The 65-Civ Mod!

How can you forget the Khazars? =)

They were a central hub between Muslim and Christian countries.
Stopped the spread of Islam to Slavic Lands.
Converted to Judaism and allowed freedom of religion.
And were a powerful empire/kingdom up until their fall from barabarians, their terriroty comprised of a chunk of Eastern Europe, and most of land (and inland) of the caspian sea and Caucasus
Also they were Turkish in origin.

700-1000 AD

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khazar

here's a nice lengthy article on them.

I dont want to put a definite release date, but at this pace, January 15th is looking good.

So Soon? That's less than 3 weeks away. I sure hope Firaxis lifts the 18-civ max at the same time embargo on the "game" so we can fully enjoy your mod.:goodjob:

I like how people keep suggesting leaders/traits/UUs for civs that aren't in the mod, but no one helps with the ones he asks for. This is HIS mod. So once again, in my late-night boredness, I looked for Bulgarian leaders. Not nearly as challenging as the Carib, let me tell ya. I also realized that I should include some favorite civics here.

Khan Kubrat
First united the Bulgars in the mid-7th century.
Best traits would probably be Aggressive or Defiant and Expansive
Favorite civic would probably be Serfdom or Vassalage

Tsar Boris III
Ruled from 1918-1941, great popularity with the people
Best traits - Charismatic/Something, I'm not sure what...
Favorite Civic would probably be Hereditary Rule (although it's kind of overused). Nationhood would probably work too, though.

Kubrat definitely needs to be in, but I'm not sure about Boris. I was trying to find a more modern leader, but unless you want the one that implemented Communism (which wouldn't necessarily be a bad choice, except he killed a lot of people, and all he really did was follow Stalin's example), there really isn't a better one to use.

For the Carib leaders, Hyarima should probably have state property as his civic, and Anacaona should have environmentalism. These two traits cover the Carib/Taino way of life as a whole, not necessarily the individual leaders, but since Hyarima is more war-oriented and Anacaona is not, I figured it would be better this way.

With all due respect , i strongly reject your comment on VN. VN is not a splinter from China. and What history point of view ? I think most of the military history book as Wes Point USA, Naval Academy USA , Sandhurst Military Academy UK will disagree with your web based history view point. VN is not that big but we did make a text book worldwide best seller on Insurgency, Counter Insurgency, Urban warfare. It widely used in everywhere around the world from America, to Africa, From Middle East to South East Asia... we are a household name of hell in the 20th century...

VN is not that big of a country, but it still have 4000 years of culture, maybe we are not strong economically, but we did defeated China for 1000 years, USA, and France in the 20th century, and The Mongols as well....our language is not "chinese like" like others country in the region, we use alphabetical letter...

Not a lot of country in Asia could experience the same kind of history that VN did.

Today VN have almost 90 millions population,50 ethnics, 1 chinatown only, 90 % of population is Vietnamese, an army of 800000 man. Economically growing strong and fast despite following the communist regime.

For Fun, VN also make the title of a serie of PC Game : Viet Cong

if u want to talk about history please be correct, find some good true boring history book, dont point out some web link and conclude your ideas based on it. If we are splinter from China, we were death for a millenium, 1000 year of war against China , 1000 years of cultural resistance against the chinese culture. Once for all, we are not chinese, from biological anatomy to thinking to culture and letter....

How come Vietnam is not big enough? As the matter of fact Vietnam is the biggest country in SEA mainland. They also dominated the region for hundred years. In their early days, Vietnam fought uncountable wars with civilizations from the nord like China, Mongol, Manchu, ... to prevent their expansion (people from other countries in the region might wonder how could they keep their own cultur without fighting a single war with warmonger like Chinese, the answer is Vietnamese did it for them) and after that, they started their own expansion campaign to the south, conquered Champa Kingdom and made Khmer, Lan Xang, etc ... their vassalstates. In the past, SEA people had been living in fear they could end up being Vietnamese and it could have been the case, had the French not come in time. The first ever university in SEA Quoc Tu Giam was also built in Vietnam (about in year 1200-1300, i dont remember exactly) and still exist until today. War is an unremovable part of Civilizaion series and Vietnamese are masters of it. Not to mention the Chinese or the Mongols in their Golden Age, their victory in the Siege of Dien Bien Phu pratically ended Colonia time while the war with American proved that no civilizations are unvincible. Did other countries in the region ever defeat anyone that considers big?

I also disagree with the guy who said Vietnam is a splinter civ of China. Vietnamese are successors of the Bach Viet (which means hundred Viet tribes) who founded Dong Son Civilization near Hanoi(which has nothing in common with the Chinese Civilization which founded near Jangtze River) but its influence covered from South China to the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesia archipelago. Or i would say South China And The Whole South East Asia Are All Parts of Vietnamese Civilization.

More information about it here http://perso.wanadoo.fr/taman.sari/utilities/dongson.htm and more here about ancient vietnamese civilization and its influence in the region http://www.viettouch.com/pre-hist/dongson_drums.html

It's pity that they're not in anymore but i suggest they should be added in a smaller mod (not 65 Civ Mod) or even in the official Expansion, the place that they deserve. Btw, i would prefer the old name Dai Viet (Great Viet) and not the name Vietnam

The pic thats attached here shows where Dong Son Civilization founded and its influence

I don't include them in this version because Eastern Europe is really crowded.

Thank you for the leaders of the civs that are going in the mod. I found a couple of my own using Wikipedia and the Caribs, I use those two. I haven't done traits yet.

Look, I can't include every civ. So I decided to take out this one. Get over it.

Vietnam is definetely not a splinter off of China, but it isn't included in this edition of the mod.

Thanks, I just posted there to let Firaxis know about Issue #18. I sure hope that they patch this thing up in a future patch sometime in January. I don't think it's hard to do, but was just wondering if we're playing like 65 Civs (hint hint), when the score table comes up as we're playing, can we just scroll down to see the 65 Civs' scores? I don't have the game yet, as my computer is too old to play it, but I'll be upgrading early next year (February) so I'll be purchasing Civ 4 along with my new computer.

On the Vietnam issue, I definitively think they should be included if not in this version, in version #2 (Add another 45 Civs, so we can have 100 Civs to play with!! Yipee). Anyone who served in Vietnam or knows someone who did, would not dare leave that Civ out. Vietnam is too important to history to ignore.

Hmm, hadn't thought about that. I'll try to make the type smaller so it doesn't take up the whole screen if that happens.;)

As soon as the Mod is published, please come back to this forum as we will be discussing the Expansion Pack, adding 45 more civs to make the 100-Civ Mod.

Only 20 civs left to go!
I might have made a problem though, there might be a bug for Navajo Cities.
