The Pyramid of Ouranos

pyri14dn.png

Ouranos is a major God, or Titan, in the Atlantean pantheon of deities, and moreover, is the major god worshiped by one fo the three war cults whom won the site of the Atlantean citadel from the foul Hesperides; He is a wise God, his element, the sky, and the stars, the constellations, and the clouds; a God of great wisdom, and knowledge, some ponder the cosmos that is his residence for their entire lives, and many a child has looked up at the sky in wonder...

With such an allure as the element of Ouranos, it is little wonder that he attracts much attention; he is viewed as the great father, for in the legends of creation, it is he, and Gaia, the Earth itself, whom form our world -the earth and sky- looked upon fondly, the current line of Atlantean High Kings claims him as their patron deity, and more then a few members of the line have histories as the War Masters of the War Cult of Ouranos.

With this in mind, it requires no stretch fo the imagination to see why They would begin the commissioning of the greatest monument to be built by Atlanteans since the construction of our huge Channels; the construction of a mighty temple, on the citadel of Atlantis itself; though not so large it precludes the building of other monuments, temples, barracks, and palaces; indeed, it is a large building, in bas, but the strive for conserving future land is important; and with that in mind, the rulers of Atlantis choose a different direction to build their great temple to the sky-father to; they choose not to build out- but to build up...

The design chosen was that of 'Step Pyramid"- a building with a relatively large base, built to stretch into the clouds; when taken together, it looks similar to a mountain; that shape is fitting; mountains, stretching into the sky, seem strain to reach the domain of Ouranos; and so too, shall the Pyramid of Ouranos go into the sky. Step upon step; each level smaller in base area then the step under it, it gradually narrows to a relatively small point; it in here that, accessible by steps running up the side of the pyramid, will be found a temple with a golden domed sanctuary.

This sanctuary will have, just outside, an altar, for burning incense in tribute and offering to Ouranos; but it is inside the Gilded domed sanctuary where the real tribue begins; inside the building, one finds a small area for the living of a small priest hood; a common room for several priests, a few storerooms for food, and objects, and an inner shrine with a statue of Ouranos in it; however, the building is two stories tall, dome not included, and on the upper level, one finds wonders- an observatory of the Stars, the constellations; the universe.

The Pyramid of Ouranos is not just a great monument; a pretty pile of stone to show dedication to the God, but is working sanctuary; devoted to worshiping the God, housing high priests for him, and, most importantly, a center for scholarly learning about the realm of Ouranos himself; the Golden domed top of the pyramid houses an observatory, with a clear, and open top, to offer a pinpointed veiw of the stars; tablets are prepared daily for notes the priests might take, and indeed, every night, notes are taken by priests, even before the temple is completed; careful observation of the stars and the planets has led to interesting insights about the world, kept, open for public view, in library-vaults, in a complex under the pyramid (currently, such records are in the palace, after being shown in the public markets for a weeks duration)

The practice has led to, perhaps frivolous pursuits such as astrology, but perhaps the Gods do work in such arcane ways as to dictate certain trends of possibility by the stars; to know for sure, the astrologer-priests of Ouranos will just have to keep on gazing the stars, one day, atop what will be a magnificent pyramid temple dedicated to Ouranos, the god of the skies.

hey, I cant help it if the Mayans saw fit to copy Atlantis ;) :p

besides, somthign more orgional will coem up when the Shrines, temples, pyramids, or what ever the hell they will be of the other Titan-Gods come up; Ouranos just happens to led himself towards a very meso-american astrology based thing.

...not to mention you sort of took the Hellenic name (or did the Greeks take Atlantis'? The world may never know) for Ouranos.

Perhaps you didnt pay attention tot he first story; Atlantis is a mixture of cultures from all over western and southern europe; going to create a unique people, and culture; but this also means that elements of Atlantean culture having somthign in common with areas all over western, and souther europe let me embellish this some; names of the Titan-gods are Graecians, latinate, or Basque, or Celtic in nature (obviouslly, i havent gotten to the latter 3 catagories yet), the spoken language is similer to Latin in speech, but close to english, or another sub-germanic language in structure; over all culture will be an assortment of different ideas, some not present in europe at all historically, such as the pyramid-temples, or the deidcation to astronomy that didnt take off till (circa) the 13th century in europe.

creating a culture from scratch is harder then you may think, and it will be easyier for everyone if I used rather firmmly estbalished concepts (for the most part) while doing so.

So Stats i assume are done.. ok orders time then.

Mori saw the need to bring into being a unique fighting force that could perform certain feats that other more regimental soldiers couldnt.
He saw the effectiveness of lightly armored soldiers in his first battle against the local Warlord, though of course not every enemy he would encounter would be drunk or sleeping he knew the ability to get soldiers into an enemies base without being noticed would prove invaluable during the first days of his empire. They could assasinate problem warlords or town leaders, steal weapons and armor or simply break them, set fire to structures and cause distractions.

And so he brought together the people that he noticed were best fit to this style of warfare to his town and began their training.

Equiped with light leather and in some cases cloth armor they could move swiftly without creating noise, as was vital in their training. They used daggers and occasionally swords depending on the situation. They also were well learnt in the ways of poisoning and sabotage. Ocassionally they were required to work alone though in most cases the more of them around the more havoc they could wreak before the main army arrived.
The were given a simple name best suited to their function, 刃 or Blades.

(Kind of like early Ninjas only in some cases more group orientated. And not specific for Assasination. )

the update is either this friday, or saturday, correct?

*also, could you please send me a reply PM

The Theban-Corinthian alliance threatens to destroy both of us. If we ally, we can annihilate their combined forces and restore supremacy to our respective nations. Will you sign an alliance with Sparta against this bloc?

As futile as our fighting may be...we will not surrender!

Very well, but dont think we trust or like you very much. This is an alliance out of need, not out of want.

We are sorry that you feel that way, and wish to assure our fellow Hellenes that we have no hostile intentions toward you. If we launch military operations, will you support them?

Yes, we would.
