Update 5, 1200bce

Caledonia, after millenias worth of fighting, has finally decided to settle and explore the world around them. Brave pioneers board rickety galleys, bound for a destination unknown. Over half of the galleys sink on the way due to weather or just poor construction, and many men lose thier lives on this expedition. But some do land, and what they find is actually....quite a dissapointment for thier troubles. Its a land of great contrast, as some parts of the island spew great fountains of flame, while other parts are barren and icy. It is typically known as "Land of Ice & Fire" but most call it Iceland for short.
Caledonians are not the only ones there though. It seems Norway long had an journey to the same island, and now has a much more thriving base. Caledonian settlers are somewhat dishearted when they leave thier small tent encampment for the bustling trade port of Reykjavik on the Norwiegen side of the island....
(Caledonia: -7 galleys)

Not all are happy with the Caledonian reforms. One particular critic to the reforms is a group of elders, a very old-fashioned sort who were happy with thier previous power status but now find themselves little more than "the village old guy". With thier extreme knowledge of the nearby Caledonian Druidic religions, they have managed to gain themselves a following by prophesicing apocalypse and ruin will come because of the new policies...

Surprisingly, Ireland has come under the direct control of Eire. A declaration directly from the leader of the clan itself, Conchobhar MacNessa, issued that the island belonged to Eire, but they did not honestly expect it to catipulate so fast. There were 3 main reasons this occurred. Eire has a much stronger military than even the other clans combined could muster, this lead to easy conquest. Also, Eire was actually constructing temples to thier gods, greatly increasing the influence of thier Gaelic religion. The final factor was the discovery of the nations of England & Caledonia. Clan leaders soon held a meeting, where they decided that it would be best to join Eire rather then be gobbled up by the lands from across the sea...

The Viking Wars in Scandinavia heat up, so to speak. It appears there is 2 main factions vying for control of the region. The first is the Danes. Under the guide of the more "civilized" leader, Red Olafsson, the Danes have taken control of Malmo, and boast of the strongest navy in the Baltic. Norway is the more barbaric, led by the reckless and charismatic viking Erik Svonjorn. They are the larger of the two factions, and pose more of a threat on the land, where thier berserkers rip through enemy armies like butter. It appears a direct confrontation is nigh and inevitable.

Winterfellian citizens are slightly less sure of the current leader, who made a grand concession to the Teutons by accepting thier offer and deciding not to expand anymore to the south. Criticized greatly, the King stepped down and accepted the new rule of the Eight High Priests. They soon set to work on establishing thier power, ordering a new temple of grandeur to the 8 Winterfellian Gods.

Winterfell begins to prosper greatly as trade begins with Suomi and the Teutons.

Tartessos strikes first agaisnt Cordoba! Claiming it as "Atlantis' by right" the Tartessian army marched into Cordoban territory with perhaps the strongest army in Europe. Gains were great in the north, but in the south the Tartessians found trouble as the Cordobans had manned a long line of fortresses that protected Cordoba from direct assault. Thier ancestors had done the same agaisnt the Visigoth menace, and now they were doing the same vs the Tartessian one. Several charges by Tartessian generals meant that a few of the fortresses did eventually come under thier control, but with many many casualties.
(Tartessos: -100 spearmen, -250 Fanatics, -10 galleys)(Al-Andulus: -200 spearmen, -100 archers, -10 galleys)

Astile was quit this turn, with some new ideas being brought about by the King. The people were happy, even as the army drained on the economy they had no real reason to be mad. They were safe for now, and their new trading with Galicia even brought them another reason to be content...Iron. The only area of concern is the countrys size, its clear more efficient ways of getting goods from one city to another must be made.

Much the same problem in Salzburg. The nation is one of the largest in the world, without a single real road to show for it. The fact that the land is mainly mountainous does not help either. Much in the way of food and supplies are being stockpiled, supposedly for some sort of campaign, and keen observers say it better succeed or the people could be fed up by that point...

The Italia War ends as Etrusca withdraws. Thier second push was a dismal failure, and left the army in shambles. With no real force left to fight with, the King sued for peace, giving up Sicily and Sardinia whole to the Tahret Caliphate.

The King is dead, long live the King! King Menelaus, in a deep depression since the embarassment in the Peloponnesian War, died shortly after he named his successor to the throne. Pisastratus I is hardly 25 years of age, but was selected due to his years of service in the Spartan Army. The people immediately are drawn to his energetic speeches and brashness, the warm-blooded King is not afraid to speak his mind. He declares the Spartan Race superior to all that dare confront it (which understandbly angers Byzantine and Athenian peoples everywhere...), and to prove his point, went out searching for someone to destroy.

To appease a rabid war sentiment, Pisastratus I engages in war with northern neighbor Rashka. He demands the country to surrender itself, lest it be attacked mercilessly. The proud leader refutes, and declares war himself to pre-empt the aggressive Spartan move. Spartan armies pour out of the galleys to the Albanian province, occupying a few villages and demanding the villagers to supply information. That they do, and the Spartan armies learn valuable intelligence on the surrounding lands...including the location of one Rashkan army moving down from Split. With his knowledge of this, Spartan general Pyros IV divides his army into two sections...the first a small archer detachment meant to decieve the Rashkans, the second the main battalion, formed into a wedge like formation. The Rashkans fell for it, line and sinker, and persued the army down to northern Albania, where the wedged Spartan army under Pyros charged and destroyed the Rashkans. Rashka has been devestated by this attack, and is now trying to regroup near the capital.
(Spartan Federation: -100 spearmen, -150 archers)(Rashka: -200 spearmen, -200 archers)

Byzantium once again is not attacked, which is probably how they prefer things. Trade and the danger of Hittite invasion has kept the people happy with the government, saying they need to keep united so as to prevent a Hittitian takeover. Still, Byzantine generals are flabbergasted to not have been attacked yet (theyve even had time to fortify Ankara). That is, they were surprised until news came from Armenia...

Predicting a Byzantine attack, King Artashas ordered an attack on the Hittite juggernaut. This proved to be a grave mistake, as no help came, and after small initial gains, Hittite chariots ripped through the country. Armenia is now cut in half and near being consumed by Hittitia. It is clear that if Byzantium takes on Hittitia now, it will be on its own.

Carthage, a land centuries ahead of its time. Atleast, that what the people originally thought, with Tanzians and a Somali here and there to combat. But as the jungle are explored and paths are cleared, it is now evident that Carthage has more to tangle with then primitive tribes.

Zulu rise! For now, things are quiet, but once they start expanding who knows....

The Middle East was also quiet, except for a few things. Persia began thier invasion of Babylon with great success, trashing the cultural achievements of Babylon along the way. Cyrus is determined on the total destruction of Babylon heritage to be replaced with the "better" Persian equivalent.
Bactria enters a new age of isolationism, and thusly refuses several Tibetan overtures. Which in of itself is quite odd...

India is quiet, but it wont be for long if Hyderbad continues its current pace.

Now to Taiwan, where Tonsangism is being enforced as the new state religion. Seeing as the old religions sucked, most are happy with this changed. But a few arent and are shipped to the Pescadore Islands, where they endure mediocrity for all eternity! *evil laugh* Tonsangism appears to be popular however, and enlightenment is achieved...which does not really do much, much to the dissapointment of the Taiwanese.
(Taiwan: +1 education)

In exchange for telling the Tibetans about the immortality potion found in Bactria, Shu gets back all of thier stolen women...including the ugly ones.

Shu enacts several new policies, including a heavy war tax and a conscription. This leaves many Shu unhappy, but stimulates both military and economic growth.
(Shu: +1 extra eco THIS TURN ONLY, +100 spearmen +50 archers)

The Shang are stunned, as thier war effort begins to crumble. Fuzhou enters on the side of Shu, attacking a soldier-less south flank, taking a vital road passage and cutting off much supplies to Shanghai. Shu holds thier ground near Laoti, constructing some fortifications, although one was overtaken before it could be completed. Shang soldiers near Laoti, but incur heavy losses and retreat to outside the city.
Then Shu does something rather unpredictable. Rather than a forward attack and plunder of Shang territory, Shu generals were ordered to attack and retreat....but not without severely crippling thier enemy. Marching through the land, the Shu army pillaged anything in sight, telling the Shang people that thier infidel ruler was to blame. With most of thier army now fighting Fuzhou or attacking Laoti, Shang had little to combat this. Entire towns were burned and destroyed, while others stayed intact, only to see thier farms and all food sources pillaged and razed. This was a deliberate attempt to starve the Shang and it worked, with thousands upon thousands dying during the winter as there was no food to be had. There was little spirit by the end of these events, in the hearts of the Shang people, for this unwinnable war. The only hope is Qing, and a lucky roll of the dice. "History would now let it be known," said one Shu general,"the Shu were the first to practice this madness...total war."
(Shu: -200 spearmen, -150 archers)(Fuzhou: -40 spearmen, -30 archers)(Shang: -300 spearmen, -250 archers, -2 economy, -2 culture)

Akita and Sapporo leaders are assasinated by Mori Blade warriors! And thus, this leaves Akita in shambles and Sapporo distancing itself from the previous alliance. Akita is easily occupied, and it now seems a matter of time before Mori takes over the whole island. Its rather dissapointing too...ohwell, for another time period I suppose ;)
(Mori: -100 spearmen, -20 Blades)
