Scientific Institute to be Built!

The Sumerian government has recently announced it's plans to fund a Scientific Institute located within Bagdad. Our modern city they say is going to pull Sumer into the future and help surpass the other world powers. The new Scientific Institute is welcome news as thousands of jobs for the construction has eben created. The Institute is planned to open sometime next fall and will have several dormatories for local inventers, students, and scientists doing research. There will also be several main buildings and offices for scientists as well as classes as the Scientific Institute will double as a small university. News of the Institute has come with great applause and few in the community see a problem with it.

Sinhala-Sumer Defense Pact Signed!

Recent talks between Sumeria and the nation of Sinhala has further icnreased the bond between our two nations. After recent urgings by Sinhala, Sumer has agreed to a partial defense treaty with Sinhala in the hopes to protect the region and provide stability and peace to the area. Sinhala has long been a friend and somethimes ally of Sumer, but there have been several opiniopns on the amtter. To see some of these please go to the letters section of the newspaper.

Dear Bagdad Bugal, I have recent trouble understanding why Sumer requires a defense pact with Sinhala, which was recently involved in the World War. They have dshown agressive stances to our Arabian brothers and they do not seem like the kind of freinds I would want

-Habib Marwab

Dear Editor, this defense pact is good news to hear. Sumer needs friends in this world, not enemies. Our long friendship with Sinhala is now maturing and I hope that our two nations will firther the bond between them. The world is a dsangerous place, and not even Sumer can survive it alone.
-Shlomo Rosen

Dear Editor, I'm not sure what to think of the recent treaty between Sinhala and Sumer. The fact that it's only partial is very important. We only will have to help, or gain help from Sinhala in certain situations. Certainly this can not mean we are fully entagled with them? But this also means they are not fully entangled with us, which means they may refuse to help us. I do not want to see Sumer going off to face foreign wars, but I also don't want to see Sumeria becoming forgotten by her allies do to a loophole.

Signage of Formal Pact With Sumeria a Historic Step

KARACHI, 23 July -- A limited defense pact with Sumeria has been signed today, as Chancellor Tharupium was met by King Abbas II in the border city of Karachi earlier this week.

Sumer, Sinhala's largest neighbor, has long been an important strategic ally of the Republic.

The pact provides that Sinhala and Sumeria will aid eachother should they face invasion by a foreign power, but a stipulation stating that enticing or goading a foreign power in to war would not be protected under the pact has some in Anuradhapura concerned that the Sumerians will seek an out should Sinhala come under attack.

Formal Entry to Asian Alliance Not Blocked by Vietnam

JAKARTA, August 18 -- Sinhala has gained necessary votes in order to proceed with admission into the Asian Alliance, as the Alliance's 4th Summit in Jakarta approved the Sinhalese bid this Wednesday, despite waning opposition from Vietnam.

While it is unfortunate that Vietnam has opted to remove itself from this Alliance, it should not be seen as this alliance's undoing, and we encourage all parties to work towards a more unified Asia, for it is only through coöperation that we can remain strong.

Update Two: 1835 A.D.

An alliance is signed between the old partners of Europe, the British and the French. This does not bode well for Egypt, who cuts off all aid to France. The result is a nation on the brink of starvation with massive unemployment. Many people have become seriously discouraged from working (- economy) and have even decided to move away from France to seek fortunes in Britain, Spain, or the Teutonic Order.

The Egyptians also announce the formation of the Wilken Doctrine, outlining Egypt’s plans for a colony-free African continent.

The Pacificans finally get their act together and march into the uprising Mongolian province. But, unlike what they thought, this is not a war between nation-states. This is a war between homes, between city streets and poverty-stricken shantytowns. Urban warfare makes its first ugly appearance in the urban slums of Mongolia, where thousands of Pacificans die trying to pacify the people. Sinhalese peacekeeping forces arrive later, but are unable as well to easily pacify the natives. Eventually they are able to get a grip on the area, but it still remains extremely dangerous and vulnerable, requiring an extra heavy military occupation. (-4,000 Pacificans, -400 Sinhalese).

A wave of terrorism hits the globe. The hardest hit, the British, lead the investigation into the suspected terrorists. Acts including bombs hidden within trains, carts, and crowded marketplaces, as well as factories, has claimed the lives of nearly four hundred British, three hundred and thirty Pacificans, and just under three hundred Ozeanians. The British have already narrowed down the culprits, which include the Dark Shroud (Kazakh terrorists from Sumer), al-Kai (a Saharan terrorist group), God’s Justice (an Italian terrorist organization), Madagascar urban terrorists, and various Mexican petty terrorist groups.

In a surprise event, probably pressured by Congress, the Ozeanian President has withdrawn all troops from New Sioux, returning either to Mexico or back to the homeland. However, as the Sioux begin to reoccupy their industrial cities, they realize the factories have all been destroyed, as well as the docks and harbors, once the largest on the American west coast. The only industry in Sioux is now gone, and this has hurt the Sioux economy (- economy) and seriously jeopardizes their industrial capacity. Denmark remains in control of the Victoria Island.

A proposition within the Quebec colonial congress was quickly defeated which called for the declaration of secession to be sent to the Russian Republic. Many cry out in the province that this is not a valid representation of the people. In other Russian news, the border with the Pacificans have been closed due to the Mongolian rebellion, cutting many off from their jobs and relatives. Also, the Teutonic Order gets suspicious as a Russian army moves within 25 miles of the border.

Railroads, already vividly present in the USSA, undergo drastic expansion to accommodate quicker transportation methods from the plains to the rebuilding coastal cities of Boston, Baltimore, and Washington. (+ economy).

The Sinhalese create a massive Public Works Bureau in Caluula, Battahira, which provides jobs and services to thousands of Battahiran peoples. This has reaffirmed Battahira’s confidence in the Sinhalese as their mother nation (+confidence in both) (+economy Battahira).

FROM: The United Kingdom of Great Britain

The world is quickly changing. The continents of the world are quick to organize themselves together, and as a result - grow stronger. Europe must not lag behind if she is to reclaim her past glories. Therefore, the United Kingdom of Great Britain proposes the formation of a European Economic Commonwealth - a large trade zone between all of our nations, created in order to fuel our growth and European economic growth as a whole.

Let not Europe become a mere historical footnote as the world rapidly outpaces us.

We are sorry to say we cannot set up a trade route at this time, as we right now do not have the resources to do so. In the near future we will set up a trade route though. We wish to enquire about your interest in purchasing the southern half of Baffin Island from our nation. It has been increasingly impractical for us to manage this territory in terms of logistics and we see you benefitting from this deal as it is part of an important passageway into the Atlantic, which could have trade and even naval advantages for your nation. Our asking price is one economy level.

1st Anniversary of Parliament held in Westminister
Britons express growing confidence in their new government

LONDON, January 20th - Parliament, established by His Majesty William IV last year as a new way of representational governance, initially faced some opposition from the more conservative elements of society. However, in a year the situation as changed dramatically, with the King using Parliament to govern as he focuses on the ceremonial and religious responsibilities of the throne. This has forced Parliament upon the British people, and we have, in short time, come to adore our government, a government in which we are allowed to speak for ourselves. The first prime minister, the appointed Duke of Wellington, Sir Arthur Wellesley, opened this year's Parliamentry anniversary - a large social gathering - to cheering crowds. A formal ball was held in Buckingham Palace for MPs, while citizens enjoyed a day off from work and local festivities.

The Prime Minister was quoted in saying "A great landmark has been passed, one which marks the freedom and ascendency of the British people as a whole."

Commons Ratifies Italian Independence Bill Amidst Growing Disatisfaction
The Republic of Italy formed not in Rome, but instead in Westminister

LONDON, January 20th - The House of Commons, led by Prime Minister Sir Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, amidst growing disatisfaction in the government stewing over recent terrorist strikes carried out by Italian cells, and over government inaction, finaly passed a bill which would grant independence to the whole of the peninsula. The bill, which has been debated for several months within the commons (one of the longest continued sessions of debate, a total of 7 months), as today unanimously passed and is being heralded as a historic achievement. The bill's major three points stress for the following -

I. The formation of a free Republic of Italy, governed by a balance of three powers - the executive, judicial, and legislative, the latter being a british style bicameral legislature with an upper and lower house, with all represenatives and elected officials being directly elected by the people, without proportional representation.

II. The continuation of Italian-British relations, to be maintained by Italian entrance into the proposed European Economic Community, and by a strong defensive alliance between Britain, France, and Italy, to ensure the new republic's safety.

III. Free trade and economic partnership between Italy and Britain, to spurn the growth of both economies, especially the Italian economy. Economic partnership includes a package of debt cancelation and the Italian adoption of the british pound, to be renamed the Commonwealth pound.

Prime Minister calls for greater European Integration
Economic Commonwealth proposed to the leaders of the continent

LONDON, January 19th - The Prime Minister, with the support of the majority Conservative party, has called upon the leaders of Europe to participate and help in what he called "great project of our time" - that project being European integration. To do this he has requested from the leaders of Spain, Scandanavia, the Tuetonic Order, Greece, and France the formation of a European Economic Commonwealth, essentially a large trade zone between said nations. He also called for a greater unified participation in international affairs, and his statement "Let not Europe become a historical footnote" has earned him much support in his cause.

Prime Minister shows European Generosity
Aid Pledged to France

In seeing millions left destitute due to international negligence, Prime Minister Wellesley called for all nations of Europe to help France in her plight. The Prime Minister called it 'irresponsible' and perhaps 'diabolical' that the members of the Wilken Yu government would allow people to starve over a small diplomatic quarrel. He has called for the nations of the world to aid a nation in destitution, and to bury the hatchet of the past.

"The war is over. It is time for the world to act responsibly, and to aid those most in need."

Strong Measures Adopted Against Terrorism
New laws pass unanimously in Parliament

LONDON, January 19th - With terrorist strikes claiming 200 lives total in Britain, strong measures were introduced last week into the House of Commons, measures which passed without opposition other than that started by radical communists which have been largely marginalized for their ridiculousness. The measures include but are not limited to an increase a strong in police numbers, tighter immigration controls, increased jurisdiction on more matters of government handed over to Parilament and Downing Street, and finally the increase of the military budget. So far reaction amongst the populace is in favor of these new bills.

Industrialisation made into Top Priority
Railroads and factories continue to appear and grow throughout Britain

LONDON, January 18th - The Government, in a new industrialisation programme, has contracted out the construction of new railines extending throughout all of the British Isles. The Government has also contracted out new factory sites along the Thames and the coast, to fuel Britain's growing economy. These happenings are part of a larger economic and industrialisation policy started by the Tory government, a policy which seeks to further increase Britain's industrial steam ahead the world, aswell as increasing prosperity for both the nation and the common man.

British Shipyards put into high gear
Naval expansion programme announced by the Prime Minister

PORTSMOUTH, January 18th - The Prime Minister announced two days ago in the bustling shipyards of Portsmouth the formation of a new naval expansion programme. The lists of ships required by the government consisted majorly of ironclads, with old wooden ships being slowly fazed out in favour of the new vessels. The government seems keen to keep Britain's naval lead over the other world power as a way to ensure its protection and also its economic prosperity, as more ships means stronger trade routes. This announcement shortly followed the government's announcement of a larger industrialization programme.

Polls Show Strong Tory Lead
Government popularity rebounds as action is taken throughout all of Britain

LONDON, January 20th - Throughout all of Britain, the Tory Government's popularity has rebounded dramatically as approval ratings soar in light of recent developments and policies undertaken. Meanwhile, the opposition Whigs continue to sink further and further into an abyss of unpopularity. Official poll numbers are as follows -

Tory Approval Rating - 70%
Whig Approval Rating - 20%
Government Approval Rating - 67%

Communists and other fringe parties continue in their relative isolation and unpopularity in mainstream British politics.

Can you not see that millions are close to starvion in France? Do not let past tensions destroy the lives of the innocents. We ask that the world show its generosity in these dark times and aid in whatever way it can the feeding of the French people. Britain sincerely hopes that it shall not be the only nation to stand up for the starving women and children of paris, women and children which starve as a direct result of the harsh terms the world has imposed on a broken nation.

To France

Even though Mexico isn't a European country, we would still like to send support to the French. We spit on the Egyptians, for they jepordize millions of lives for petty quarrels. Mexico will send aid as soon as possible.

I thought it only fair to mention to insane panda that selling of his Asian colonies, fought hard for where hundreds of thousands of British soldiers died just less then a decade ago, can spark heated tension within the nation. Plus, it provide cheap raw resources to the British crown.

And I think naervod already knows the consequences and benefits of selling his colonies.
