I thought it might be fun to share our current games and what's going on in our Civ lives. Not intended to be a place for tips, advice or criticism, but just to see what's going on. Just for fun!

I've started a new game as Korea. I'm usually a wide player and wanted a change, so am trying a more tall based approach. I thought Korea's bonus of +1 science to specialists is good synergy. I've took tradition and have an engineer already working in my capital and I also managed to get the Goddess of Wisdom pantheon for extra science and faith to specialists. Mega specialists so early on! I'm aiming for a base of 4-5 cities to begin with and see how it develops from there. Only potential thorn in my side is my neighbour to the east...

Let's see how your current game is going!

Well... I think I'm doing fine xD. Emperor, Standard, Standard.

Morocco. Progress - Statecraft - Industry - Freedom. Going for Diplo Victory.

Had a nice production heavy start with salt and desert. So spirit of the desert was my pantheon. Rushed for Petra and got my shot with the Roman Forum.

Founded religion first and took Council of Elders since more Science = more key wonders and one step closer to Kasbahs, and production to build wonders. Trift, for more gold.

Arabia and Egypt were my allies during early game. But Arabia backstabbed almost everyone by mid game and well, everyone declared war on him... So did I, since it was a great chance to puppet his empire, eliminate his religion and get some strategic locations.

Indonesia crippled Siam and France early, so I did monopolize almost all city states and used my faith to spread further and further my religion to the point that Persia religion ceased to exist until late game, Egypt adopted my religion and Arabia, practically out of the game and without his holy city got erased too. This meant more votes from Religious authority (I passed world religion too).

Now on late game, Egypt stole some of my land using 2 citadels... So I denounced and sent some archeologists since he had defensive pacts with Indonesia and Poland, he shortly after declared war, poor boi got conquered easily thanks to the brutal sinergy between my massive gold output and Draft Registration.

Poland declared war too some turns after, he always hated me for the religion pressure... But he can't do much. I got the tech lead and decently promoted naval units.

Meanwhile, all my cities are totally developed, which means all buildings are constructed except for absolutely unnecesary ones... My gold output is broken and I just need to research 3 tech to unlock the victory condition, I honestly don't know how I snowballed this hard. lol.

Edit: More details.

Immortal Epic.
Vassalled celts and Austria.
Got stuck in an endless war vs spain.
Went sort of ok but Spains cities are coastal so endless faith buy ships and keeps replacing land units in no ending streams, despite losing countless units and so I'm not really getting anywhere.
I liberated a coastal vassal city 10+ times and lost count on how many units I've killed (easily 100+).
Is there a units killed counter mod somewhere?

In hindsight should have taken out all other civs and left spain for last will probably restart.
A good amount of indirect fire would have helped but I mostly spammed impis.
Melee heavy isnt good enough when I need to also clear a 100+ ships along with the land units.
Will try new game and go more heavy on the ranged indirect crossbows and hopefully choose my targets more wisely.
I could have taken out/vassaled england and shoshone instead of hammering on the endless spanish wall of units.

King difficulty, Huge Communitas map, Standard speed

Tradition Japan, I focus on settling my island and befriend the two local City-States. The two neighbouring islands host India and the Huns. We are all good friends for a while but this improbable bromance can't last. Gandhi snatching all the wonders and me getting close to samurais means that war is inevitable. Oh! But India has a defensive pact with the Huns. Hmmm... Bah... who cares? I declare (forgetting once more to denounce first). I raze two of India's coastal cities and move up to the inland capital, where all the wonders are. Sadly I get short of capturing it, Gandhi saving the day in a remarkable last-ditch effort. We sign a treaty. The war has dragged for a very long time (medieval to renaissance) with tremendous effects : Japan's unique ability combined with the samurais' has provided me with a constant stream of Great People. On turn 224 alone (Anno Domini 1570) I received no less than ten Great People!

GP Galore.jpg

Since then things have been lagging a bit, everyone resents me for the war and I haven't been paying due attention to diplomacy and city-states quests. There are a bit too many civs for me to keep a clear view of who hates who (except that everyone else hates me, that much is clear) so I think I'll have to revert to a smaller map next time. I only have a paltry two delegates in the congress and I am slowly getting to the bottom of the scoreboard, but cheer up! I am preparing for war again, since war seems to be the driving engine of my economy/cultural advancement. I need a long and dirty conflict, with plenty of casualties. I think I'll strike the Huns next...

I was thoroughly enjoying pretty much everything about the patch until Flight. My air units begin to vanish my neighbors start getting missiles and atom bombs while mine just vanish and it becomes not fun at that point.

Are you playing the latest beta version? That bug should have been fixed.

Some interesting games being shared here so far!

Playing progress Zulus Epic speed Emperor difficulty small size (6 players 12 CS) Communitu 79 V2 terra with strategic balance.
Had an awefully slow food-starved start, the immediate tiles around my capital were 2:c5production:1:c5food: forests and two wheat farms one of them on a river so i thought the saving grace for this start would be god of the sun, went shrine first and luckily enough i found two pop ruins that got me to 3 :c5citizen: earlier and a border growth ruin, one wine tile which did not get improved until like turn 100, two copper tiles one of them on a flat desert and no iron or horses ... just forests so the capital was just a terrible execuse for a satellite so i had to expand as early as possible to be able to actually produce units.
Just south to me Assyria with a really amazing start, 5 or 6 flood plains to the south and a lot of hills with gold and a marble tile too to the north, china was to the east with Cinnamon.
I produced a couple of spears to defend against Assyria's expected army and i was not disappointed, the declared war and brought some iron chariots (4th uc unit for Assyria) but with some tactical pillaging using my OG scout i managed to make his uniques just fancy horsemen my spears can deal with.
Dragged this pillage war for sometime to farm XP with the new Iklwa promotion then got an armistice.
By that point at around t140 i had founded first and went on laser eyes Shaka mode, Hero worship, orders and Terracotta army.
Avoided spreading my religion to Assyria early because i don't want him getting orders and using his accumulated faith to mass buy them making my life even harder with this start ... I spread to my high production cities first and switched to Swordsman production then a lengthy war that did not get me anywhere but take a bad satellite then signed a peace treaty.
Beelined steel and physics got 7 trebuchets and upgraded my veteran spears and swords and called it a day, wiped assyria in no time but you Know china did not like it ... They are in no shape to fight so they got the Great wall and stole my land with the general, saw another general trying to get more land so i insta declared war ...China was the 1st in score board and They had a huge amount of land so it served as a good XP farm for my to-be Impis .... Surrounded their cities with walls of leveled melee and trebuchets from the backlines tearing down the cities defenses.
The first war with China ended with them losing the capital (Their holy city aswell) and a satellite.
They offered to capitualte but i took some gold instead because i wanted their cities and their resources.
China had defensive pacts with both Poland and Morocco, Morocco was too far to send any meaningful army but Poland sent their fleet and some Embarked units but we had signed the peace treaty before any real clash happens.
I delayed the upper part of the tech tree for a while to get to gunpowder and as soon as i got it i DWed China again with Impis and canons they just could not stand a chance losing the entirety of their mainland cities and a mini continent with 2 cities as well.
Poland, Morocco and Germany are on what seems to be another continent connected to the mainland by a long 1-tile wide stalk of grassland and there is no way i can deploy my land forces their without naval escorts which i don't have.
It'll be interesing to see how does this workout especially when i'm racing against time because the three Civs have not got their UUs yet and i don't want to find myself fighting Winged Hussars and Berber Cavlary at the same the same time.

Was caught seriously off guard with an attack by Songhai. They didn't even denounce me. I've managed to repel their invasion with minimal losses but it's recked my economy and they've plundered my trade routes. I really want to get a science victory with this game but I feel like I'm slowly starting to slip...

Some people reported it is still not fixed.

The problem with such bugs is that they work fine on developers end, so they must guess why it is not working on some peoples computer.
are your units not disappearing. looking at this forum im finding alot of people dont usually play to the era of plans and nuclear missiles.

Update on the game.

Well, seems like leveled up Impis are invincible, i have not lost a single one even without kill on heal from authority .... The hardest part of the Conquest was crossing that long bridge between China's OG cities and Poland's defenses.

Spoiler When you have +40 melee land units but that's the only way across. :

Won a DV, funnily enough i got the last two capitals (Morocco and Germany) in the same turn.

Spoiler T364 on Epic speed DV, not super optimized but was super fun. :

Playing a game with Shoshone (the only reason I have Ruins turned on). Continents Standard everything.

Took Progress for opener and Festivals for Pantheon just for fun. Easily expanded to 5 cities and nobody was bothering me - Ethiopia was only neighbour and was friendly.

Got first Religion. Took one of the buildings that starts with P or something (not Pagodas), Cooperation, Abode of Peace, and the first one for spreading to get Culture and Food in Capital. I Propheted my way through my continent (just took one) with some missionaries and my religion dominated my continent.

Ethiopia got mad at me for that and declared war. I thrashed him, taking 3 cities including his Capital, which gave me Borobudur and a Vassal. Rome and Zulu on the same continent never bothered me.

Met the other continent and had the Reformation for World Congress passing resolutions. I led the council and have passed all of them, but in modern era they actually voted me out of the captain's chair.

Sent 5 Prophets and about 20 missionaries to the other Continent, which had 3 religions, one of which was Constantinople. Obliterated all religious presence there (with some effort) so that now the only religion in the world is mine. I passed that resolution of course.

Have had double the points of everyone else all game. Have about 30ish wonders at turn 300, and second place has 3. Influential over everyone. Only recently Zulu decided to war me and isn't doing bad, but I can outproduce him and is the 2nd war I've had all game. Just need to get my 2nd 3rd-level ideology and culture win will be easy - especially since I can buy Great Writers and haven't purchased a single one yet. I also crush everyone in votes and military.

So the game's going kinda okay I guess. :p

I should toss in additionally that I have no idea what the purpose of the Comanche Rider is supposed to be or what incentive there is to use it. I'm really scratching my head on this one because basically every other unit I can build is more useful to me in every way.

Should post in the respective leader balance threads.

Are Zulu too good now?

I have played 3 games on emperor difficulty in YnAEMP with 43civs and I notice most of the times, small civs with 1-3 cities snowball culture, tech and wonders really quickly even when adopting authority without having any natural resources. I end up having to rely heavily on spies and trade to even keep up with them. All my neighboring civs always have troops with tier 4 and 5 promotions which really slowed my expansion and all neighboring city states are impossible to keep a positive relationship with. All civs at mid to late game have similar tech and culture levels no matter what with the exception of the snowballing front runner which is disappointing as I always like the aspect of traveling to a far away continent and either finding a extremely advanced group of civs or extremely backward group of civs. It would be great if trade can be buffed to encourage more diversity in tech and culture levels and for civs to have more control on who can trade with them through a tariff system besides the slow and painful method of sanctioning someone, I want to see more factions and long term alliances forged between different civs and the player. I hope this gives my experience with vox populi atm.

They are imo. Zulu warriors can get March, City Assault, Stelwart and Blitz *easily*.

Also, I think the +2 exp per turn is not AI friendly. Humans are just way better "exploiting" this.

Currently I am destroying Sweden, even when they have decently Promoted troops, great generals, Anti Warmonger Fervor AND the fight is mostly on Jungle. I don't even have my Impis yet.

Will do ofc.
Are they fun? Absolutely.
Are they top tier warmongers like Mongolia, Songhai or even Sweeden? Nope, but they feel much better now.

I'd put Zulu above Mongolia now (skirmisher doctrine really hurts Mongolia), below Songhai, and evenish with Sweden?

Promoted Zulu infantry are probably best in class now, but getting there requires work. Zulu are a ticking time bomb from a military perspective, kind of like Korea with late game science. Songhai and other early game warmongers can take Zulu out before it gets going. Zulu needs units with the full Buffalo line and then some upgrades to really roll.

I haven't played against a Zulu AI yet to see whether the AI is picking the Buffalo line.

Terribly! But that's my own fault. Apparently, I have no business playing on Immortal yet.

Korea, Communitas map, Immortal. Got Pyramids, three decent cities, Goddess of Purity pantheon and tobacco connected at what felt like decent timing, but still watched the last religion disappear while I had about 720 faith on turn 84. I am playing on an older version and I think this has been modified now, but yes, it turned out nigh impossible to found in this game. Missed Hanging Gardens too. Starting with three very close neighbors, my initial plan was to get three cities and turtle, then vassal whoever invades first, but I'm starting to doubt this will work out. The Zulus and Maya are definitely coming someday, but I thought turtling as Korea should help me get a tech lead, and it is only just starting to happen.upload_2020-8-23_14-30-56.png
