Solver's unofficial BtS 3.17 patch

Twice in my current game (3.17 + Solver's 0.15), I have as a voting member (running Free Religion) Defied an AP resolution. Each time I checked a large (15+) city on the following turn, and there was NO additional unhappiness!

Undocumented 3.17 change, or what? Can others confirm my experience?

Was the AP-Religion present in that city ? Otherwise they don't care.

If you are planning ahead a jungle NP you probably not need / not using automated workers anyway...

In 3.17 you might also want to leave jungle outside BFCs alone for some pollution prevention.

Lads, please note that a separate subforum has been created for the unofficial patch. I'm in the process of moving some information there, and while this thread will remain open, it'd be good to move most of the discussion to the subforum. The 3.17 unofficial patch has been out a week and the thread has really grown, so a subforum will make it much easier for everyone to follow and post in.

I agree. Gandhi is ridiculous with his capitulation, for example.

I'm not one hundred percent sure but keep in mind the "closeness bug" that was found in the "Better Than BTS" forum. Although not directly related, it's possible that AI's that correctly assess regionality during war planning would have an impact on how vassal agreements play out.

For evidence of this, check out the "Better Than BTS" forum post #60 and subsequent posts where we have begun to "unpick" the AI behaviour (vassal and war plan) of a reference game Jdog5000 uploaded. Help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Hey I don't really have time to read this entire thread so I was wondering if y'all could answer a couple of my questions, first of all I've made a few modifications in the bts XML files that seam to be working ok and I was wanting to know that if I install this patch would it change them back, if not would they still work afterwords, and will my current 3.17 saves work with Solvers or Bruic's(sp?) patches?

Do you have enough time to download the patch and look and see if it contains the same XML files as you've modified?
If it does, well then your changes will not persist.

So long as you don't have Locked Custom Assets, saves are compatible either way.

Good idea, but in terms of visibility to the masses, wouldn't it be better placed as a sub-forum of "Civ4 - Beyond the Sword"?

"Civ4 Creation & Customization > Civ4 Project and Mod Development > Civ4 - Unofficial Patches" is awfully inconspicious when it should be deserving of much higher level exposure.

Best solution would be to have a stickied thread in several different forums, each of which which simply has a redirect link and does not itself allow posting.

Technically, the unofficial patch is a mod, hence it belongs to the mod forums. The stickied thread in the BTS forum also ensures mass visibility much better than relegating the folder to any other place. Let's discuss bugs and AI improvements instead of administration minutiae. :)

If links are the way to go, then the first post of this thread should point to the right forum. Currently, it's just a post you'd only see if you read the whole thread. Not a very useful location for the links.

The stickied thread in this forum will stay to point new players to the subforum. The first post in this thread will, of course, link to it - as soon as I'm done moving there, which means doing the info writeups. I should be done with that later today.

The only reason that folder is inconspicuous is because the average played doesn't go there. This is something the average player would go there for.

Maybe if they new it was there to begin with... but they don't know that if they don't go there in the first place... :mischief:

I've never been there before, and I'm a modder myself!
