Tech Tree Discussion

Are you catholic?
Yes. But this was mostly about the fact that "dogma" is not universally considered as bad.
And the whole article has used Dogma to replace Doctrine. Even the definition is wrong.
Sorry, but I cannot confirm that. I would rather say that the Catholic Church uses a "special" term that they got in the 5th century, if the wiki can be believed. So Dogma has the problem of being a "special term", not just of one religion, but of only one denomination.

OTOH the term "doctrine" is not without its own problems. We're not speaking about the Monroe Doctrine here (or any other non-religious doctrine). Perhaps something like "Religious Doctrine" would do.

Edit: Sorry, but I didn't see that this is the term you already proposed.

I agree that "Religious Doctrine" would be a better term for this.

Thanks

Who chnage the tech tree layout to cause you to have to scroll up or down? It was much better when it was all in one screen so you could see from top to bottom. Please change it back.
It is only at some resolutions that there is a vertical scroll or if you have a tech at y=20 or more.

There is a rounding error somewhere in the code that causes it on tech trees where y<20. Platyping is not working on Civ IV stuff any more so I doubt a fix will come.

Kind of have to disagree Hydro. This is much better.

Well the point of having it with no vertical scroll bar is so you can see them all. If we are allowing a vertical scroll bar then why are we limiting to 10 techs high? I know this opens a can of worms if we do. I am just saying some issues with techs jumping 2 or 3 columns to the right could be fixed if the tech tree was taller,

However as temping as that is I prefer to be able to see all techs in 1 column at once.

EDIT: Now it seems to be back to normal for me Very weird!

Screen resolution is what triggers it.

Neither of them are hidden both have a requirement (building) that you probably don't have. If you want to see them just unselect the "hide researchable techs" button on the tech screen.
I need to remember this too.

I think so.

Thanks, does the rest of the team agree that techs with unfulfilled requirements should be shown by default in the tree?
My vote is yes. Better to see it and see why you can't yet get it than to have it be invisible and mysterious. That's a recipe for modding mistakes as well.

I ment "hidden" as they were not in the core tech file but in two separate mod files. Luckily they did not need to be moved when I moved techs around.

You know me and my preference for stuff being in the core. These were 'test' subjects when implemented. The test seems successful to me so far. But I'd have to see if DH thinks they should be made core or if perhaps better they don't since they are still techs that may not be obtained by all civs.
