I am seeing this sometimes, too! It's not all the time, and can't put my finger on when it comes up. I am playing on a high-end Mac computer. The game runs flawlessly aside from this.View attachment 718976
Something I've been noticing more and more is seeing the seams between the tiles of the map. Is anyone else seeing this?
It's hard to believe that Gwendoline Christie costs more than Sean Bean.I'm really disappointed with the narration on this game. When they announced Gwendoline Christie, I was worried the game would have less voiced lines due to budget, as happened to Civ VI. I didn't expect to be even worse. In Civ VI, they reduced the exclusive intro text to each leader and added a portion that was reused across games. On VI, the intro texts have a single line read. That's a bummer, I loved Civ V's loading screen.
I would imagine for something like this they cost whatever the rate set by SAG (or the British equivalent, depending on where they recorded) is for big name actors to do voice over for video games. That rate could be higher today than for most of the recording of Civ 6.It's hard to believe that Gwendoline Christie costs more than Sean Bean.
Bean is a bigger name than Christie, is my point.I would imagine for something like this they cost whatever the rate set by SAG (or the British equivalent, depending on where they recorded) is for big name actors to do voice over for video games. Technically, Christie is twice as big a name as Bean. And worth more in scrabble!Bean is a bigger name than Christie, is my point.
I've heard many complaints about the overuse of Sean Bean last game, that I wonder if this was due to the fact that people got tired of hearing his voice?I'm really disappointed with the narration on this game. I'd argue that she's been bigger and involved in more acclaimed things in the last decade, at least. Bean certainly was a bigger before that.Bean is a bigger name than Christie, is my point.
In this case, I think her voice is really appropriate to the literary quality of the quotes. I really love Sean Bean, but his working-class accent didn't really fit the lines he was reading. And as much as everyone loves Nimoy, I thought his Civilization voiceover was really grating. That's part of why I have never understood why people always want "that famous person from that scifi/fantasy show." I would prefer the best possible professional voiceover actor for the task (not that any of them have done a bad job, mind you). But is it really that big of a draw for the game?
She was in Game of Thrones, and.... ?I'd argue that she's been bigger and involved in more acclaimed things in the last decade, at least. Bean certainly was a bigger before that.
They might both be at the same rate for voice-over for games. The question is whether a narrator role for Civ is a big enough gig to get a contract with an individual rate. For narration alone I don't necessarily think that's the case, as it's not a starring role like, say Kratos in God of War, but I could very well be wrong. It's also not a role where they use your likeness as well as your voice (Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk, for example, though that may be so big a name it's a poor comparison).Bean is a bigger name than Christie, is my point.
I'm probably biased because V is the game I'm fondest of, but William Morgan Sheppard is my favorite narrator in the series. In this case, I think her voice is really appropriate to the literary quality of the quotes. "The katun is established at Chichen Itza. The settlement of the Itza shall take place there. The quetzal shall come, the green bird shall come. Ah Kantenal shall come. It is the word of God. The Itza shall come."I'm probably biased because V is the game I'm fondest of, but William Morgan Sheppard is my favorite narrator in the series.
She was the headmistress on season 1 of Netflix's Wednesday. I believe that's their second most popular show after Stranger Things. In this case, I think her voice is really appropriate to the literary quality of the quotes. Don't say "Star Wars." She was barely even in that.
But only until halfway through Exploration for some reason.I feel really dumb, I only just noticed that you can collect goody huts on land with ships using the coastal raid button.
Yeah, I've noticed IP units coming from the other side of the landmass to attack one of my cities.I have noticed that Galleys don't heal outside territory, despite the devs saying that they would and them having the Heal command. If you put a Galley on Heal out in neutral territory it will just stay there forever until some barbarians come along and kill it... and you won't get any kind of notification until it's already dead.
Beware the temptation to leave a settlement unguarded just because there aren't any hostiles nearby... the independent powers will send troops a LONG way to attack you. I suspect they can detect unguarded settlements even though they have no visibility of them.
Here Syvash and Izirtu have clearly been deeply offended by something they heard Indrapura and Hariharayaya did.
