hey just do at the laoding new game screen click play last world, just change the dificulty :)you will get the same spot, just dont start a new map or it wont work.. :(

I had no idea you could do that. Very cool.

Othniel, I would probably move the settler anyway, I hate having a mountain right against my city, so even on yours I would move the settler. I have kept looking and found a few, but all have problems. I guess post your save, and I will go from there. I'm tired of waiting too.

Stop the presses!:D I have one here that looks extremely good, it's on a river, has 1 Bonus wheat on grass, 1 forest, 2 FP's, 2BG's all in the first 9 squares and the settler can stay put. I'd love to go with this one, I have all the right settings this time, and I think this one could be a settler factory. Anyone like the looks of this one?:king:

I want to start tomorrow afternoon, either on Othniel's Cow/FP, or this one of mine. So tonight while I sleep, choose the tech path, I assume it will be pottery>writing and then either philo>monarchy or COL>philo>republic, but that can be hammered out in later turns. I will get to bed and play my turn in this round tomorrow, unless there are any objections. I will check here first, though. Good night, all.

Let's go with your last map there. :) Looks good.

If you irrigate the wheat, one of the flood plains, and then mine the two BG's, we still won't have enough production for a factory although we'll have +5fpt (provided we work those tiles I just mentioned). We'll have to either hope for something good in the fog or mine a grass tile to get the extra shields. We'll have to run the factory when we are size 5- size 6 in order to get enough production.

I say research writing on max. I do think odds are high enough that we will be able to trade for pottery.

What are your intended build orders?

Good luck! :salute:

lurker's comment: You can always extract the game settings from any save using CA2, then set it up as a "new" game, using all the same settings, but change the difficulty level. I do this often to change difficulty, to change barb settings, or even to use a good map to play a different civ.

In my test game, writing took a full 50 turns, so I wonder if we should start with pottery and then do writing, or risk trying to trade for it as we meet other civs. I am getting ready to start on this computer, which doesn't have CivAssist 2, but does have internet access, albeit slow. I wonder where everyone is? I guess I will go on previous plans made and see how things come out.

I have done my 20 turns, I'n not real crazy about my progress, and somehow the other civs reverted back to random, which surprised me, guess who I made first contact with? I'm not sure whether 20 turns is from 4000-3000BC and the next turn starts at 2950, or the next player does the 3000 BC turn. I saved at 3000 BC, so that's where Kumquat starts. I will post my log and screenshot with this.

I've not looked at the save, so please bear with me.

Generally, at the end of your turns, you save the game at the end of the turn. On of the preferences is to always wait at the end of the turn (or some such verbage). So when the game is waiting for you to hit enter to continue to the next turn, don't. Save the game at that point.

This will allow the next player to examine the state of the game and make changes (if any are needed) before the next turn begins.

Two things that are SG bad-manners. One is having a rally-point. Don't set one until you get rails and only then with team consent. Two is having workers on any sort of auto-move or auto-improve that will carry over into the next turnset. On your turns if you want to auto-move a unit, fine, do it. But on your last turn, don't auto-move a unit that will continue the auto-move while the next player is playing.

I think this has been covered, but don't automate workers. You will do a better job of worker turn management by doing it yourself. The AI doesn't gang workers together. And it has funny ideas about tile improvements.

Duh! Sry 'bout that. I forgot the basic next step, just shows my newbie-ness at this. Thanks Cbob for reminding me of those etiquette points, I say no rally points and never automate workers. I'll hurry so Kumquat can play. Good luck!

The Aztecs are right next to us  We are on regent? Oh well...

Turn 21 Move warrior east see some coast.
Turn 22 Move warrior east again confirm that we have an ocean on both sides.
Turn 23 Move warrior south and worker completes road will move to the forest west off Paris to hurry the granary.
Turn 24 Move warrior south again warrior. Warrior complete in Orleans start another granary.
Turn 25 Move warrior south spot a light purple border (man this place is crowded).
Turn 26 Move warrior close to border meet Ragnar son of Odin of the Vikings trade Masonry for Bronze Work.
Turn 27 Move warrior west.
Turn 28 Chopped forest now to irrigate/road that cattle by the river. Moved warrior west spot a goody hut.
Turn 29 Popped the hut got three angry Gepid warriors.
Turn 30 The warriors ran away lol. Moved our warrior west.

Good idea, can you do that when you finish your first turn? I'm also wondering if 10 turns is enough this early, maybe all first round should be 20 then 10 from there. We can do that in further games, maybe next one be a Russia/Emperor/Standard Map SG, still focused on learning to play better. Anyways, hope I didn't screw up too much. Apparently I really screwed up, Regent level? grr, I am very disappointed in myself. I wonder if it's too many screw-ups to continue, before we get too far along? I could try out Othniel's save and see how it goes.

A roster would be helpful at this point, so that the players are aware of what is coming up.

This is from a current SG, CBob03, and the last roster posting:

I shamelessly stole this formatting from Niklas in SGOTM 09. Feel free to use it, ignore it, or develop your own roster style. :D
