Sucession LK6 - Anyone plays - Iroqouis

lkendter,

Thanks.

Since I only got to play 8 turns I am going to play a few more now that I have some more time.

I hadn't even noticed that America had been pretty much wiped out. I will get some settlers over there right away.

1826AD
Changed production in Paris and Leeville to settler.

1828AD
Paris to produce another settler, it is maxed out on space so only giving up a scientist.
Negotitated peace with Japan, got wmap and 2 gold/turn from them.
Hurried production of temple in Brighton, need to get the borders expanded so no one gets a city squeezed onto the other end of this island.

1830AD
Landed a settler on the former America area with the spices. Lots of other civs are moving into this area. Hope to settle a city next turn.

1832AD
Completed research of The Corporation, studying refining next so that we can see where the oil is. Raised science up to 70% so we will get refining in 4 turns. Now running a 4 gold/turn deficit but over 3,000 gold in treasury so we are OK. Keeping the cash to rush improvements on the new continent.
Readyland founded on the new continent right in the middle of the 3 spices and the coal. Landed the other settler on the new continent, will try to found a city next turn next to the dyes, but other civs may beat us to it. I have one more settler waiting to be shipped over and I will try to found a city on the shore between the two new cities.

1834AD
Persia destroyed the last American city.
Our palace is expanded. Why are we only building the second story at this point in time?
Trade silks to Japan for 32 gold/turn, trade them furs for another 32 gold/turn and for incense they give us 39 gold/turn.
Founded Munith on the new continent, will get dyes when our borders expand. I think I would have lost out if I had waited another turn to get right next to the dyes.
Rushed temple in Readyland.

1836AD
Our palance is again expanded, I guess we are making up for lost time.
Rushed temple in Munith.

1838AD
St Thomas founded on the shores of the new continent.
Refining will be discovered next turn so I turned down the science rate to maximize the income on this last turn.

Well that is enough for me for now. I spent alot of time with worker movements again. We have so much darn jungle to clear out that it is a slow process. Our main cities are in pretty good shape but will need to be revisited when they start to reach sizes where they are working all the available squares.

Check the trades with India, our agreement to trade them coal should run out next turn. Don't renew this agreement. There is a settler in St Thomas for founding another city, maybe up near that field of dyes? I have gathered the spare cavalry in Kendtertown, the spare infantry in Paris and the spare artillery in Oil Springs. I was preparing for war with Rome but I will leave that decision to the next leader. We won't gain any new resources by capturing Rome's cities but it will give us our entire continent and there is one Roman city over on the Egyptian continent that would be nice to have in case we have a war with Egypt in the future.
Good luck.

1840 AD we compleeted refining. We had 5 oil sources now we have 4 because 1 decayed even when I didn't have made any oil units. Started to invent Steel.

1842 AD Ravenna changed side to Romans and I started war. Currently our war weariness is very heavy. Mayby we should change to communism because we are religious.

1842 AD found new city next to dyes on other continent.

Started to invent Combustion. Some cities are starving because I changed some people to entertainers. Mayby we should get peace or change communism. Cities need some managing after this war. I ended coal deal with Indians. I destroyed many frigates whit artillery and ironclads,

I'll see what I can do with the war effort but I will stop after the war, since I have no experoence what-so-ever with city tinkering.

I checked the game and it is way beyond my level of expertise. I would suggest that we mobolize our economy so we can get the extra military production and if possible we should try to get the advance for tanks. We can probably take one or two Roman cities with all of the calvary that we have but tanks would make life a lot more liveable. Good luck to anyone who can handle these turns and I'm sorry that I couldn't help out this time.

Just took a quick look at the current state of the game and have a few suggestions:

To address the war weariness:
1. Trade for wine and/or gems, more luxuries will help appease the masses. I would reccomend paying gold/turn for the luxuries as we are in such a good financial position. We are also now leading everyone in science and I wouldn't reccomend giving up that advantage if possible.
2. Then raise the entertainment %, it is currently at 10% and we are making over 300 gold/turn with a 5,000 gold treasury. We can even run at a slight deficit for awhile and still be OK. If really necessary the science % could be dropped 10 or 20% until peace is achieved.

As to the war with Rome:
1. Rome won't currently talk to us. You'll need to get them on the defensive to get them to talk, I believe.
2. Use combined forces to take at least on more city. Stack up some cavalry, infantry and artillery and move the stack up next to one of the cities. Use the artillery to bombard the defenders so their down to one bar left apiece and then attack with the cavalry. The infantry will defend the stack as you move it and will then be used to defend the city. While bombarding you probably will also reduce the size of the city which will be helpful if you can get it below 7 because then their defenders won't get the bonus strength for city size. Reducing the city size will also help in keeping the city from revolting later. And while bombarding you might take out their barracks which is always helpful. After taking a city or two, if you need to sue for peace try to get them to give you one or both of the offshore cities. Then we can wait until we have tanks and a better navy to take the rest of the Roman empire.

We certainly have the production and scientific advantage over Rome at this point so if now isn't quite the right time to finish them off we will get there shortly.

Hopefully someone will give this game a try. It looks to be a decent challenge and a good learning experience.

1850: Economy mobilized to speed up the war effort. Luxuries raised to 20% to reduce war weariness. I looked into trading for gems and wines, the two luxuries that we lack but the other nations wanted too much for them. I could have gotten them from India for steel but I wasn’t keen on loosening our technology lead. We definitely won’t be able to win via UN, so we have to leave all other victory conditions open.

1852: Roman City of veil, which was founded near one of our rubber sources captured and razed. Roman city of Pompeii captured. We lost two galleons and some workers.

1854: War.

1856: Rome captured! Science raised to 60%. Ironclad sunk 3 Roman galleons. Lutetia captured and another Roman galleon is sunk.

1858: Spent approximately 1,000 rushing projects in America. Rome declares war on India! We lose more workers.

1860: Antium captured and we recapture 3 workers.

1862: Neapolis captured. India asks us for an MPP, I try to get some luxuries out of the deal, they refuse, so I do not accept the MPP. We have now begun research of combustion; I did not right down the tech that we finished.

1864: War.

1866: We lost a galleon full of infantry and artillery heading towards the Roman settlement on Egypt.

1868: We sell Incense to Persia for 15 gold per turn; I should have tried to get wines from them. Japan and Egypt agree to a MPP. We may want to look into an MPP with India, just so it isn’t us against the world but we can survive alone.

1870: We lost another galleon full of troops… I love how a Roman galleon with 1 health can attack a veteran galleon and manage to sink it… oi vey.

1872: Lugdunum captured and with that the Romans are gone. They are the fifth civilization to perish, all of which have fallen to our steel. We have troops amassed at Pisae and Pompeii; you should bus them over to Egypt so if they cause any problems we will be prepared. Science was raised to 70% but should be turned down after the next turn; it will get you the next tech in your first turn. We should then go for mass production and my preference would then be motorized transport but that will be your prerogative.

1872AD
Set city governors to manage happiness. (They do a pretty good job and that is just too much micromanagement, even for me)
Renegotiated some trades:
Silks to Persia - 35/turn, now 40/turn, maxed out their income, will wait a couple turns to renegotiate the fur trade
Incense to Egypt - was at 47/turn, she wasn't interested in that or our silks
Furs to India, was at 30/turn, now at 67/turn
Silks to India, was at 46/turn, now at 67/turn

1874AD
India and Egypt sign MPP
Combustion research completed, chose Flight (5 turns) next so we can get some airports build, then will go for Mass Production
Reveiwed production orders in all cities. All recently acquired cities I rushed temples, if we don't have some culture our borders will never expand and they might revolt to another civ.
We have a huge military force, will only produce artillery and destroyers at this time. I will also upgrade our galleons to transports. I will move our forces around to ensure all of our cities are defended by at least two infantry, except for some interior cities will have only one. I will station artillery in cities likely to be hit in an invasion. I will move some of our spare forces over to the other two continents in case we are attacked. Egypt has me worried a bit with not wanting our luxuries and signing the MPP with India.
Japan is in sad shape financially, tried to renegotiate our trade agreements with them and they were only able to offer a lesser amount for one of the items. For the other two I got some wine plus I had to throw in some cash. But I lowered our entertainment % to 10 from 20 which saved just about 200 gold/turn.
Renegotiated Incense to India deal, was 54/turn, now 67/turn.
Concentrated workers on improving our core cities, some are working all of the available squares, converting irrigation to mines in those cities to limit growth, also trying to get the last of the jungle cut down in cities that will actually produce more than one sheild.

1876AD
Palace is expanded!!
Producing settlers in three cities to fill in the gaps created by the Roman cities destroyed, we will never get our culture borders to totally fill that area up there and I don't want any other civ building a city up there. I have troops stationed along the coasts to prevent this until the cities are founded.

1878AD
Boring, infrastructure building.

1880AD
Japan wanted to trade their wmap for our wmap and steel, I declined, gave them 5 gold instead.
Traded incense to Egypt for 52/turn
Traded silks to Egypt for 52/turn
One of the Persian trade agreements can be renegotiated but their look to be in bad economic shape so I'm not going to risk getting a lower price, getting 44/turn now.
Turned down the science rate to 50%, we will still get flight in 5 turns.
Founded Gandasetaigon and Ganogeh, two of the cities to fill in the old Roman area, started Temples in both.

1882AD
Founded Gayagaahe, the former Roman area will be all filled up when the first border expansion happens.
Hurried the temples in the two cities founded last turn.
Another boring year of worker movements.

1884AD
Persia and India have signed a MPP
Discovered Flight, Mass Production is only 4 turns away after bumping science 10%
Switched production in the 8 highest producing cities to airports, they will all be done in less than 4 turns. Also switched production in one city on the Indian/Persian continent and our one city on the Egyptian continent to airports and rushed both. We will be in good shape to get forces to where they are needed as soon as some of the transports are moved to better locations. We have a couple more moving into St Regis to be ready to invade India if needed. We could also use some over on our East Coast to invade the Japanese/Persian continent.

I have grown weary of the worker movements and will allow the next leader to take over. We are in good shape. We have the tech lead, but Egypt is close behind us. We have a surplus of 265 gold/turn, techs are coming in 4 turns, our treasury is at 1,940. Tanks are less than 10 turns away. Our core cities are in really good shape.

We can't win a 100,000 cultural victory due to Egypt's high culture. But maybe we can get our capital to 20,000, we are at 11,297 now, adding 71 per turn, so that is about 120 turns away. But I am sure we will get more wonders in that city. Our relationship with other civs is not great so I bet we can't win a diplomatic victory unless we can turn them around shortly. But we should focus on getting the UN built as soon as possible so no one else gets it. Other than that we can win anyway we want, I believe, as long as we are careful and protect ourselves well if all the other civs gang up on us. The other civs have MPP's going on, I didn't enter any because it always seems that as soon as I do I am dragged into a war. I think we would be wise to wait until after getting tanks to go to war. We are close and we can crank em out with our core cities.

I fortified our extra forces in Paris (Infantry), Oil Springs (Artillery), and Kendertown (Cavalry). I find it easier to know what forces I have available when I organize them this way.

Good luck to the next leader.

This is why I had the leader rush Shakespeare's theartere. I always like that as a standy.

I am going to play a few turns here.

We should prepare for either Cultural (20000) or space race. I can't see domination / conquest with how little time is left.

UN = NO way. Our relationships aren't good enough to pull that off. However, we want to BUILD it!

Well I have learned my lesson -
Large maps just are to much for an anyone plays game.
Of course, it is already 1884 :)

Man has this world changed - There just 5 civs left out of 12!
Dead = China (us), England (us), Rome (us), Babylon (us), America (Persia & ?), France (us - VERY early, but very key), and Zulu (Persia / India).

I cancel furs for Ivory, and instead take $42/turn from Egypt. I want to drain there budget.
India and Egypt both have hugh cultural scores - 100,000 pt culture is out.
Maybe 20000 pt super culture city, or space race.
Domination - Possible, but we need an awful lot of cities.

1
1886 - Worker movement overload. Start troop movement to Lugdunum. Oh no, we are doomed. The Egyptians have war charioits :lol

2
1888 - Lot more land development, and more troops toward Lugdunum.

3
1890 - Repeat, adding bombers to Lugdunum. Make a easy decision - Motorized Transportation.

4
1892 - Why to I feel like I just did this?

5
1894 - Well war does start, but with Persia? Chondote falls and razed  I am not surprised that it fell. An awful lot of Calvary hit it. Munith holds - lost 1 inf, but several Persian calvary die. How much Calvary does Persia have? Throw away some shields, but St. Thomas builds walls. This will be our main base for the war. The couple of Calvary we have, kill 2 Persian Calvary.

Up next - A warmonger!

I give you -
1 - Lots on Bombers in St. Thomas.
2 - Walls to help protect the Bombers.
3 - Transports with a lot of Calvary 1 turn from St. Thomas.
4 - Another stack of Transports by Lutetia, mostly artillery.
5 - A ally in Japan at the cost of Refining.
6 - The challenge, space race is also getting close. I would resverve Salamance for wonders and space parts at 80+ shields a turn.

Research Fission next, and build up shields for the UN in Salamance (80+ shields). We would probably LOSE the vote. I want us to control the voting.

Wanted - A warmonger!
Kill the Persians!

Remember, anyone plays

Well, heavens! Nobody's done this for a few days??? I was more than a bit intimidated by the post if you can play within 4 hours on opening message, but I guess that's gone out the window, huh?

I've not participated in any succession games before, but this looks like a fun thing to try. If I don't hear any objection, I'm gonna take the next ~20 turns and play them in the next 24 hours or so. I'll post Friday.

Wish me luck!

Arathorn,

Go for it. I hope you are use to war.

At this point the 4 hours turn around isn't realistic. However, I still want a max of 24 hours.

as told by Royal Historian Arathorn

[Peanut Gallery (PG): "Royal Historian? But we're a democracy." Royal Historian (RH): "Well.... it's an old title. A carry-over from earlier years." PG: "But were we ever a monarchy?" RH: "Just shut up!"]

0 - 1894 - Loopey ascended to the throne [PG: "Throne?" RH: "Fine! Seat of power suit you better?" PG: "Yes, quite."] -- seat of power -- in 1894. He was ruler of VAST tracts of land, more land than he really felt he needed. Plus, he had a huge military force.

A misplaced military force at that. He summoned his advisors. "Why do we have multiple infantry units defending completely interior cities?" They muttered something about previous policy. "Ludicrous! If forces can actually land on our continent and survive long enough to get to one of our internal cities, a couple infantry aren't gonna make much difference. Ship 'em out!" With that, the great airlift campaign began, with infantry pouring into St. Thomas from the skies. Too few airports exist on Iriquois mainland, so multiple air units were discarded in favor of airports.

In international affairs, Japan captured the previously Egyptian city of This, which was later raised by Persian forces. India and Egypt both declared war on Japan. A bloodbath ensued, with the Persian cavalry near Munith attacking someone else. Multiple cities completed multiple project and began many new projects -- too many to categorize. [PG: "What? No detailed report." RH: "I tried. Honestly. But after the first ten, I just couldn't care any more!"] Pollution and the cancelling of "We love the Chief Day" were rampant. [PG: "First, Royal, now Chief! What's up with that?" RH: "Oh, shut up, will ya?!"]

1 - 1896 - Loopey decides on a policy of unit elimination, while trying to avoid attacking the Persians on Persian soil. Loopey doesn't want the Persian MPP with India triggered any earlier than it has to be. Bombing begins, units are unloaded from transports, artillery move into position outside Detroit but do not fire. A good dozen Persian cavalry are eliminated, with a few archers/immortals/riflemen/spearmen thrown in for flavor. No Iriquois units are lost.

The airlift to St. Thomas continues. Forces are moved to reinforce Munith. many great sea battles are waged, to the detriment of both fleets (we lost a couple ironclads or so. Persia lost much more.) The homeland is still GREATLY overdefended in Loopey's mind but he can only send so many units completely safely every turn.

In not-so-direct military events, the science rate was lowered with no noticeable loss in efficiency. A Right of Passage and Persian embargo was signed with the Japanese, as we wished to attack Persian units in Japanese territory. Thought was given to gifting the Japanese with some much-needed technology but none was offered yet.

Despite Loopey's efforts, India declares war (on their turn), citing a MPP with Persia. The last Japanese city near our front was destroyed. Indian ships bombard Iriquois lands. Many cities complete many things and begin many other things. A lot of Police are demanded.

2 - 1898 - Loopey bombs new Ganges, an Indian city, and Egypt declares war on us. They had a MPP with India. SIGH! It's Japan/Iriquois vs. India/Persia/Egypt. And Japan isn't much of a partner. And we're still doing VERY well.

Detroit is heavily bombarded with artillery. Loopey's generals have long preached the folly of attacking fortified infantry with cavalry alone. The message has been taken to heart. Very injured infantry *are* susceptible to cavalry charges, as the razing of Detroit and the capture of New Ganges attest. [PG: "Capture one and raze one? Is Loopey schizophrenic?" RH: "Yes, that's it. Either that or he realizes that Detroit was relatively close to Persepolis and New Ganges was quite a ways from other Indian cities." PG: "Sorry." RH: "Not sorry enough."]

The war with Egypt means the transports headed to the Persian front really DID belong in Lugdunum and they spin around, hoping to reach the city before it falls. The airlift this year is to Lugdunum, not to St. Thomas as in previous years.

On the naval front, we bombarded some Egyptian land, fought fleets of various nations, sinking more than we lost but still losing an occasional ship. Probably the best news, though, was seeing a large Persian stack moving towards St. Thomas. [PG: "That's good news?" RH: "SHUT UP and LISTEN, will you?!?"] The stack was large -- about 15 units. [PG: "What?" RH: "Grr...."] It consisted of riflemen, archers, and immortals. They're hurting already.

During enemy movements, New Ganges was attacked by both the Indians the Persians, with no casualties on either side (cavalry retreat but infantry dominate). Lugdunum was also attacked by a horde -- a horde of war chariots! [PG: "Seriously, what happened?" RH: "I just told you." PG: "Nobody's stupid enough to send war chariots against infantry." RH: "Apparently, Cleopatra is. Although, I'd still like to ..." PG: "Just relate the history." RH: "Bite me!"]

On the home front, another slew of cities finished doing a slew of things and were told to do more things. Then, the Royal Scientist [PG: "Again with the Royal..." RH: foams at the mouth] announced the discovery of Motorized Transportation. Soon, Iriquois tanks would be crushing the enemy under giant rubber treads. Loopey ordered the man back to work on Computers, publicly citing a need to contact intelligence somewhere, even extra-terrestrial. Privately, Loopey is interested in Mobile Infantry, for obvious reasons.

The people, still polluting up a storm and increasingly unhappy, order huge phallic symbols built in front of Loopey's pathetic palace.

3 - 1900 - Science expenditures are increased to 80% of the budget. This means a loss of 395 gold/turn from a treasury of 2847 (at that time), but it also means faster research. This will bear much watching by the next leader.

The transports from Lugdunum returned. On that front, the war (hehehehe) chariots were crushed and a force of infantry and artillery moved into Egyptian land. Those cities look perfect for razing, if the opportunity presents itself. A reasonable number of bombers were re-based in Lugdunum as well, as their limited range would be of more use on the packed Egyptian cities.

On the Persian/Indian front, a lot of clean-up of injured cavalry was done. The artillery/infantry stack started to move deeper into Persian lands. A Persian leader was spotted on a mountain near Readyland. He was summarily executed for being non-Iriquois.

Back on the homeland continent, all land units (infantry/artillery) were changed over to tanks. A few were purchased. The Democratic whip was cracked in some of the outlying cities with 12 population to encourage production. [PG: "Democratic whip?" RH: "Yeah. Draft, disband. 22 shields." PG: "Huh." RH: "Dickhead." PG: "What?" RH: "Nothing...."]

At the end of 1900, President Looney was assassinated. The official story is that it was Egyptian dissidents under the control of Ghandi, but everybody knows the Royal Historian finally snapped and did it himself.

An election is being held! Who's next???

Edit: Picture deleted.

Well, it was reasonably successful. I was much less aggressive than I normally am, as it isn't just "my game" I might be screwing up. Our military is seriously huge. I think we can easily fight all three reasonably successfully. However, I would advocate for attacking Egypt and either Persia/India and just defending against the other.

Boy, these turns take a long time. I would've done another one or two had I not needed to try to take notes on what was happening. There's just an awful lot of stuff!

My suggestions:

1. Finish Police Stations and then build tanks. War weariness will probably get bad and we might have to go Communism, but I wanted to stay Democracy for research as long as I could.
2. Bomb the HECK out of Egypt. Raze Cleopatra's cities there.
3. I think a spaceship win is our best bet, but Domination is probably possible if we really work at it.
4. Keep emptying the main continent interior cities to beef up outlying defenses. I mean, this isn't Civ2 folks. Plus, the AI really seems to struggle with landings. The coastal cities, though, are still well-defended, just on the off-chance they build Marines.

Yeah, it's all-out war, but it's one the Iriquois are really in a position to win.

Arathorn,
Sounds like you got the war off to a good start.

I've spent most of my time with this game cleaning up after wars and building infrastructure, time for me to have some warring fun :)

Been awhile so first I spend some time looking at our current state of affairs before ending 1900AD.
From the domestic advisor report three things are apparent:
1. We are 6 turns from researching Computers. That I will change to Fission because we have to get the UN or we lose this game.
2. It appears that we are very close to having many cities go into civil disorder. I check with the trade advisor but our only trading partner, Japan, has no new luxuries to trade. Entertainment is at 0%, so I bump that to 10% to thwart losing productivity at this point.
3. We were losing 399 gold/turn prior to that tax bump, now it is 633. (Our lose of trade due to war is killing us here.) I drop science rate from 80% down to 50% (we will discover Fission in 9 turns), now we are making a 46 gold/turn profit. Our treasury is at 1,755.
Some cities converted to happiness producing structures.
Our military advisor reports that our military consists of:
1 settler
49 workers (so that's why turns take so darn long with this game)
2 swordsman
21 cavalry
167 infantry
37 artillery
1 frigate
1 galleon (I will upgrade that)
17 ironclad
13 transports
12 destroyers
1 fighter
14 bombers
We need tanks, strong naval units, air units and more tanks.
All of our military production is currently on tanks and naval units which makes sense to me. 8 tanks will be produced this next turn and then some of those cities I will begin to phase back to air units.
Our foreign advisor confirms that we are still at war with Persia, India and Egypt, as is our only friend, Japan.
None of our trade agreements come up for renegotiation for at least 7 turns.
Our culture advisor reports that our only chance at a culture win, Salamanca is at 11,865 and adding 71 per turn, we are a long way from a culture win, don't think that is going to happen.
According to our science advisor we are 9 turns from Fission and we skipped amphibious warfare and advanced flight in the industrial age.
After looking around the map a bit I decide we have too many workers improving cities that will never contribute anything so I move some of those to cleaning up pollution and coastal war damage in our core city area.

1902AD
I laugh as I watch Egypt bombard our coastal roads around the former Roman cities, oh, that hurts us so much. I laugh even harder as they send their military towards Lugdunum. They sent 20 war chariots!!, 3 infantry and 1 cavalry. I take out the infantry and cavalry and leave the chariots to beat themselves against the walls of the city. I bombard the first Egyptian city and airlift in 8 tanks. I will begin the assault of Egypt next turn. Asyut, two cities northwest of ours, that has what appears to be Egypt's only source of oil and some ivory is my initial goal.
I conduct some naval warfare with good results. But I do almost lose a full strength elite destroyer on an Indian frigate!
Had two cities go into civil disorder. Lots of production finished, some started happiness improvements, others military units.
Our offense units on the Indian/Persian continent spend a turn in the barracks healing up, bombardments don't have much success. Bombers are moved to cities where they can reach the new targets.
A transport of workers is shipped off to each continent to help speed our assault forces attacks.

1904AD
Egypt bombers were sent against Lugdunum and took out the walls. 14 of the war chariots, the others had been injured by our artillery on their way into position, were sent against the city. One died, the rest are sitting there with one hit point.
More moving units into position.
From the domestic advisor report it is obvious that war weariness has caught up with us. Time to use that religiousness and switch governments. We fall into anarchy.

1906AD
I choose Republic. Our research time has slowed, we are now 10 turns from Fission. But at 20% entertainment our cities are doing OK and we are running a slight profit.
Bad news, Egypt has tanks. They are putting up a good fight at Lugdunum and brought in more units this turn. This time they brought in 3 infantry, 2 cavalry, 2 swordsman and a longbowman. 5 cavalry attacked the city by land and all were repelled with no losses to us or them.
Barracks were rushed in Lugdunum. Though the walls were destroyed last turn I felt that due to the weak units they were sending in against us that it was more important to have a healing place than more defense.
After bombarding El-Ashmunein I attacked and took the city with the loss of only one cavalry. I decided to not raze the city as I need it for a bomber base to take my real target, Asyut. If I am right about that being their only source of oil than it is important to get that city. They might be able to trade for some oil but that will cost them money and therefore will cut into their research abilities.
I took out all of the strong forces outside Lugdunum. The others can sit there and throw themselves at the city at their leisure. I have them surrounded with infantry so they aren't going anyplace, unless they pick them up with the next transport.
I am kinda feeling the lack of fresh troops this turn due to last turn's anarchy. I wish I could push on here or take out more of the Egyptian troops around Lugdunum but our forces are at least strong enough for defending.
On the other continent I attack the Indian city just southwest of Munith, I lose two cavalry in the process but they lose their five troops and six ships that were sitting in the city. I decide to raze this city. New Ganges is in position to serve as a bomber base for the next two cities so I didn't want to spend the money defending this city. Sorry I razed the city before thinking to check it's name.
Borazjan, the first Persian city northeast of New Ganges I have been bombarding the last few turns, it is now down to a population of 1.

1908AD
Egypt's attack this time was limited to bombing the railroads around the city just taken.
I use the Egyptian troops outside Lugdunum for more troop training. I think I have made 4 elite troops while slowly killing them off. There are now 12 chariots left. El-Ashmunein still has two resisting citizens but I am risking it and moving in bombers. We really need that ivory that is now just one city northwest of us.
On the other continent I am trying to get set up to push on towards Bangalore which has gems.

1910AD
Egypt again bombed some railroads around the city we took but our workers were able to re-establish the supply railroad so they didn't slow us down.
Egyptian tanks then attacked the city but all five were repelled. They then sent a cavalry unit that was also fought off. The resistance finally ends and I rush a temple in the city.
I bomb the lone Egyptian city on the other continent and both infantry units are down to one hit point. I lose three cavalry attacking the city and the last one upgrades one of their units so I decide to give it another try next turn.
I kill off all of the Egyptian tanks outside El-Ashmunein, losing one cavalry unit. I continue bombing the ivory city.
We pretty much rule the seas now. Though Egypt does have 5 or 6 pesky frigates bombarding that one city island at the very north of our continent, Brighton. I have finally freed up a destroyer that is headed up that way. Every time I take out a transport I miss the message that Civ2 gives regarding how many units went down with the ship :(

1912AD
Egypt again makes a lame attack on El-Ashmunein. But we do lose one tank in the battle.
Finally, all of the war chariots are gone!
Bubastis, the lone Egyptian city on the other continent is destroyed this turn with no loses to us.
New York, Persian, is taken. We are now at the doorstep of gems in Bangalore. It will take a couple turns to get the gems though.
I continue bombing the ivory city and move units right beside it. I plan to take it next turn, raze it and build a new city with ivory!
War weariness is really getting to be a problem. I have to pump up the entertainment to 40% to stave off civil unrest. I also drop the science % so we don't lose too much money. I need some cash to rush temples in the new cities. I will have to sue for peace as soon as I get the luxuries.

1914AD
War weariness is a huge problem. Many cities, although not the core cities, fall into civil unrest.
After bombing the ivory city until all defenders are down to one hit point I take the city with no loses to us. I raze the city. The settler will take three turns to reach the site for our new ivory city.
As I clean up the Egyptian attackers around El-Ashmunein one of the war chariot trained elite cavalry creates a great leader, Tecumseh. I immediately load him on a transport and send him back to the main continent. He will be used to build the UN.
I rush a temple in New York.
More movement of troops for attacks next turn.
I decide it is time we go to communism. I don't usually play with religious civs so I am not accustomed to being able to so quickly switch governments.
We fall into anarchy.

1916AD
Under communism I drop entertainment to 0% and raise science to 40%, we have a 40 gold/turn surplus.
Egypt lands another transport of troops on shore, this time near El-Ashmunein. 2 infantry, 1 cavalry, 2 longbowman and 3 war chariots!! Where the heck are they coming up with these chariots? Are they still producing them? Oh well, more troop training material.
After bombing, I attack the city just east of El-Ashmunein. I lose one tank but take the city and raze it. Get 8 more workers.
All the Egyptian troops just landed are destroyed.
On the other continent, Borazjan is taken.
The city of Chondote is established next to the gems, as soon as Bangalore is destroyed we will have the gems within our borders.

1918AD
Egypt and Japan have signed a peace treaty.
Japan wants to renegotiate our luxury trade. They wanted way too much for their wine. I told em to take a walk.
Borazjan, after withstanding more than 10 Indian cavalry, fell to the first Persian cavalry. We were down to one hit point on our last infantryman.
Egypt wanted to talk, I said no. We will have our ivory in a couple turns, then we will talk peace.
Bangalore was taken. We now have gems.

1920AD
The Egyptian city just east of Lugdunum was taken and razed.
Gewauga was established and we now have ivory.
Time for peace.
From Egypt we get wmap and 40 gold/turn
India pays us wmap and 8 gold/turn
And Persia wmap and 14 gold/turn
Now it is time to heal up, return to Democracy and get the UN.
The city of Goigouen is founded between Munith and New York to seal our cultural borders (when they expand a bit).
We fall into anarchy once again.

1922AD
We are again a Democracy.
Entertainment is at 0%, science at 60%. We will have Fission in 3 turns. We are running a 21 gold/turn surplus.
Rushed temples in some of the new cities.
Lots of movement of troops to barracks and naval units to harbors. Even more worker movements.

1924AD
Our surplus has increased to 127.
Egypt will not trade for any of luxuries.
India gave us 55 gold/turn for furs. That seems to have maxed out their income. For silks they offered us 4 gold/turn, when I tried to increase it to even 5/turn our advisor said they would never go for that. Needless to say, India isn't getting any silks right now.
We have a trade embargo against Persia that expires in 6 turns.
Japan must be broke because they won't even make an offer for our luxuries.
Nobody is happy with us. Even Japan is annoyed with us. They are still at war with India and Persia and I don't think they are doing well.
Temples rushed in the last of the new cities.
More moving stuff around.

1926AD
I drop science rate down 10%, still getting Fission next turn but increases our income by over 200 gold for the turn.
It appears Japan is having a real hard time in their wars. I would like them to keep India and Persia wasting their resources. So I give Japan Iron, Saltpeter and Electronics for Wine. I'm afraid if I don't help them out they will be gone soon. They probably will be anyway.
Egypt is now willing to deal. But they only will give us 30 gold/turn for one of our luxuries. I decide to make them pay entertainment tax instead. Egypt is even with us on techs. It is a race to the UN.

1928AD
We discover Fission. I decided we should research Computers. This will allow us to get the SETI Program and Research Labs which should help in our space race. The science rate is raised to 70%, we will get SETI in 6 turns but we are losing 70 gold/turn. Our treasury is at 1,888 so we are OK.
We do have three sources of uranium.
Salamanca production is switched to the UN. Great leader Tecumseh gives his life for the project.

1930AD
We did get the UN!!
No, we did not hold a vote. We would certainly lose.
I chose not to build The Manhattan Project because I don't want nukes any sooner than we have to have them.
India is still only offering 4 gold/turn for a luxury. They aren't getting it from me for that price.
Egypt has re-established two cities that I razed. But they aren't going to be contributing much to the space race so I'm not too worried about them. They will be two additional bomber bases though so the number of fighters on air superiority in that area might need to be increased.
I ran out of things to do with the workers on the Egyptian continent so I put them in Lugdunum. The next ruler can decide what to do with them. There is some work to do over on the other continent.

Well, 15 turns is all I can do.
But I did accomplish some goals that I had set. We got the UN, so we won't lose that way. We got two new luxury resources which help with happiness and finances. And Egypt's production capabilities took a hit so they won't be such a tough combatant in the space race. I wish I could have hurt India more but at least we now have a pipeline to their main production cities and can hurt them, if we need to, in the next war. But India doesn't even have Motorized Transportation yet so they are two techs behind us at this point. Egypt doesn't yet have Fission but I doubt they are too far behind us.
Good luck to the next leader, I think we are well prepared to win a space race.

CAUTION: Preferences have been set to show all movements and all animations. If you don't want em, turn em off.
