I'm still trundling along slowly and can only dream of the day when I have a better PC, not too long away I hope. I suppose one problem with that is that although I don't really need a quad core jobby for playing civ, I find myself thinking that it would fold really nicely, so I am probably saving up for more PC than I actually need!

I have to satisfy myself with watching everyone else rack up the points and think that it may be slow but I've contributed 30,000 points worth since we started this team.

Yeah, I know, I REALLY need the SMP client to work properly, because I have a dual-core machine and it WON'T ignore deadlines (and I can't possibly leave my comp on 24/7 in order to make them), and it WON'T remember my name or team!

I finally joined the team guys.

Arrr, welcome aboard matey to the F@H CFC Team, raise the Jolly Roger. We're headin' out sea to capture some WU's! Har har har har har.

You are what we in the Navy would call a plankowner. :goodjob:

And man, SMP clients on dual-core machines are incredible. I think I've more than doubled my ten-machine daily points rate with the addition of two machines like that.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday afternoon. He, you, and sahkuhnder are certainly leading us onward, with a couple of other top performers close behind.

Almost makes me want to try again on my MBP, if it weren't for the communications instability.

GRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've STILL been unable to transmit the results of that WU, so I just left it there, waiting for it to be transmitted. While I've waited, I've finished ANOTHER WU, which HAS been transmitted!!! DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF???????????

But, of course, there's the EVEN STRANGER part: I have been able to TELL Stanford that I've finished a WU, but now SHOW it the results! Look at my folding.extremeoverclocking.com results if you don't believe me. The logfile says it can't transmit the results of the WU finished on February 9, but I have one finished on that date.

MAKES SENSE TO ME :p

I assume you realise that the most helpful place to register your concerns is in the Stanford forums? We'll lend a sympathetic ear, of course, but no one here can fix the Stanford servers.

Just wanted you guys to know that I'm back as an active producer again. Shockingly, I still have a chance to hold on to the #5 position. That, of course, means that while I was slacking, you all were also inexcusably slacking, so knock that off! ;)

Anyhoo, I've got my laptop still with its dual-core going on each core whenever it is on AC Power. I also have a fairly new desktop that I've snuck the client onto (it's family, screw 'em if they have a problem with it, I give free tech support) that has dual core with the console client running on each core. Lastly I have an old Dell that has a 2.8GHz P4 that is running one console.

Good to be back. I see there is a new client. I'll look into that and see if it is an option for my systems.

Has anyone else had problems with F@H causing other programs to lose focus and minimize to the taskbar? Both SimCity 4 and Civ4 do this repeatedly when I launch them with F@H is running, even if work is paused. But I can restart it after launching those programs and everything is fine. I have a dual-core processor, and F@H is only running on one, so I don't know why it would be doing this.

Yeah, it definitely happens to me, to the point where I simply disable F@H when I'm on the computer.

The graphical client does this sometimes. If you switch to the console client this problem should stop.

I've only had that occur with Age of Empires 2.

I never had this occur. And i more or less regularily participte in the GOTMs.

Hm, I just got a 755 point WU. I'm currently at 23%. It will be finished in 40.5 hours of folding time. :faint:

That sounds good to me!
