Pagans have been celebrating the 3 day resurrection of the sun long before Jesus, so the concept certainly was not foreign to the early Christians... So did Christians adopt that pagan belief too? Prior to Jesus' death, if anyone mentioned resurrection they'd probably identify their solar rituals. Even those earliest of Christians knew the significance of the solstice, they were most definitely into astrology - the fish being Pisces of course.
"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."What did Isaiah have to say
Absolutely nothing, since whatever that is it's entirely irrelevant in Abrahamic religion.and why does it preclude a reference to the next age when Virgo will rise on the autumnal equinox opposite the fish?
And why should you assume that this has anything to do with Jesus? You can't analyze a historical figure the same way you would a mythic one, even if you don't think the accounts of his life are accurate. If I were reading a biography of Jefferson Davis by some traitor fapping over how awesome he was, I wouldn't analyze it the same way I would a story about Heracles.I dont know what you mean by the Hebrews having a different zodiac, are you saying the Hebrews and Greeks didn't both know about Pisces the Fish and Aries the Ram? Of course the Hebrews had earlier access to Babylonian/Chaldean astronomy but the Greeks acquired that knowledge long before Jesus showed up.
God was with us before Jesus showed up and his name is not Immanuel anyway (nor did Jesus claim to be God), but I'm not talking about astrology. This is basic astronomy to ancient peoples all over the world and not only did the ancient Hebrews use the lunar calendar from Nippur, Genesis says God made lights in the sky to serve for signs and timekeeping, etc . The Ram (the "age" of Aries) was giving way to the age of the Fish (Pisces) in the time of Jesus just as the Ram would replace Taurus the Bull around the time of Abram. If you're interested in the subject I'd suggest the book Hamlet's Mill, it delves into the matter of precession and how it became part of our cultures. I never said Jesus was mythical or historical, that dont matter to the Great Gig in the Sky...
Btw, if God keeps making new deals with people every time a new age rolls around, maybe Aquarius will be a new deal.![]()
