I couldn't sleep last night and went through a regent OCC in 2 hours... which is pretty fast for me. I tend to be a perfectionist when I play, I suppose.

Has anyone tried to set speed records (time played) for winning the games?

Kind of in the spirit of quake done quick :)

Also thanks to everyone on the forum for their info and tips. I got my first emporer win last week. (A 5 city challenge, actually)

i happened to finish a speedy game a few days ago and i posted the screen shot in the 'proudest screen shot' thread.
here is the link:

(my screen shot is at the very bottom of that page)

it's emporor level, standard map. i finished it in 2and half an hour. i guess i'm on par with you since the level is a little higher and so i need more time to trade with others to check F4,etc.

No that's quite a bit more impressive than what I did. I was just doing 1CC on a small map, and pretty much blew the AI away tech wise. I did have to trade for resources constantly, though.. and deal with the fact that they were trying to kill me. My 5cc win on emperor took 7 hours I think.

But I expect there are some crazy people out there that can burn through these games orders of magnitude faster than me.

i started a game,on tiny map, easiest level 1 opponent,i just wanted to see the conquest animations, which ive never seen,i ususally abondeon a game when i conquered 70% of the total land

anyway that game took like 20 minutes, with teh egyptians building one city only, and losing it pretty fast :)

My fastest game was tiny, chieftain, 1 opponent. It turned out that the opponent was about 4-5 squares away, so I just walked right into their as yet undefended capital with my first warrior. Total time: less than 3 minutes.

so AI does leave city undefended? i have never seen that happened!

I got 5559 points for that game. Because it was on chieftain, the AI had no military units to start with, and I found their capital before they had time to finish building their first unit.

The Aztecs are an excellent choice for this type of game (tiny map, easy difficulty, just trying to walk into the AI capital before they build any defenders). The Aztecs UU, the jaguar warrior, replaces the warrior, so can be built from the start and has movement of 2 so you can get to the AI city more quickly - (if you can guess right which direction it is in;) )
