SOAPBOX: Gallipoli + Prometheus: Best Works of Art in History

Goerge W. Bush says otherwise.
Checkmate.

Bush can because he is The Man.

You're David Hobbs.

Spot the difference? :D

Canada is our colony NJ, we've loaned it out to you because we are awesome and thought the hat would suit you better then us but make no mistake its all ours ;)
You only think it's loaned. We actually acquired it in 1994, but we haven't given you your miniature American flags in payment yet. :D

Um. That's a fairly narrow range of interests you have there, Mr Hobbs.

Kemel was very grateful for it all, though.
Yeah, without Gallipoli, Kemal's career in the First World War would've been an unbroken chain of disasters.

When did I say the Polaroid was a good camera?

As much as I disliked both of these films, I must say I prefer Prometheus. At least that one had an interesting art direction and visual effects, even if they were just piggybacking on the far superior Alien.

Oh God Prometheus, I already forgot about that movie.

Not entirely sure if this is a serious thread, but I'll treat it as such.

Gallipoli

I have not seen it, but I've only seen 2 films from Peter Weir's large back catalogue. The Truman Show and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World are both masterpieces in my eyes. I've seen The Way Back but it was on an airplane and I won't judge it til I see it again.

I look forward to eventually seeing Gallipoli.

I'm not expecting an historically accurate story, but I am expecting a well told story. I know better than to expect history lessons from the movies.

Prometheus

[Large amount of text deleted]

3D is irrelevant to the quality of the film. It looked spectacular in 2D. It's a very high quality production. The glaring issue with this film is in the script. Beyond the first 6 episodes I didn't watch Lost. I take Prometheus as a warning to not watch it.

Obviously some people also had problems trying to follow the fast-past, complex and extraordinarily deep plot. They keep trying to make up invented and contrived 'plot holes' because they can't understand the full brilliance.
.

No problems at all over here. It was complicated but I kept up. While it may require certain forms of intelligence to keep up with a fast paced and complicated plot, a fast paced and complicated plot is not necessarily intelligent and Prometheus is a great example of that asymmetry.

What a terribad thing for a friend of Dorothy to say. That's self-sabotage of the highest water.

What a terrible disasterface of a movie. ugh
Stop bashing a great movie like that from behind a curtain of anonymity! Come out and bash it in public like a real man!

Zardoz wasn't too bad, though.

See? Wizard of Oz.

(On second thoughts, I was probably very drunk when I saw it.)

EDIT: the more clips I see of this, the more I'm convinced it's appalling.

Aye. Drink until you can't see straight. Then watch Zardoz, and enjoy.

You're just exciting my Gibson wood with all this 'come out' and 'real man' stuff.

My motivation for making this thread:
I love these movies, I really do but something had to be done to stop the asshats.
