Team Game #2 - OCC Conquest only

Just writing... for overall overview...

When we have stables (2xp) + barracks (3xp) + vassalage (2xp) + theocracy (2xp) we'll have 9 xp conquistadors out of the gate.

We can't have vassalage and bureaucracy at the same time. So I would go for police state (+25% military production) + state property (+10%:hammers:) + HE (+100% military production) + Forge (+25%:hammers:). A total of 160% bonus. We need 39 base :hammers: for 1 turning the conqs.

At the moment we have 19 base :hammers:. Where do we find 20:hammers:? 7 grassland workshops give 21:hammers: (with guilds + chemistry). Then we need to grow to size 13 for the needed production. Settled GP's aren't taken into account. Especially when we want to bulb our way to conqs with GS's. Even a GE could bulb Metal Casting at the moment.

Happy cap will be:
Palace +1:)
Monument +1:)
Gold +1:)
Silk +1:) (optional)
Forge +1:) (Gold)
Religion +1:)
"We just enjoy life" +4:) (difficulty level)
"Oh Yeah" +1:) (Charismatic)
Hindu Temple +1:)
That's a total of 12:)
Add to that: Confu Temple, Tao Temple and Colosseum we'll have a total of 15:). So no problem here.
We can skip Globe Theatre and Drama.

What techs are still needed?
CoL (selftech), Philosophy (bulb), Meditation (trade), Monotheism (trade), HBR, Metal Casting, Music (free Great Artist?), Calendar (trade), Monarchy (trade), Feudalism, Machinery, Civil Service, Guilds, Construction (trade), Engineering, Theology, Gunpowder, Chemistry, and Military Tradition.
Optional: Paper, Education, Liberalism. (Bulb path)

Let's turn those forests into Wonders and Buildings!!!
What do we need to build?
Great Library (350:hammers:)
Forge (120:hammers:)
Temples (80:hammers: each)
HE (200:hammers:)
Stable (60:hammers:)

Optional:
Monasteries (60:hammers: each)
Colosseum (80:hammers:)
NE (250:hammers:)
Sankore (550:hammers: dps Stone)
University (200:hammers:)
Oxford (400:hammers: dps Stone)
Moai (250:hammers: dps Stone)
West Point (800:hammers: dps Stone)

Keep in mind we're phi so university is effectively 100h.

Thanks Fippy ;)

Okay so..
(Just dropping some thoughts)
  • We've got 336 base-:hammers: worth of forests left
  • I think that we'd better stay in Bureaucracy (the +50% hammers will be really useful throughout the game, and the +50% commerce will be useful for a while aswell). The likely future civic switches are Bureau+Slavery and PS+Theocracy. Then we can just 1-turn the HE as soon as we have a Lv4 unit. Switching to Vassalage would mean either totally skipping Bureau or having one more turn of Anarchy, none of which are desirable imo.
  • Soo this means we should keep ~90:hammers: worth of forests for the HE

I think that right now, we have two mid-term priorities:
  • Getting great scientists for Edu bulb
  • Building Oxford ASAP. Ideally 1-turn Univ&Ox. We can realistically get ~100 base natural hammers in them, maybe more (3 turns OF, wb into stables into temple, more might be counterproductive). Meaning 120 base hammers have to come from forests.
This leaves ~126 hammers worth of forests to chop other "non-essential" stuff, and I think that GLib is first on the list.

I haven't looked very deep into the save yet, so I won't play tonight, plus I'd rather take it slowly as I haven't played Civ in months.

Not sure what i did wrong with this one (so rarely plays happen), but i will continue tomo.
Will wait 1 day, play again..wait another day, and so on.
If you had an impression of this game aimed at perfection, not what i wanted.

Speed play from now on.
"I play" now means you play this day or next
(or i continue myself) -.-

Never played a OCC game, but I think this game if fun to follow. :)
I guess it's easy to get carried away by perfectionism when playing team games.

Maybe I am to blame too... with all my calculations... :mischief:

I think the basis of this game is very good and the road towards the endgame is already set. There's not much that can go wrong until we get the final necessary techs.
Warfare will be more of a challenge.

Merci for your support,
let's blame nobody and on we move :)

t103 / 300BC report, lucky we are still alive tension inside..!
Spoiler :
After picking up Mona from Stalin, we can get constuction from Sury for this

Brennus also has something for us, not a great tech but why not for old stuff.

t103 / 300BC report, lucky we are still alive tension inside..!

I guess you were listening to the BeeGees with Stayin' Alive

Wonderful turnset

What's the plan regarding the next turnset? More prechopping and pre workshopping?
If we have nothing to build should we build research or start building some units for a better power ratio or start pre building for whip overflow into university and oxford?

Merci, lol Stayin' Alive would have fit.

Pre-chopping yup (Ox next big project i think), with CS we can use another farm or 2 as i doubt we want to use workshops until they become better, and growing helps us using more later.
Oh almost forgot, we need to irrigate our wheat anyways.

Monastery is good, if research can speed up CS by 1t also good.
HBR trade would be nice for stables, we still are set on using Conqs as long as possible i assume? :)

NE hmm nopes imo, annoying without marble.
Maybe some fail gold after research for CS has been done?
Gold always helps, assisting on paying for techs or upgrading some HAs / Jumbos.
We will also need some to pay for Iron later.

I hope we get another GS (not Engi) in 5t, so we can bulb Philo and switch into Bur & Paci at once.

Busy weekend sowy,
after ~5t i had to stop cos ofc we got an Engi and cannot bulb Philo now ~~
Spoiler :
Another highlight was trading for MC, we had not enuf techs to offer so i spent some gold (got plenty earlier by selling old techs).
Spoiler :

This did fit well with finishing research for 1t faster CS this turn, and needing a new build (Forge).

Okay so..those are our current options for the Engi, if we want something rushed:
Spoiler :
Nothing spectacular.
Bur switch next turn, with no Paci available now i guess OR looks best as 2nd (and free) Civic?
Spoiler :
We not really have the food yet for Caste i think.
Next turn our workers can start building farms on the yellow circles, for wheat irrigation :)
Forest can be chopped first into forge (pre-chopped), not the best use but we need more food imo.
Spoiler :

Hmmm NE looks better now with the loss of Philo bulb,
Bur + Forge + OR would be 100% too, and like having marble without other bonuses.

Not sure about the Engi, nothing really shines out..
Ox too easy with stone, Taj would be better later but settling would give benefits now.

Not sure about the Engi, nothing really shines out..
Settling him is probably best. We still have ~40T of heavy teching left, and +6bpt with multipliers will translate into close to 1000 total beakers. And the +3h with Bureau+Forge+HE etc etc are also a big boost. Not worth a GS bulb, but still much better than rushing a wonder.

I'll take the turnset after Tonny

I agree with settling the GE. Those hammers mean less workshops needed later and those beakers will help a lot!
I was looking at the save and want to discuss some things before I hit "enter".

First:
Growing 1 pop and finishing Forge will make our city unhealthy. I suggest ending some trades in 3 turns (turn 111). I propose ending the trade with Genghis (Sugar for Pig) and Sury (3 gpt for Fish). One turn later we can probably renegotiate Silk for Gold with Sury. Another option is to cancel the deal (Cow) with Brennus and renegotiate a new deal (Fish for Cow).

Second:
As suggested... next turn Bureau + OR switch.

Third:
What will be the next tech?
I suggest going straight for Paper and Education and skip Philosophy (try to trade for it). This will open up Sankore (2 gpp/turn for scientists and 2:science:/turn for all state religion buildings) and Uni + Oxford.

Fourth:
Next build?
Finish Forge and start building NE. Afterwards we can look at how to finish Uni + Oxford fast.

Fifth:
I suggest chopping the forest 1S of Gold and start chain irrigate for Wheat.

That's it for now...
