Takeo takes on Deity

The advanced tactics you use in this game has also improved my civ skills.

Glad to hear it! Everything I know about civ, I learned from someone here at civfanatics!:)

@Mirc- You will find out in the next post;)

1465-1475 A.D.

Babylon becomes hostile
Without warning, during the interturn of 1465 A.D., a Babylonian destroyer attacks my submarine which is sitting right outside their territory.
378-baba_declares.JPG

The sub is destroyed and they go on to sink a second sub, kill 9 cavalry and capture 2 workers. Fortress:Wine is attacked by 14 bombers and the civil defense is destroyed. There are several flak cannons located in the city and they shoot down 5 of the 14 bombers.

Was wondering if their destroyer just accidentally moved into my sub or if it was intentional. Then, three destroyers and a transport head towards France's western shore. Definately know Babylon's intentions now. The first thing I do is send this small force to the bottom.

Well, I wasn't ready for this. There are still 3 turns till Synthetic Fibers comes in and then another 5 turns for Amphibious Warfare. Would need several turns after that to bring in gold, upgrade everything and move all units into position. Had intended to initiate(or complete) all four objectives, in the assault plan, on the same turn.

For right now, this is what I'm gonna do-
1) Research will continue till Synthetic Fibers comes in, then will be turned off to generate cash. With access to modern armor, units will then be launched towards objectives 2 and 3.
2) Objective 1 can still be carried out. A carrier will be loaded with bombers, sent off and should be in range of Babylon's oil next turn.
3) Objective 4 can be started on immediately. All armies on the super-continent will eradicate Babylon's presence there.

A loaded carrier, with protective fleet, is dispatched towards Babylon's oil fields.

France strikes back
It takes 3 turns to raze all of Babylon's cities off of the super-continent and complete objective 4. There are still around 25 Babylonian units roaming around; consisting of infantry, tow infantry, guerillas and tanks. These pests will be hunted down soon.
Here are the cities Babylon lost and a map showing their locations.
382-new_adab_raz.JPG

407-baba_map.JPG

There were 13 bombers, caught on the ground refueling and were then destroyed, when some of these cities were razed. New Uruk(no. 11) has no defenders, cause French bombers destroyed them all.:hammer:

Babylon's black gold
In 1470 A.D., bombers are within range of Babylon's lone source of oil and the connecting roads are destroyed. The fleet will stay here to bomb all the rest of the roads on the island.

Mao the oil baron
China has a source of oil on their home island and they also have an oil colony on the super-continent.
399-china_oil_colony.JPG

Japan has it's own source of oil, so Babylon is the only nation that China could trade their extra oil to. Can't let that happen! Need to get China into an alliance, so they won't trade. It is expensive, but Mao bites.

1470-1480 A.D.

Army of Babylon
The second attempt to insert a spy in Babylon is successful and here are their army stats.
395-army_of_baba.JPG

It is a good thing that Babylon no longer has access to oil. Because, in 1475, Hammurabi starts to build the SETI program, and that means he has access to mechanized infantry. Would hate to see those 253 infantry upgraded to mech infantry. Before the war started, Babylon had over 4000g. Being in Fascism they cannot purchase anything, but they sure could spend it on unit upgrades.

Leaders
During the conquest of the Babylonian cities on the super-continent, a couple of leaders arise to help win the day.
384-de_gaulle.JPG

France is not the only nation with it's people rising to the occasion. An elite Babylonian tank attacks my infantry and the Great Leader 'Agum' makes an appearance.
411-baba_leader.JPG

Hammurabi fails to issue any orders and the new leader is cut down almost immediately. Having no cities to safely hide in can make you freeze in your tracks like that. That's too bad!

Evil and Treachery
The interturn of 1480 A.D. was a little bit of a shock, at first.
404-baba_and_jap_vs_us.JPG

It is refreshing to have war declared on me, instead of instigating war with a spy. Bring it on! Let's see what you've got. After a little mopping up of Babylonian units, all the armies on the super-continent can turn on Japan. There is nothing like waging war on multiple fronts. It can be time consuming tho.

Leftovers and Backdoors
With all their cities gone, on this continent, a few Babylonian soldiers are caught out in the open. Easy prey for cavalry armies. The small SOD is quickly erased from existance.
409-baba_units.JPG

A couple of turns ago, the city of Backdoor was settled. At this point on the map, there is only a 1-tile channel separating Backdoor from the Babylon home island. The French military will definately be making use of this(artillery can reach across the channel).;) Six Babylonian destroyers, protecting transports, try to sneak by.
408-bacdoor_missle.JPG

Artillery whittles all the enemy ships down to a single health point. Then, cruise missles finish them off with lethal bombardment! :hammer:

Science
Research is completed on Synthetic Fibers in 1480. The battlefields will now quake and rumble, with the arrival of modern armor! Research is turned off to gernerate cash.

@conquer_dude- Thanks. It actually became a whole lot more fun, once my plans to attack were disrupted and everyone started declaring war.:)

1490-1500 A.D.

Operation: Retribution

Nineveh
With 73 tanks upgraded to modern armor, last turn, it is time to turn up the heat. A small flotilla of 3 battleships, 4 destroyers, 15 transports and an aircraft carrier(loaded with fighters) has arrived outside of the Babylonian city of Nineveh. A modest army has deposited itself on the beach and will attack in 1495.
414-landing_at_nineveh.JPG

415-armies_dropped.JPG

The AFB at Marseilles West has dedicated an airwing of bombers to the assault, and pays the price.
418-bomber_shot_down.JPG

A total of 7 bombers are shot down, before any make it thru. Eventually, the civil defense and stock exchange, of Nineveh are destroyed. Four Babylonian jets are also destroyed, while on the ground refueling.
417-civil_defense_dest.JPG

The defense of Nineveh is strong, with 6 infantry and a tow infantry giving their lives for Babylon. The city is temporarily captured and then looted for a 155g(improvements sold).
419-Nineveh_razed.JPG

Nineveh is then burned to the ground, Ivory Central is founded atop some ivory and a harbor is purchased.
420-ivory_central.JPG

Ivory SOD
Hammurabi is incensed! He sends a stack of infantry to convince the French troops to leave immediately.
426-sod_outside_ivory.JPG

This greeting party looks rather intimidating, but looks can sometimes be deceiving. Most of this stack-of-doom is slow-moving foot soldiers and easy to pick off.
427-force_totals.JPG

Richelieu's grandson bravely leads the MA armies into dispatching 46 Babylonian infantry!:ar15: This causes the military advisor to now say that France is 'strong' vs. Babylon, when before the battle we were just average.

Uh, where was your artillery for that battle though? It may have made things quite a bit easier.

Artillery is not needed, a modern armor army has an attack value of 48.;)
Artys are slow and MA armies have a move of 4. They had served during their time and were disbanded for their 20 shields and to save on upkeep. Am paying over 300g/turn is upkeep and knew it would only get worse. The 20 shields per disbanded arty was used in Wonder City. Could disband 17 artillery to get 340 shields and the city itself is making up the difference to get 400. An army was produced every turn for 5 or 6 turns, while disbanding the artys. There are still a few artillery left, that are being used in conjunction with cruise missles, to sink enemy ships.

I wish that one day I'll play like you!

Appreciate that! But all I've done is watch, ask questions and learn from people here at civfanatics. Some of the greats like SirPleb, Moonsinger, DaveMcW, Qitai, Bamspeedy, Svar and many others have all added a little to what I know. The funny thing is I would say the same thing to any of them right now, that you have just said to me.:)

This is a great story, and you also encouraged me!!!!!!

If I am going to be like you, and if somebody will ask me the same question, you will certainly be on that list! I learned a lot from here.
