Beginning now. Realtime reactions to the idiocy to come here.

So what's with the blue tie? Bush trying to undermine the Democrats by stealing their colors?

Bush seems to have worn blue ties more so than red ties. And Harry Reid wears more red ties than blue ties. :hmm:

I just overheard him say something...

"*Indecipherable name* you didn't tell me you were comin'!"

Jesus Christ man, it's the state of the union address. I would hope a large majority of representatives would be there.

"*Indecipherable name* you didn't tell me you were comin'!"

Does security know that?

Oh well, it's about to start. Off to watch.

I wish these things didn't have half an hour of applause time, without fail.

"Ladies and Genetleman, in only one year, the state of the union will be good"

"Unless that #$%#$ Clinton gets elected - he'll screw things up for sure!"

So, I got tired of hearing Bush speak (I made it 3 minutes this time - a new record!) and changed the channel to this thing on bears. I find it a far better use of my time.

But, yeah, enjoy the thread anyway. I'll make my way to the door now, though.

Man, these bears are sooo cute.

Kamchatka is actually pretty beautiful. I might move there...

I thought in 2000 Bush promised to keep a balanced budget. What is this 2012 bs?

I love how he said a balanced budget by 2012. IE, not during my administration. This way I can spend and please as I wish and pass the difficult task of balancing a budget onto someone else.

Well, those predictions are made using the forecasting models at the BEA, CEA, and Fed. So he has to be making some progress or the models won't show any improvement.

The result? He's cut the deficit from $400 billion in 2004 to $250 billion in 2007. Then again, the new stimulus package is exactly $150 billion, which nulifies all the progress we made in the last three years. :mischief:

But yes, the hard part will be reducing the deficit in the next four years, with a weakened Fed and shaky economy. The next guy has his work cut out for him.

Something after 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq?

I'd love to have seen Billy's response to 9/11. I'm sure we would not have been in Iraq, but I think that's the only thing he would have done better than Bush.

Too bad for Bush that one decision, more than any other, has utterly stained his presidency.
