So you're in love with your best friend, Part Deux

http://xkcd.com/513/

Just... http://xkcd.com/513/

If I had seen this comic when I was 19 years old, the trouble I could have saved myself... wow.

On the prior thread someone asked how someone could fall in love with their best friend--

My answer---because she's smoking hot and you've watched too many John Hughes movies.

Glad you feel free of your burden...

That particular strip is stupid... and I say that as a general fan of xkcd

"Bit by bit, I'll make you depend on me"

Is that the sort of relationship you want to have with someone you consider your best friend? Seems pathetic to me.

That was almost two years ago... how it ended up.. I mean how's the current situation... do you have a girlfriend? .. did you fell in love again?

cheers.

Wow necro post. Any updates Cheezy? I'm assuming it went pear shaped- been there done that LOL.

Now what you need Cheezy is the spirit that Michael Jackson put in this song:

Link to video.

Sorry for the crappy audio. Look for a better source.

Indeed I have. We've been dating for a little over a year now, and things are going wonderfully. :)

We have a drink every now and then, but that's about the extent of it.

And they lived together forever and ever! what a happy ending! ... hehe I suggest this thread should be closed

:)

Well, you really don't deserve this kinda crap Cheezy.

But for what it's worth, did you ever see that Family Guy where Stewie tells Olivia that her face has texture of a decorative autumn squash? Yeah, that's what you should have done. Cuz chicks mostly like bad guys. Either that, or you should have persistently guilt tripped her into falling for you by making her feel bad she's with other guys that are treating her like crap.

No no, I'm dating a different girl.

I agree. Which is why I ended this venture years ago. :)

No I haven't seen it.

I would say, though, that my wisdom about women has increased immeasurably since this incident (and much simply because of it). But at the same time I also realize that I really don't know anything about them. :crazyeye:

Been there, done that. You'll get over it.

I second this. Although I've also been in situations where things have changed. Life goes on and being happy is better than dwelling over what makes you miserable. Try to keep the friendship. You may find that that's really what you wanted to keep anyway.

And you never will. I'm 31 and have been with mine for 9 years. Still don't "get" them. One of the cons about being a male.

Man, that is (male-female is biology, man-woman is gender). Gender differences in personality are conditioned by society, not biologically innate to males and females. Incidentally, because of this, a sufficiently sophisticated knowledge of psychology and the nature of your own society should make it easy to understand the nature of both traditional genders, regardless of which one you may or may not have been taught.

Sorry for the off-topic post but it has to be said; always the tone of conversation is "women are mysterious, incomprehensible creatures," which is just a rung above outright misogyny, which is also common. A completely different point of view needs to be thrown out there for some small semblance of balance.

cheeze, i wish i could have given you this advise before, but i'll leave this here for posterity's sake and the education of the younger ones:

Why is that? I'd feel very clingy, I guess that's the word. Which I never understood in the first place, what people's problem is with clingy people of the opposite sex, you'd think they'd admire their loyalty, but it's looked upon as being a bad attribute,

because it's annoying to have no space for yourself and it gets freaking boring.

Must defend xkcd... *shambles back into the thread*

Either you're missing its irony, or I'm missing yours.
