Stray (?) Cat Advice.

I just thought of this ... you should put a collar on him with a note saying "Put a collar on your cat or I'm keeping it"

If they don't collar it, they really should.
If no one collars it, you can rescue it.

Some cats take off their collars within minutes of getting them put on.....

Only if you put them on too loose. It can actually be quite dangerous if they can get their foot stuck in it.

Then I'd suggest to the the original owners not letting him out of the house, but I might be overstepping here (since I don't know how essential it is (for their health) to let unidentifiable cats roam around). Maybe it's just different culture, but around here it would be seen as a sign of bad ownership.

But it's also a $3 experiment, so I honestly think it's a great idea! It can even be repeated, if he comes back too quickly sans collar.

Plan B would be a chip! Then, I dunno, a variant of squatter rights can be applied.

Yep gonna do a paper collar for him and more leaflets.

Cats here pretty much wander at will no collars.

He lured me with food and threw me in a box roughly. I totally wasn't clawing him at the time!!!.

This is why you should have looked at some guides for dealing with Adult strays/ Feral.
That or gave it some Vodka first. (or use vodka on self) :D

I'm not to worried the claws are part of the fun.

He didn't struggle that much more than my male cat when it's very time.

Haven't seen him today. Think I heard him and I left food out and someone ate it as my 2 were inside.

Well dropped off more leaflets and he is on Facebook. Been leaving food out and someones been eating it.

More or less had a storm last night could hear him wailing. Spent two hours door knocking and dropping leaflets and he is on Facebook.

Think he's a bit sore seems in worse condition than a week ago.

Think I'm gonna executive decision and see if sister in law will give him a home. He needs a snip snip and some tlc.

looks like fleas to me......

Well he's not so wary around me now.

He gets dry food in the morning and wet at night.

He's not interested in water but there's plenty of water around the place and it's been wet last few days.

He lets me pat him and rubs up against my legs. He flopped in front of me today.

Just trying to get him used to regular feeding and a bit more comfortable around me.

He's getting adopted this weekend at least that's the plan.

Does he purr much?

Haven't spend that much time close to him. He was chirping at me today.

I was only seeing him every 2-3 days seems daily ATM.

Kinda training him to get fed in morning and evening. Thursday or Friday he is getting rehomed. Probably Friday.

Seems to be wailing less. He reminded me of a stray I adopted in 90's. She was starving and would wail wanting food presumably.

Is that the cat in your avatar?

Maddy wails at me, and she's certainly not starving. She's just of the opinion that every time I get up, whether it's off my chair or out of bed, I'm supposed to feed her. I've begun giving her smaller meals but a bit more frequently than before.

But a stray is a different story. It takes time to get them to realize that they don't need to worry about their next meal.
