Update done hastily. I wanted to finish before class. I might add/tweak when I get back.
Update Three: 1836 A.D.
The British create the Republic of Italy as a beacon of democracy in Europe. Although the Italians have been restricted to the British Commonwealth currency, the two nations are as different and separated as the next two.
Chinese concentration on agricultural production has greatly exceeded even Spain’s grain production, and has taken the lead as the largest producer of wheat. Surplus from trade has helped to increase the Chinese economy (+economy).
Unrest continues in the Mongolian province of Pacifica, taking the lives of more soldiers, both the occupying Pacificans and the peacekeeping Sinhalese (who just increased their occupation numbers to 75,000) (-500 Sinhalese, -1,000 Pacificans).
The French hold the required Referendum in Nordterre, with options on the ballot for unity with Scandinavia, unity with Denmark, continued unity with France, and independence all by itself. Nearly 94% of all citizens within voting age cast a ballot in the election. Here are the results:
Unity with Scandinavia: 23%
Unity with Denmark: 10%
Unity with France: 29%
Complete Independence: 38%
Since neither party gained a complete majority, the territory will remain the statue quo until another referendum can be held.
France continues to try and rebuild its massive industrial capacity from years before the war, but the lack of capital and willpower is taking its toll, and the French economy continues to lag behind its rivals in Europe and Africa. Many firms are having a hard time starting up because of rival corporations from other European countries gaining access to French markets easier due to the EEC. (-economy). The continued lagging of the French economy has had an impact on her once magnificent army (- training for navy and army).
Mexico begins construction of her own railroad system to add to the poor-quality one installed by the French a decade earlier. This has helped grow industry as it does deliver valuable raw resources from southern and central Mexico to industries on the Caribbean coast. Also, a new currency has been introduced that breaks Mexico’s tradition of the French Franc. The new Mexican peso, adopted when the Spanish colony of Yucatan (whose economic output, unfortunately, equaled almost half of Mexico’s) was incorporated as a Mexican province, is rather weak now, but shows signs of strengthening as Mexico’s economy grows.
Russia increases its occupation of Quebec from 25,000 to 100,000 in the midst of secessionist debates in the Quebecois colonial government. This has sent chills down many Quebecois spines as some believe a war is brewing.
Economic output from the African Union and South American Empire has tripled as they stop pressing for industrialization and concentrate on agriculture, a program led by China, now the world’s top grain producer.
ACE and EEC have created benefits in their member nations as trade grows (+ economy to all members except AU and France).
Socialist movements are strengthening in Panama and New Canada, but mostly in Quebec where millions are now apart of the Quebecois Socialist Party.
Unrest is beginning to stir in the Teutonic Order-occupied Adriatic coast as the people realize that they too can have their needs met as an independent nation or united with Greece/Italy (the two major ethnic groups in that area). So far only small protests have taken to the streets, and those were forcefully put down by the Teutonic troops.
