, and I don't like it.I fail to see difference.
