Snoopy's Terrain Graphics Modpack for Conquests

Snoopy's Terrain Graphics v4.5 for Civ3 Conquests (C3C) 2016-10-05

If all you have is one folder, you have to cut and paste the contents of that folder. This should include the .biq folder (which will show up as the scenario), a folder of the same name and a readme file.

ok this is what happened:i extract the files and copy the folder into scenarios of civ3conquests. then i turn on the game and go to civ content. its not there. i start a new game;. i catch a glimpse of the terrain and then the game just shuts off without warning. what do i do???

The scenario is packaged *inside* the folder you get when you unpack it. It consists of a .biq file, a folder of the same name as the .biq file and a readme file. It is these 3 things that need to be copied to the scenarios folder.

The game shutting down should be unrelated to moving that folder as you describe. That sounds like a different problem.

it still doesnt work! do i have to extract the files into the scenario folder and remove the folder the files are in???? any way the editor works in the terrain but it doesnt show up in civ content!!!!!

Extact the .zip file to a temporary location. Open the folder that is created to access the 3 items needed. Copy or move those 3 items to the Conquests\Scenarios folder. Make sure you are using the C3C folder and not PTW or vanilla.

There is a way to permanantly install the terrain so that it shows up in all epic games without using the scenario but you are having trouble with some pretty basic concepts here so i'm not going to explain it.

thats exactly what I'm doing!i extract it to the original location, then i open the folder, copy those files into the civ3conquests scenario folder then go into the game but it doesnt appear in civ content!!! what do i have to do to make it show up in all epic games??????

What exactly are the names of the files and folders you are copying to the scenario folder? If the right ones are there, they will show up in civ content. Civ content just reads a list of the .biq files that are there.

The easiest way to permanantly install it for epic games:
a) backup the original conquests\art folder and keep it in a safe place
b) copy the snoopy's terrain\art folder
c) paste the copied folder over the top of the conquests\art folder and let it overwrite all the files
Now whenever you start or load an epic game, snoopys terrain will be there by default.

god im damn stupid!!!!!!i reinstalled my computer, but i put civilization in a differentfile that i did not put there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to raise the dead but...

is this supposed to be that way?

Looks like you are missing a file, so it is still using one of your old set. I have used Snoopy's since it came out and no problems.

Or could be a landmark terrain tile is still the old set.

I shouldn't be missing one, unless the download linked on the first page is incomplete. :/
to my knowledge it's not landmark, though i don't know how to check outside the editor.

Advanced Tactics is not in the basic game, you must be playing a scenario.

That could be a land mark terrain tile, looks like the lxpgc.pcx file.

Make a copy of your xpgc.pcx file and rename it Lxpgc.pcx, then replace your current lxpgc.pcx file with the newly named file.

You may have to do this for all the terrain files that begin with L, I seem to remember having this probel with LM terrain when I first used Snoopy's terrain.

Edit: I just downloaded and opened Snoopy's terrain and there are no LM terrain files.

To make them yourself, just copy all of Snoopy's x*** files and rename them lx*** and put them in the conquests/terrain folder.

aye, the Napoleonic era conquest. :)

ok, i'll try that. :)

EDIT: up it worked, thanks. :)

Question: I'd like to use this terrain set for my Civ Complete games. Including my old saved games and my own mods with rule changes.

Last time I tried replacing Snoopy's art files into the directories directly, it ended in disaster with the game shutting down on the Modern era, because for some reason, Asian culture group + Modern era caused the game to crash.
I even backed up the original art directories in Civ Vanilla and Civ complete, but replacing them back didn't seem to solve the problem. The game just crashed when I tried to open a game with Asian culture group in the modern area.
I had to reinstall the whole thing to fix the problem.

Any sage advice on how I go about doing this without possibly bonking my game?
And because the art assets for Conquests is split between the art directory in vanilla Civ and Conquests, do I need to replace the art directories in both places?

dexters, are you aware, that in Civ Complete, you have Sn00pys Terrain in different versions in the civ3PTW\scenarios folder?

You can easily adjust the graphics for your mods with modified rules (modified maps with LM-terrain are a different story/see above) by setting a path to these files in the scenario properties page of the biq. Here is an example for a setting I have for a mod with random maps. You only have to replace the name CCM from my mod with the name of your mod if this mod is placed in the scenarios folder of C3C.

Files that should be added or should overwrite files in the civ3PTW\scenarios folder, should be placed in the art/terrain folder of that scenario.

But remember that those versions of Sn00py's terrain don't have Volcanoes or Marshes!

Yes these files, LM-terrain, better irrigations and forests and so on are files that should be added in the art/terrain folder of that scenario.

well, if you download the files in this thread, copy the "Volcanoes.pcx" and "Marsh.pxc" (or something similar) to the Snoopy's Art\Terrain folder. It should work :)

I also found a quick way of doing this for future games running off my EpicMod biq.

I took the sn00py's c3c compatible folder made a copy and renamed it the same as my scenario name!
