stNNES VI: A New Fantastic Point of View

Nope!

Thus, they weep for Thiranoa and will do so until they have it back.

Hmm... Is it anywhere on the map?
That does meet the criteria, but it is quite marshy, just so you know.

Meh, as long as there is a place for a city... Marshes, as proven by the nordling armies at Brenna during the War to End All Wars, make for good defensive positions.
They are lands which used to belong to the big human empires of the New Era. Feel free to settle there.

Actually, I meant a terrain description. You gave those descriptions for all other lands, but not for this one.

DARN, just realized something... Ah well, now that I started as elves, I will remain elves. Its just that I could have created a polar bear civilization had I remembered that. Ah well.

You could take my space as Communist Elves.... :mischief:

No, we're e... we're elves. Just elves. Honestly, that's all there is to it. Don't you believe me? Its not like there was a prophecy about elves doing anything evil or something.

The thing about Elves is that unlike the silly and corrupt humans the Elves can actually build a fair and successfull Communist state. I mean a real Commuist state.

I know. I already told you about that D&D-style game my friends are working on, right.

An elven communist in the swamps was built there. Oh, and those elves speak Finnish.

NO! allready 2 kingdoms just next to me, I'll change my starting position to this

Nurmaferian Empire (or just Nurmafer)
Player/Ruler: andis-1/Emperor Deworfanius
Age: Iron Age
Religion: Wordhip of Venus
Government: Emperor & Council of the Wise
Income: 2
Army: 500 swordsmen, 500 archers
Navy: 10 fire galleys [if by water]
Optimal Support: 3/4
Units available:
Agriculture: Barren
Industry: Barbarian
Infrastructure: Single Track Dirt Roads
Education: Barbaric
Confidence: Beating
Culture: Brutish
Projects: None so far

Nurmaferians are those barbarians of black steppes who left their homes when first attacks came. They sailed south along the coastline until they landed on the shores of Dusted Lands. They feared that if they go any further they will be killed great giants who are guarding edges of the world. So they sailed along the river until they came to place where it is separated to two. There they built their capital and settled the lands around it.
Allthough land is dry red dust, farmlands near the river are rich and extensive. The economy of Nurmaferians is based on agriculture since there are few natural resources except those horses that they brought with them from black steppes. They get most of their metals from dwarves who live in the mountains. This trade has increased amount of ships because the main trade route is the river, and as an side effect, it has boosted their ability to move armies and people along the river.
The main part of Nurmaferian army is their cavalry. Their riders are equiped with spears, swords, bows and shields but since they dont have much metals, they only have leather armour. But there is good side in light armour, as they can travel fast long distances. Their infantry is badly crippled by lack of armour, so they use wery long ( 3.5m) spears and tight formations to keep enemy at bay while their archers wear down the enemy, and their large shields protect them from enemy archers.
Their religion is not much different from other religions. Venus, Godness of wisdom and beauty, is honored in their temples and blah blah blah...
The Emperor has the power in country and council of the wise is more like some sort of senate which consist's of 25 members. This council will advice the Emperor on country's matter's but does not have power to change his orders, allthough they have power to replace him. If they want to replace the Emperor, 20/25 of them must agree to do this. No Emperor has ever been replaced, maybe because Emperor usually shares part of his power with the council.

Finnish is unrelated to the majority of scandinavian languages. ;)

Also, on an unrelated note, Finnish is offered as a high school course here, even though French, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Swahili, and Australian are not.

That's most intresting. And how did just these particular Elves get to speak Finnish?

Didn't play any part in their decision-making, sorry. The orcs speak German, the dwarves speak Georgian (Georgian as in Stalin), the humans speak various human languages... and the elves speak Finnish. Finnish sounds rather... different from ordinary elf-babble.

Chech your geography books, it's not.

Its very very very close. ;)

Meh, close enough for Finland to be a member of the Nordic Council or how is it called.

Russia is not a part of the European Union. ;) It might become a part of it, though.

Geographically a part of Russia is a part of Europe, but culturally it is something else entirely.

Incidentally, I wonder if we can find Finmaster for this one and make him start as the Finnish Elves... hmm... Aen Suomi.
