No, not that it was incoherent... It's just... Too much...

Waterdeep was under attack. The serpents had come out of nowhere, and started to randomly slaughter and consume the mareghar. Fortunately, the Sealords had responded fast by creating an impassable barrier around the city, made of sort of water, thick and heavy. The serpents circled around the city, shadows that stalked it. Their numbers were only few, fair couple hundred, but almost none of mareghar's weapons could penetrate their hide. The largest of them were almost fifty meters long and three meters wide. Fortunately only two or three of them were that big. Others varied from six to twenty meters. Someone had also reported of a one that was almost hundred meters long, but the scout had obviously been lying, and had been ignored. Their hides color was a mixture of blue and gray. They were covered in large scales. They had not yet found the other cities, thank goodness.

There were also some sort of lizards among them. They were relatively small, only five to six meters long, and were apparently some sort servants to serpents.

Dareos stood near the barrier. He studied it with care. It reached all the way around and over the city. It's substance was not hard; it was rather flexible than anything else. If the beasts would try to break it with force, it would give in a little, just enough to make their efforts useless. Unfortunately it also held the mareghar inside, effectively making the situation a draw.

Even Dareos himself had gone through some serious changes during his 'adoptation to the current environment', as the Sealords called it. He had supervised his own transformation with extreme personal interest and intensity. His body was covered in tiny, silvery fishscales, and he had highly advanced capability to swim. Meaning he had a fin in his back and loose layer of skin between his fingers and toes. His hair had been replaced with a sort of mane that would help to balance his swim. Recently he had started to focus on controlling and communicating with the life in the sea, but not all of Sealords had shared his interest on the subject. Some had started to study the essence of sea in an intense way that had not seen before. It had affected even their bodies, giving them slight touch of transparency, and skill to feed on plancton and such. They didn't even have to really move to feed.

Something woke Dareos from his deep thoughts. Was something moving in the other side of the barrier? Was there a shadow, that was approaching? No. It couldn't be, it was too big. It propably was just a cloud that covered the sun from the spot, and created the shadow.

Soon Dareos couldn't support his illusion anymore. His head was five meters wide, and his body vanished to the shadows behind him. And he was staring directly at Dareos. The Waterlord took one careful step back. He wasn't sure if even their mighty barrier could stop that beast. Fear not, small man. I will not kill you. I am here for a bargain. Now Dareos could feel the intelligence and spark radiate from the serpent. It's powers were mighty, stronger than anything he had ever felt, but highly unfocused and undirected. The serpent had a big club but no hands to use it with, so to say.

It is obvious that we have ended up into a situation that neither of use will benefit. But now that we are awake, we are forced – by hunger – to hunt, and kill. Somehow his words came in to my mind, never touching my ears. ”What if we -” No need to speak. Just think. Now that I've established the connection, you also can use it.

They began the negotiations of an alliance.

Question:

As I no longer can create my Knights of the Flame UU, could I make a new UU, without my remaining Knight of the Flame being destroyed? Please, I like him.

Wow @ story, Betrayed. I knew that you had planned this for long, but were you working on a story for all that time as well?

I can be fast-fingered when I get a good shot of inspiration.

No problem. It's like having an obsolete UU. I have to explain this bit for everyone:

Since this isn't a normal NES with years or decades even between updates, the demoted UUs will still remain, although you can't recruit new ones. Without the extra attention and honor, they will likely degrade to normal units of their type after a while, and in the end will merge with them. Basically, it's the same thing as in any other NES, just that it really takes time/turns/years before the obsolete UU no longer exists.

The darkness, covering his eyes, lifted and revealed the rest of the council of the nine to be standing in nothingness (I know that's not a real word). Corkoran found, that he had great difficulty in maintaining his avatar preseance in this mental image that they were all in. Sokuram, one of the nine present, was the first to speak.

"So, why have you called the rest of us here?" - He directed the quetion to Sulimann who, unlike her physical self, was able to stand without the help of a wooden staff.

"Some of you would probably want to know, what's this deal with the intervention against Seth Dehos and favouring the Republic." - Sulimann answered calmly, adressing her answer to all present. She got agreeing nods and mumbling as a reply.

"As you know. For nearly the past 12 years differeant nations, including Soltyria, have fought over the academies that were left over from the Wu'di period of time. And now only 6 branches of pure magic remain intact." - She said, looking to the eyes of each person there.

"But aren't there are 7 branches intact?" - Gauvard, the War Minister, interrupted.

"You very well know the council's position towards Necromancy." - Sulimann replied with a frown.

"The remaining branches of magic are; Fire, Water, Air, Nature, Earth and Illusion. Out of those the fate of the Air academy is still uncertain. Life and Divination branches have been destroyed. The same fate will eventually meet the rest of the branches if nothing is done."

"Life and Divination were only good to have been destroyed, and so should Death magic aswell, as Man must never have power over Life or Death or know what the future holds. It is too dangerous for creatures such as us. The Wu'di halfgod-princes are good evidence of what whent wrong with humanity." - Sulimann continued

"But the other 6 branches of magic, that can be turned to good usage, must not be allowed the same fate of destruction." - She said, looking directly into Arhwizard Ged's eyes as she said that.

"So, what do you propose that we do?" - Archwizard Ged finally spoke.

Sulimann showed them a mental image of an island where everything was in perfect peace and stability.

"Of cource, this island is only a dream. It does not exist, atleast not yet." - She said

"My goal has for all my time in the office of Magic Minister to promote this goal, through all means necessary."

"The war with Shaemar, the cooperation with the Republic and the attack against Seth Dethos. Was all working towards this one goal. To copy and protect the last 6 branches of magic. After that would be complete, an island would be raised from the deeps. It would be shaped with Nature and Earth magic into a paradise. In there a city would be constructed, populated only by adepts and people with the spark. In the city's center a giant academy would be constructed with all the remaining six pure brances." - Sulimann was showing all this in the mental image of the island that she dreamt of, as she talked.

"There, the Island would be a safe haven for Magic and Adepts, the island itself being controlled by no nation. But an Order consisting of only Adepts. that Order would find and train people with the spark worldwide."

"You realize that nations and peoples would come after the order who controlled the island?" - Gauvard put in.

"Of cource, the island would be shielded by the Order's navy and adepts, illusions, walls of air and massive currents of water. All of which would be constantly maintaned." - Sulimann explained

"And what will our King say to this?" - Corkoran asked.

"He won't say anything as this discussion will remain in Adept circles only." - Archwizard Ged replied, before Sulimann could.

"And what would this Order be called?" - Came the question from Honorary Masterdruid Thorion

"The Order Of Tranquility" - Came the answer from Sulimann.

I knew you were pursuing some obscure hipi-like dream. My suspicions are confirmed that you were after the 4 elemental magicks.Damn you!And apparently some kind of hitleresque plan of an adept only nation.

I like your avatar, BTW, Cleric. Is it the female companion of Seth Dethos? What was their relationship anyway? Lovers? Father-daughter? BOTH?!

The Oath of Wrath

The battle had already lasted for days, possibly for weeks. In the heat of the battle nothing remained of the formations and tactics that the Ramonian Generals were so proud of.The fighting was that intense that everybody just fought for his own. Now and then small groups banded together, but most oftenly everybody went for his own after a few minutes. Only a very special leader would be respected in this theatre of terror.

Prince Coronas, heir of the throne of the Kingdom of Ramon, had formed a small band of fierce fighters around him. Some of these men were veterans of many battles, who carried their numerous battle scars with great honour. Nothing could shake them anymore, as they had seen everything. They knew this citadel. How often had they fought around the now blood covered walls of the former Citadel of Life? Nobody remembered anymore. Years ago they were fighing the forces of Wu'di to wrestle the grande citadel of Life out of their wretched hands. Back then the Delanorians were friends of Ramon. Ha! How foolishly had Ramon trusted its southern neighbour. How fast had the joy over the hard-fought victory turned into the extreme opposite. Much had happend since the cursed day when the Academy of Life exploded infront of the eyes of the soldiers who had fought so hard for it. Now even the last voice who had ever called for peace and friendsship with the former ally had hushed.

Only hate remained. Hate for everything that had happened in the last years. How much sorrow had they lived through? How much terror had then seen on the battlefield? Now only one thing held them together, preventing them from collapsing into the blood filled streets of this cursed city. Their hate. They weren't done yet. They had sworn a holy code. They had sworn by their own blood that they would not rest until the last Delanorian was dead. They had sworn that they would kill the women, the elders and the children. They had sworn that only death could stop them. Every single day more and more soldiers, veterans and freshmen alike, spoke the holy words of the Oath of Wrath, commiting their lifes to war and terror.

Prince Coronas had been one of the first.

But he hadn't only spoken the holy words of the Oath of Wrath, committing himself to endless bloodshedding. He had also given the followers of the Oath of Wrath a structure, an organization. They were the Wrathknights.

The Prince was leading the first unit of them through the alleys of the Citadel of Doom. They were going upstairs the hill. A continous stream of blood was flowing around they feet, down towards the Western Gate. They were advancing towards Delanor. Nothing would make them turn around. Nothing but the fullfilling of their oath..
