Stone & Marble

I'm surprised at people saying marble is better than stone. Stone outperforms marble along the entire lib track. Paper gives a stone wonder, philo gives a stone wonder. Then oxford is faster with stone as well. Stone provides vast quantities in bpt.

I'll settle bad cities to get both of them though, if it's my 3rd or 4th city. The failgold on (national) wonders usually pays off.

Sorry for noobness, but how do you get failgold from national wonders? I only know of the concept for world wonders when some other civs finish the wonder that you are currently building. But for national wonders other civs can't exactly stop you from completing it.

You start National Wonder in one city then cancel it. Start in another and cancel it, etc until you finally finish wonder and get fail gold in all cities that had hammers invested.

@yuchai,

You can partially build them in one or more cities, then take them off queue and finish elsewhere. It works the same - i.e. you get 1g for 1h invested in a failed build. Oftentimes you might want NE, HE and Oxford built quickly, so you can't milk it extensively in every game. Moai is usually less hurried, I guess. Still, it can be very useful even in small amounts, as this is cash that's well positioned to help in the Lib race.
