stgnNESI: Colonization 2150

Will there be space units in the far away future? And I understand you will add additional maps for the contact and colonization eras, right?

Anyway, I really like this NES - good work so far. So when is the next update (and the reply on my diplo - did they agree to the plan?)?

@das: There'll be space units, yes, though I don't really think I'll make a "space map". Though, I might make a map to build things in orbit, as well, so as to represent orbital colonies.

Thank you, by the way. Next update's tonight at about 5 or 6 PM Central US time, regardless of whether I have everyone's orders. And as for the diplo...

To: First Island Nation
From: Arashia

Agreed. Your plan makes much sense. We'll execute immediately. A few of our Catapulteers will go along with you for support.

@all: Next turn, governments may be changed. Also, in about three or four turns, nations will begin hitting the Reconstruction Era. Once all Player Nations are in the next era, time will go by two years instead of five.

You didn't build any of these yet, you need to train them just like normal soldiers.

Orders:

Expand in all directions.

Expand Economy (due to other Expansions)

Diplo:

To Langul Empire:

We indeed wish peace and security on the whole world. Perhaps we shall begin to work together to reach Earth again. In respect to this goal, we ask you not to advance more than 100 miles from the river nearest us.

Individual Nation News

War going great for Arashia-FIN Alliance

In a bold and unexpected move, FIN forces moved forwards at the main stronghold of the fallcrazies who had been so harshly threatening the nation of Arashia. In the meantime, Arashian forces, filled with hope for the first time in years, launched multiple assaults on minor fallcrazy encampments, which fell quite quickly. And in a brilliant move, an Arashian general snuck behind enemy lines and, with a small number of troops armed with copper weaponry, took a good amount of undefended land from the fallcrazies.

Leadership of the enemy is almost nonexistent, but the brains [if they could even be called that] of the war hammer that nearly pounded Arashia into oblivion still resides within the main stronghold. Talk of cannon-fire bombarding troops who approached the main city of the fallcrazies has reached the ears of both Arashian and FIN leaders. If the fallcrazies were making gunpowder weapons somehow…the war was about to get much, much uglier.

New Nation rises on the Northwestern Continent

On a small island in the large eastern lake on the northwestern continent [boy, these things need some names], the Protectors arise. People fled to the island to escape aggressive predators which existed in the pink-leaf forests that existed around the lake. At long last, the people there have banded together under one ruler and have begun to seek to dominate the world as best they can. They have a lower population than the other empires, but are an amalgam of people who have developed multiple technological re-breakthroughs.

First Island Nation searches for Gunpowder, finds cure for various skin cancers!

FIN, in its first attempts to recover the art of gunpowder making, unwittingly stumbled upon a cure for most kinds of skin cancer. A common native mineral not found on Earth was the main ingredient – the brittle mineral, when crushed and added into a solvent of various chemicals, resulted in a mushy, gel-like material that, when rubbed into the skin, made it seemingly healthier. A rouge experiment was performed on a citizen with a form of skin cancer that would, without treatment, kill him – when the gel-like substance was applied once a day for several weeks, the production of cells slowed until a normal growth rate. With this development, deaths would be fewer in not just the present, but the future. And if contact with Earth was ever made again, they’d be VERY interested in the product.

As for gunpowder…well, they’re getting there.

Fallcrazies shown no mercy by the interim government of The Greylord’s Land

With the leader of The Greylord’s Land departing to conduct some experiments, the people left in charge dealt a heavy blow to the fallcrazies who had been hitting them hard. After civilians were evacuated from the area, troops poured into the land controlled by the animal-like beasts. The leaders were quickly found and done away with, and what few remain are scattered and cannibalizing each other.

What remains will likely be dealt with quickly.

World News and Events:

The strange disturbance causing the auroras continues.

Several nations begin to advance beyond mere hierarchies. The Star Legionaries fashion themselves a Military Hierarchy, their entire social system based around the military. The Langul Empire has altered its governmental system to an Imperial State, focusing on controlling vast amounts of land and people, as well as a large military.

NPC Diplomacy:

To: First Island Nation
From: Arashia

We have almost won! But this news of cannon-fire disturbs us…they seem to be animals, yet they are advancing and growing into settlements and cities with advanced weapons. What could be going on with them?

To: Helantia
From: Langul Empire

Agreed, then, but only if you agree not to expand within two hundred miles of said river.

Story (from "Report on Fallcrazies"):

I am Jonathan Cross of the Scientific Restoration Organisation (SRO), of the Biopsychological subunit. This is the report on the Homo Insaniteus (we will have to check spelling if we manage to salvage any latin dictionaries from the landing site, but I am sure it is the right one), better known as the "Fallcrazies".

First of all - the simple facts, according to the popular theory. These were ordinary humans that, due to the stress of the landing, have reverted to insane animal-like state, resembling the Neanderthals. They are suspected to be spread out throughout all or most of the land surface of Aphrodite. They can work in groups and have crude settlements, as well as demi-sentient leaders who seem to have developed some sort of a religion or a cult. They are very hostile to all of the Homo Sapiens.

Let us take a look on the history of our encounters with them. Upon landing, the First Island Nation and Arishna citizens DID NOT notice them. We noticed them when exploring, and located them in the jungle they ferociously defended. At that point, we decided they were completely on the animal mind level. During the First War, also known as the Jungle War, we encountered a crude fortification, and soon aftewards, their leaders. It was certain, we thought, that they could perform simple tasks when guided by their leaders. And here we see the first flaw in the popular theory. If we agree that leaders CAN indeed design something like the jungle fortifications, why can they not come up with more advanced ideas - just like we did? But let us leave that at open. Later we encountered them on the Second Island, to the west, and on the Newland landmass, to the southeast. And finally, in Arishna territory, beginning the Arishna Liberation War against a larger group of fallcrazies. At that point, they also had a more advanced settlement and a stronghold. Recently, rumors of them having cannons came in. Nothing like that was sighted amongst the rest.

Let me begin now on what I understand now. They did not revert to animal state. They became a different human subspecies with a different mindset, perhaps to some extent like that of predatory mammals, to some extent of neanderthals, and finally - to that of the ants - they do work together, when with leaders. This is not to say that they are not a threat - they are an even bigger threat if that is so. And their technology and mindset is evolving, well, that of the leaders is. They did not have much at first, I suppose. Later, they begun buildign crude settlements and fortifications. Then - advanced settlement. Now - gunpowder. They will continue to evolve, to fight with us - and we will do the same. That is it.

(What is following afterwards was edited out and the author was sent to psychotherapy.)

But there are some other facts, a working theory which could be disapproved only with more information - which we seem to gather about them as we fight. Did they truelly change due to the stress of landing? Or was it something else? Here are some more facts - the strange disturbance on the third moon of Aphrodite. The strange disturbances that take place even now. And the leaders saying of a greater force. Those of you with an overly rational mindset are recommended not to read the following.

What did we seek in space? What did we always think is somewhere... out there? Other sentient lifeforms. We also always thought that at least some of them will try to wipe us out or to enslave us. Why did we think they would not be more sophisticated in that? Here is my final conclusion. All of the disturbances were caused by alien technology, which altered and then contacted the fallcrazies as they are known. They told them to destroy us, they felt us, those whom they didn't reach, to be a threat, if not militarilly then socially. They assist the fallcrazies, they help them recover our lost knowledge step by step. They are our enemies, and they are very close.

From: First Island Nation
To: Arishna

It would seem that they are gaining knowledge. But worry not - even if these rumors are true, we will still soon develop gunpowder on our own. And besides, they are underorganized. We should launch a final assault of their main fortress. Even if they have gunpowder, we can risk some casualties to prevent them reaching something even more advanced. Agreed?

P.S. Can we use your catapult design for our new ship type?

Orders:

- Continue wonder (3/4)
- Grow army (can I grow army as horseant cavalry?)
- Grow education.
- Continue working on gunpowder. And tell my people to SPEED IT UP!
- 30 soldiers to continue expanding over the First Island.
- 30 soldiers on Newland to attack the fallcrazy settlement there.
- Islander Militia to advance to the new frontline.
- 100 (?) soldiers on Arishna to launch one final assault on the fallcrazy stronghold, gunpowder or not gunpowder. If the body toll is over 20, retreat.

IF THE ARISHNA AGREE ABOUT THE CATAPULTS AND IF IT'S NOT TOO BIG A LEAP FROM RAFTS

- Create new Sea UU - Catapult Trireme (the first real ship in tis world, very strong but rather slow and tends to be inaccurate especially when firing on moving targets.)
- Also try to create ordinary galleys or triremes to replace the rafts.

New territory and 4 new camps
(you havent updated front page :))

Story:
Colonization was going great. New territory had been claimed to make room for all the Star Pioneers. The Star Pioneers were now more a clan than a simple group. Everyone in the Star Pioneers had a unique feeling of being part of something which they never thought they would feel again after the crash. So far there hadn´t even been reports of any other human living on the main island or on any of the other small islands surrounding the main Island.
One day Rando Kvistblad gathered his people to a meeting. Every single one of the more than 10,000 persons was there. The topic of the meeting was the naming of the main island. Afer several hours of hectic debate the gathered people decided on the name
"New Hope"(got you a name there nexus :)). After the meeting there was a party that went on for 3 whole days and 2 nights.

orders:
-train 50 soldiers
-continue great project
-send a total of 120 soldiers and rowboats to found the 4 new camps on the map and claim the territory in red
-continue farming and planting berrybushes
-name the main island "New Hope"

Slighlty rushed for orders.
Story: Raynold rushes back to the settlement, discovers how the goverment has been despotical in his absence, rushes to the remains of the fallcrazy camp searching through their remains for something he can't quite explain. He dismisses the interim goverment, gets the soldiers salvaging, and recruits three hundred people to help him start the new project: Wood Cultivation. Fast-growing trees that will provide much needed fuel for the different industries.

Begin Project: Wood Cultivation (+4 economy)
Expand between those two "arms" of territory
Increase education.

SOVIETIKA

The people were moving down the river, as they went on, they discovered better ways to domesticate the niglys, it was discovered that if classical music was played, they would lay more eggs than usual, it seemed to have some sort of calming effect.
the nigly trade had boomed, sovietikas economy was very very very good, but the knowledge was not as high as wanted, it was time to continue development and education, the emerald institute- a new branch of the red academy was to be built, this was designed to research into the many minerals found in the area.
also small expeditions were sent to look out for any new creatures and plants.

orders:
grow education
start wonder : The Emerald Institute (2 education, 1 culture)
look for more info on the native minerals and possilbe uses for them.
Expand along the rivers and fertile land.

Like I have said in the other NES's, I am about to leave on a trip through Wednesday of Next week, or so. Could you treat me as a temporary NPC, GN, just expanding generally, destroying barbarian tribes, continueing my wonder, and expanding the economy?
