The advantage of a Monarchy

I don't know about that. It seems to me, one could convince enough of US, of that thought, the rest would have to accept it.

As I said, Monarchies are basically privately owned states, while Republics are (partially) cooperatively owned. Thus, the ruler of a monarchy is above the state (a sovereign), while the ruler from a republic comes from within the state.

Pakistan, and others, seems to favour political dynasties without being expressly monarchies. Certainly most, if not all, countries maintain political elites which tend to be inheritable.

The eldest child of the Norwegian king, Märtha Louise, who would have been the heir if the inheretance rules had been changed earlier, or would get it if the crown prince dies or rejects the crown, belives that she can communicate with angels and the dead. She also married the worst person ever. She would be a horrible head of state.

Because a President is both Head of State (symbolic leader of the nation) and Head of Government (in charge of running the government). They are very difficult to get rid of when scandal hits. Had Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton been Prime Ministers they would have been dumped in a matter of weeks instead of dragging the issue out for months.

Having a president doesn't exclude having a separate head of state and government.

I'm not sure why people are making comparisons to the American and French presidents - would a comparison to the German president not be more appropriate?

I remember watching part of a debate on Question Time (?) several years ago on the future of the monarchy - a few clips were played during the show including one about the German presidency - it named the president twice or three times. Later in the debate not one of the panelists could name him.

At the end of the show the moderator jokingly said everyone of was guilty of questioning the monarchy under some Victorian act or other for even discussing it - whatever about it being unpatriotic to criticize the monarchy it's probably illegal.
