Devil's advocate: I think you could very well make the case that JoanK and ATPG were employing a tried and true distancing tactic (cutesy banter, voting for each other) without realizing that this could be putting one of them in legitimate danger. This could also explain why JoanK was so confused as to why someone would try and kill him at night (Freudian slip).

I see the possibility, just a lack of conclusive evidence or anything really confirming that. Perhaps a scan or other action is warranted on JoanK. Also given the personalities involved, I would not put a lot of money on ATPG voluntarily killing himself off that early in the game. I could be wrong, but I just don’t see it.

Why am I scum?
I know why you think so. I used my ability (which is to scan) on zack, redirected to Mechaenrik. So you think I tried to kill Zack and killed Mechaenrick. That is not true. It is just someone else who targetted zack AS WELL. I was going to inform Zack on it, but you beat me to it.

And By the way, I used my ability on you as well, so I can tell you in private who you are (or at least who your cover role is)

I somehow had to answer. I knew this would be the reply, but still, I felt I had to reply. I think I'm going thru some kind of second n00b-ness or something... too long without Mafia...

My statement earlier was incorrect. I totally forgot the Mafia could've coincidentally targeted mechaerik.

Alright, here are the possibilities:

A) DF indeed is telling the truth, and was forced to scan mechaerik.

B) He is directly lying and is mafia or an SK.

He guessed my role wrong, but I am "neutral" so that could very possibly be a cover role that I was not informed of.

So I now have no way to guarantee that DF is or is not scum. However, I definitely don't want to lynch someone who is innocent...

That's all you needed to say. Everyone pleads not guilty, and second-guessing yourself after they do so is natural. That said, empirical evidence ("he claimed to scan my role, but it was completely wrong") ALWAYS trumps circumstantial evidence ("well, he did claim to be a scanner...").

I think the role he's claiming is basically identical to Mergle's in Darths and Droids.

On second thought, Darth Feather did claim to be the guy that says "We ain't found [crap]!" So he very well could be a "false" cop. That would also explain why he was so willing to use his obviously fake scans as evidence to clear his name.

I dunno, man. There's nothing better to go on. We're not losing anything of value if he's not mafia.
