staznesV: Gateway to an Alternate World

Byzantium Announces the Unification of Byzantium and Thebes. Together we will stand strong against the menaces at our borders.

To:Sparta
From:Byzantium
United with Byzantium, Thebes is strong, if you wish to go up against the might of the Byzantium Empire continue to fight, but if you know what is right for you, you would withdraw.

The Kingdom of Thebes-Thermopolye announces that it has joined with the greater Byzantine Empire in an effort to keep thier soverignty.

Any attack on Thebes-Thermopolye is an attack on Byzantium.

We have already asked for the Thebans to end this conflict. However, their intransigence is all that has kept us from peace. King Menelaus hopes that Byzantine influence will help the Thebans change their minds. We will merely keep Corinth and a small base in Boeotia at Naupactus, if a peace is what you want.

To:Sparta
From:Byzantium
And why do you want a base in Boeotia? You will return all lands that you took from Thebes-Thermoplye to us including the city of Cornith or this war will continue. I don't think you want the most powerful nation in the world on your back.

hmmmm... interesting developments. I'll write soem sort of a story chronciling the sheer kick-assness of Atlantis at some point in the near future, hopefully ;)

The Blades had finally been put to use in their area of expertise.
((OOC: Flipping out and Killing everything in sight. Hehe couldnt resist.))
Mori had begun retaliating to the attacks from rival clans, his army had sealed and fortified the ever moving border and bided its time while the elite of the Mori set to working from within the enemy's warlords lands.

The closest clan that had been resisting with an almost fanatic flare were the Hekasi clan. After evaluation the Blades came to the conclusion that he could not be swayed to Moris view on things and needed to be 'dealt' with. His family seemed much the same, save one of the sons who believed in the uniting of his homeland one way or another and that Mori was most likely less of a fool than his father.

The blades approached him and assured him of his place in their plan as long as he co-operated. Taking his chance the son, named Kera Hekasi, allowed them acces to his Fathers home during the night. Fera Hekasi, head of the Hekasi and father of Kera, ate a seperate meal to his family that he prepared himself ruling out poison. However the rest of his family's meals were prepared in the kitchens. The blades took the oppurtunity to 'deal' with the whole family in one strike and poisoned the meals. Kera excused himself from that nights meal pleading illness. There were three blades sent to achieve the goal of dealing with the Hekasi, their leader watched from the shadows as the Hekasi ate there meal completly unsuspecting. Fera's family suddenly began gaging and gasping for air as if they could not breath, Fera leapt to his feet and screamed for the guards but none came. The Blade leader, who as all Blades had no name, walked calmly toward Fera who backed away from him into a corner. The blade stoped infront of him and smiled as he drew the Blades Trademark weapon, The Merasi, a curved and jagged short sword. It entered the body as any other sword would but its speciality came from upon removal the Jagged Edges would tear apart organs and muscles giving its victim a horrendous death. Particularly skilled Blades weilded two at once.
Smiling the Blade drove the Merasi into Fera Hekasi and whispered, "Mori sends his regards," He then swiftly pulled it out of his gut and ripped apart his innards. Fera gasped with no breath to scream he slipped to the floor and died.

The next day Kera assumed command of the Hekasi and joined the ever growing Mori empire. Moris army marched in joined with the Hekasi and helped fortify the new border until the next clan joined them.

One way or another.

OC: Very interesting.

Winterfell Orders
-spend two economy on 600 axe-throwers
-spend one economy on education
-expand southward and fortify the northern borders. Expand to reach the ocean on either side of the penninsula
-send most of the army southward and destroy all opposition southward. Attempt to befriend any barbarians and/or civilizations that seem moderateley advanced. Absorb barbarians and move around the borders of other civilizations.

Battle Plan
situate the battle with spearmen and axe-throwers in the first line, and archers behind them. Pelt the enemy with axes and arrows until they are thirty spears away. Then, have all the spearmen and half the axe throwers charge and have the other half of the axe throwers circle and flank the enemies. The archers are to run to a safe distance and start firing only if the battle seems hopeless enough to destroy our own troops.

Condan the wise, that what they called him. He was in charge of the converting mission in the lands of the Grey. He may be wise but his recruits were like the young tree, green. After so many years, they had begun to mature into towering Oaks, thus the rest of the lands of the Grey should be a simple case of Oration rather than resorting to the sword.

Condan also new that his journey did not finish here, he looked across at what the Caladonians called the Isle of Argentor, it appeared to be an extension of the Lands of the Grey, it was their next destination.

To: Byzantium
From: Sparta

Sparta has no problem with Byzantium getting involved in Achaean affairs. However, we must insist that we keep that land. The blood of Spartans paid for it, and it belongs to us by right of conquest. Byzantium may try to take it back, but it will take many lives on both sides and neither one of us wants that. Possession of Naupactus and Corinth allows Sparta to keep the Gulf of Corinth from belonging to any one nation, and to preserve the balance of power. Naupactus is but one port anyway, and Corinth is in the Peloponnesus. Governing that particular city, far away from Byzantine or Theban lands, would be quite a stretch.

In short, Sparta doesn't want a war, but we will keep those two cities. What are Naupactus and Corinth to the great Byzantines anyway?....

To:Sparta
From:Byzantium
By controlling those cities you will control all access to the Gulf of Cornith. you lie in your statement "Possession of Naupactus and Corinth allows Sparta to keep the Gulf of Corinth from belonging to any one nation", LIES you would control the entire gulf with that land. You wouldn't even share a border with Cornith. Return the city of Cornith to us and we will allow you to keep Naupactus or we will just march our army right down to Cornith to take it back.

To: Byzantium
From: Sparta

What if we give you Naupactus, and we keep Corinth? That would make governing the respective territories easier for both of us, and it would allow you to keep the northern part of the Gulf under your control, and we would have the south. We also propose that we both allow the Athenians right of passage through the Gulf, so they are not blocked by our respective navies.

To:Sparta
From:Byzantium
You don't share a border with either territory. You will return Cornith to us, or we will declare war.

To: Byzantium
From: Sparta

Actually, Corinth lies next to the Spartan Peloponnesus, on the Isthmus of Corinth. Naupactus is separated from us by the Gulf of Corinth. The Byzantine-controlled Boeotia is separated from Corinth by a strip of Athenian-controlled territory. We don't wish a war with you, but if it all rests on geographical correctness...

To:Sparta
From:Byzantium
You don't realize. Byzantium will crush you like a bug. Cornith was never yours and will never be yours. The city will be returned or else.

To: Byzantium
From: Sparta

We know that. Under normal cicumstances things might be different, but Sparta has just fought a long, arduous, and tiring war. Byzantine troops are fresh from the levies and victories over the Ottomans, and will easily be able to hurt Sparta's tired warriors. Fine. Sparta hereby cedes all conquered territory from the previous war to Byzantium, minus the port of Naupactus in Acarnania. There we will retain the promised base, and you can keep Corinth, the place where Spartans died to keep Theban imperialism from overstepping its bounds.

Hmm lucky i dont have to contend with Europeans just yet. Fighting over siingle cities... Still one rival destroys the other and there are less for me it would seem.

Ok peoples, update will be on Friday. Im a little sick right now (missed 2 straight days of school) but I should be better by then.

OC: That's good. Means I will be able to continue over the summer. Yea!! :D

Winterfell Scientific Reform
Winterfell's scientists have formed around one central point as the basis of all of there newfound knowledge: We Must name and categorize all things and there composition(even abstract ideas, like length). There acomplishments so far are listed below.
Measurement System
One Rike is the base unit of measurement(is about 6 inches long).
10 Rikes are equal to a Besh
10 Besh are equal to a Lecas
10 Lecas are equal to a Brakr
The Composition of All Things
We hereby declare that all things are made of 8 different materials:
Air, Water, Salt, Fumes, Fire, Metal, Blood, and Wood.
Riketenal
The new religion of the Winterfellians worships scientists as priests of and the 8 gods of the 8 materials. The highsest of all achievments of the religion is the capability to commune with the gods to perform a conversion of one material to another. This is, however, a very delicate blance. The power of each god is the amount of objects of there material. A conversion requires a balance of another conversion or the world will be destroyed.
The Written Word
To progate Riketenal, the priests of the religion have created and guard the written language of the gods, but all people have access to normal writing capabilities and teachers. They may not, however, touch a sacred text without punishment.

P.S.: What happened to my education. I'm sure I spent some economy there.
