Not necessarily, there is a trade off. A monarchy is more stable, a republic make the people happier but is less stable.

well, a monarchy is stable until the heir comes into question- needless to say, rome offers a wonderful example of that as well ;)

though my own is a combinaiton of republic, and monarchy, so boo-ya! :p

Das - awww, wheres your nice stories of fire and blood, I felt sure you would have some great ones with your dark nation.

Don't worry. Mitsarians had a hard time and all, the Sage dying and so forth (otherwise, I need to get into the mood and find something to write about - just ask NK). Btw, I would appreciate it if somebody tries to stand up to me rather then run away - what the hell should I write about my bloodthirsty civilization if we aren't fighting anybody?

And Metricocles doesn't sound as a Mitsaran name to me.

And AT - Anti Tank (Weaponry). Right? ;) As for Latin, Anno Tempori. Or Avernum Temporum. Not that I have much of an idea as to the meaning of either.

IC:

Story:

Blood.

It pours in our veins and arteries.

It is the greatest treasury of all.

For it we fight.

For Blood and Glory!

---

"What will be your Achievement?" - a question upon a Successor's coming into power.

"Conquest." - Merages' reply

---

Under the sun, a huge army formed, wearing red robes and holding decorated weapons and shields.

The Mitsaran army set out to conquer. Under Drehagan, the process of conquest begun. But it was under Mereges that the final changes of Mitsara into a society bent on conquest happened. From there, on mere inertion, Mitsarans continued marching to conquest, advancing in all directions until they finally were stopped, after many centuries of seemingly-unstoppable advance...

---

- Conquest!
- Conquest!
- Conquest!

- Conquest we:
- Desire.
- Fight for.
- Achieve.

- Blessed be the Conquerors, for they:
- March in the Name of Aramon.
- March in the Name of the Sage.
- March for the Cause of Greatness.

- Let there be Conquest!
- Blood!
- War!
- Achievement!

- Let our enemies:
- Fear.
- Shiver.
- Surrender.
- Die.

- Conquest!
- Conquest!
- Conquest!

---

Mereges looked at his army. From his childhood, he was a Priest of Aramon, and became a Priest-General during the Kalabean War. He lived through war. War and conquest.

"From here, we begin the conquest. Conquest in the Name of the Sage! Conquest will be our Greatness! Conquest will be our Achievement!"

"Conquest! Conquest! Conquest!"
- The warriors chanted.

---

A blood-red mist descended upon the world, shrouding all, and from it emerged the Conquerors. The Mitsarians.

MITSARA HAS CONQUERED, IS CONQUERING AND WILL CONQUER.

Orders:
- Reequip all our troops with copper weapons.
- Try and train our eliphants for war.
- Search for horses.
- Introduce bows and arrows (technically, we already have them, but now, we will use them as weapons of war as well).
- Continue our building projects (why isn't my religion culture growing?).
- Continue to set up our "Civilization of Conquest".
- Use our militaristic culture and stuff to add another thousand men to our army. 50 go to the Guards, 450 go to the "warriors", 500 go to the archers.
- Put up the government bonuses on the front page again, like in the previous NES.
- Expand heavily in all directions, with our troops divided fairly everywhere, save for the Guards who will be, along with Mereges, assisting the invasion of the West. Allow people to convert to our faith. Those who convert when we ask them to do so peacefully will become fully-fledged Mistarians. Those who convert when we apply force will be promised the same as the others, but will actually become slaves who will build Blood Temples and Blood Altars, and be sacrificed time to time. Make sure that the others get the message. All those who resist to the last will be sacrificed in a very gruesome way. Lands where the majority does not convert will be utterly depopulated, and nobody will be allowed to settle there for a hundred years of "purification". In battle, use our superior numbers and morale to overwhelm the enemy, break his ranks, and slaughter them (enslaving those who surrender). If a battle is not going well, our troops are never to fall back, rather, they are to fight on with the goal of killing as many enemies as possible.
- Construct cities in newly-conquered lands. Make sure that the "urban" population consists of those true to our faith.

P.S. GIANT CHICKENS?! Espirito, I know that bashing Amen's nations is a virtue, but bloody hell, this is slightly overboard... ;) I hope you won't be able to plant cannons on them, at least.
It's all up to you, Espirito.

Some people never seem to learn...

I hope its ostriches, but I could be wrong.

Moas is my bet- they were 10 feet tall- big enough to support a man- and apperntlly, dumb enough in real life to not fear humans- perfect combination to make giant cjicken riders.

Yah. But they couldn't support man; too lightly built.

Ever heard of the elephant bird of Madagascar? 10 feet tall, heaviest built. Have on about that height, and a little slower and bulkier, and you ahve yourself a great domesticate. Those omlettes would've been enough to feed a family. :p

I thought those were the moas, those madagascar ones- well, the description still fits, i just guess the name dosent

hmm, upon though, perhaps they're dodos :D

Might be interesting. Big dodos? Puts me in the mind of a gigantic rubber duck, amybe that's it.

DIPLO:

To Barbarian Tribes
From Alesia

Hail, my brethren of the land,of the forest, of the plain, of the river! Of the wolf and of the bear! I ask you, would you like to join this great league of Alesia, to merge and make both our peoples stronger?

And if not, would you like a treaty of non-agression? My army may be marching close to your territory soon, but it is NOT an act of agression! Do not take it that way!

i liek this debate about the giant chickens, so I wont tell you what I had in mind but since i havent heard of moas and elephant birds, ill go look them up right now to see which i prefer :) i can tell you that they are NOT dodos.

das, explore a bit and ill give you a few nice NPCs to fight.

Xen, the rebelling is simply because they are so far away from your capital that they simply feel its better to be self governed, nothing to say that the people dont like you. And did you not see the picture of the animal I included?

amen, i havent really STARTED yet :) quater of your population is nothing :)

NK. Yes a swamp. I liked that creation, I was feeling a bit annoyed when i decided to write that so sorry but it adds some flavour. Its a very dangerous swamp.

Diplomacy:

To: Tourijan

What can you offer us? We live in peace and see that you live for war, we live simple and good lives while you delight in tearing up the earth and murdering her children.

From: Barbarian Tribes
To: Alesia

As to joining you, what do you offer us? We do not kill other men unless they first ride against us, therefore we accept your offer to maintain good relations.

Nice. I firmly claim they must be based on ostriches.

It's fine. :twitch: I just don't like swamps, since my whole area where I live is like one... :twitch:

OOC: Whoa whoa whoa... Did they get my religion already or something?

From: Tourijan
To: Kerch

We do not live for war, war is sadly necessary to spread the word of the light, though, and also to expand our nation, which is only necessary in light of cramped living spaces.

Now, what can we do for you? We offer you civilization. While this might seem corrupt and far too sensual, if this puts you off, fear not. There are other benefits to civilization. We are sure that you have suffered at least some raids from neighboring tribes, like that of Kaffa nearby. Now these raids can be devastating and damaging to a small nation, however, a large one, with a swift and efficient military force can turn away these minor raids and bring safety and peace much faster than a larger army.

We, like you, love the earth and it's denizens, and thus our nation is much alike yours in philosophy. We are greatful and glad to whichever great spirits sent us here, and we are eternally seeking perfection. Our long arduous path to perfection is not material, it is spiritual, and we must aid as many people as possible.

This brings us back to you. With the wonders of civilization, spiritual perfection is easier to attain; the hard work that dominates the life of your people is not nearly so harsh in a civilization, and thus with other, earthly matters turned away we can focus inward, unto ourselves in search of what corrupts us. And then we can remove that corruption, and we are purer as a people.

While we do open up the earth for it's resources, this can be justified. First, you must think scale. The earth is itself so tremendously huge, that to dig a small pit such as that we do to extract elements from it is nothing more to it than to us will be a scratch. We also scout ahead, and know well which rocks are located where, so damage to the earth is minimized.

Also, the changing of rocks into a metal is something much less destructive then one might imagine. The rocks are not destroyed, merely transformed, and the two halves, rock and mineral, that come out of it are purer than the whole was. We are purifying the sections of the earth that we do harm, and we harm very little.

Please, we hate destroying any spirits, and we do not want to shed more needless blood. Please join us, for the sake of both us and you.

@Esp

Good god, more shall die?!

Story:

"The island was inhabited by other humans! But compared to the Alliance, they were primitive and weak, not even united under a single government! The Lordchief brought forth a proposal to the Tribal Council of a three-stage campaign to conquer these newly-discovered neighbors. The first stage would begin with the sending of traders, barterers, and merchants into the individual primitive villages and begin to trade with them, making them dependant on Leskean items. The second stage would involve sending Pul missionaries into the villages to begin converting the primitives to the Truth of Pul. If the tribes had not admitted themselves to the Alliance by then, the military -- which was to be expanded in its ranks -- would launch a devastating assault against the tribes. All of these were to be executed slowly, in such a way that the opposing tribal leaders would not notice until it was too late. It was a daring, brilliant plan and was immediately accepted by the council."

--Traditional Leskean Oral History,
"Conquest of the Liuk Tribes"

"The tribes to the east of Leskean territory had been named by the people simply Liuk, or "Eastern", though this was likely not what the tribes referred to themselves as. A fairly complex plan for its time was concocted that involved literally making the Liuk Tribes dependant on Leskea for its luxuries, tools, and religion. The idea was to make the Liuk want to join the Alliance to gain more civilization. If they refused this, the expanding Leskean forces would invade. If they rejected the traders or missionaries violently, then the army would invade as well. Either way, the early Leskeans were determined to capture their neighboring land!"

--History of Lesk Island, Page 45,
"The Early Days of Leskean Civilization"

Orders:

1) Follow expansion orders on the map using 50 Warriors. Train 50 more Warriors and begin the training of 50 of a specialized rank of soldier -- the Axeman, a soldier trained specifically in wielding axe-weaponry. Also train 100 Slingers as support troops. 100 Warriors are to patrol Terykghua as police of sorts, catching common criminals and such.

2) These pink berries, named "Oiresh" [Oi mean Pink, Resh means Poison], are very intriguing. Begin to experiment with the "potion" that the woman made from the Oiresh. For example, mix it with other known juices and liquids, and see what can be made with them. Testers of combination potions are to be willing volunteers. If anything else, the berries may have a military application...

3) Execute Stages 1 and 2 of the plan for tribal takeover mentioned in the story. Stage 1 consists of beginning a trade dependency on the tribes. Stage 2 consists of a religious conversion attempt. Stage 3 [military invasion] will automatically be executed if either Stage 1 or Stage 2 results in violent reprisal from the tribes. If Stage 1 and 2 continue peacefully, then Stage 3 will begin next turn.

4) Construct a small outpost -- Telraghua [Border Fortress] -- on the border between Leskean land and the Eastern tribes. Trade and missionary efforts will be channeled through here. It is to be placed in a good, strategic spot that leads into the tribal territory but is also fairly defensible.

5) Begin attempting to tame some of these little squirrel-like, rat-fighter creatures. The tentative name for them as yet is, "Kuirahk" [Kiu mean Rat, Rahk means Fighter], but will likely change as they get integrated into society. One way that might help get some specimens drawn into Leskean captivity would be to draw them in with berries, nuts, and anything else they eat and make them dependant on humans for the bulk of their food...

6) Finally, begin a mandatory educatory program for the more upper-class citizens, who generally do not have to work as much as the middle [what little is there] and lower classes.
