First off, I decided to change the name from Aned'l to J'von (Ja Von). Nothing major.
History of early J'von
-
"The best fish are in the most troubled waters."- J'von saying.
Far to the north of the cradle of civilization a new, complex society formed around the Aemi river valley. Situated far to the north at the opening of the Aemi river into the Shav'rin (the large lake), the society formed with no outside interfernce. Because of this, Javan customs and beliefs differ from their southern counterparts in most ways.
Tribes first settled down into the area roughly between 200 H.C (Hurrian Calendar) to 400 H.C. The tribes formed small city-states along the river and began to slowly communicate with each other. These early cities relied mainly upon large hunting parties to provide food for their people. Men mainly hunted the large populations of elk, and to an extent, the lions* that preyed upon them.
No one knows when exactly the tribes began to fish from the Aemi, but what is known that fishing caused a revolution compared to the agricultural one of the south. Within some fifty years after fishing first took place the major hunting parties disappeared and it took over as the major food source. The Aemi has one of the largest populations of fish in Neseria, and the tribes took advantage of it. By the year 550 H.C nets were employed, the cities had exploded in size, and immportant devolpments began to occur.
The first actual city was "Von", devolping around the year 600 H.C. The first "culturity" of the people was the strong belief in monarchy. One man ruled over the Von and his rule went without opposition. Under the Ivor, the king of the Von, the city first took up arms and conquored many of the other cities.
However an alliance led by the present-day capital of Sam'mer and Fredda-Synch proved to be too much for the Von. Sam'mer, located directly around the opening of the Aemi into Shav'rin, and Fredda-Don, a city further up the river that was composed of two "cities" on opposite banks, joined together after the war in an attempt to provide control over the region after Von was destroyed.
Major changes occured between the years of 600-700 H.C. The first alaphabet was devolped, a system of 28 lines that originally stood for diffrent types of animals. The people began to "farm" fish, digging extensive canals through the cities and populated them with the fish. Pottery was first cast from the muds along the river, and for the first time a variant of wheat was grown outside the city.
The results of these devolpments would revolutionize J'von into a complete nation. The alliance led by Sam'mer and Fredda-Synch would eventually fall apart due to competing kings. Around 750 H.C a king came into power in Sam'mer who could be called the ofunder of the nation. Brin, as he was called, set up the first legal system for the cities and cemented his control over the lower cities through diplomacy, war, and marriage; he installed many of his supporters into ruling positions of the cities.
The king of Fredda-Synch, the largest city in the north, began to fear the power of Sam'mer. The king, known as Farus, likened the new Sam'mer to the Von of old and was determined to stop the city before it could grow any larger. So Farus organized another alliance against Brin and set about destroying Sam'mer.
However, Brin wasn't idle when Farus was organizing his campaign. He demanded soldiers from all his subordienants and set about creating the largest army in the short history. The two alliances would meet in battle at a small valley called Tu'Chank. Sam'mer possed an army made up of mainly archers with a few spearmen to the front. Fredda-Synch, whose king thought bows were beneath them, fielded mainly spearmen. The resulting battle was disatrous for Fredda-Synch and in the year 800 H.C the city was razed completly.
Brin died quite soon after his victory over Fredda-Synch and his son Usayus took over. Fearful of another alliance to destroy Sam'mer, Usayus demoted all other kings into govenors and made them swear an oath of loyalty to him. He then expanded the legal system to much of the north and declared himself king of the entire region. Thus Ja Von was born.
