Have at it guys, since we here at CFC seem to have an affinity for singling out Christianity for the antics of any individuals throughout time who claim to be Christian (yes, even those before Christ if you like!), and hold the entire religion responsible for said antics, despite such antics being contrary to the teachings of Jesus...
I figured I would save everyone the time and effort, and concentrate all such posts into ONE thread where responsibility can be dumped...

Instead, "Ask a Christian", we'll call this one, "Blame a Christian"

Caveat: Absolutely no understanding of the Bible is necessary to comment... please, feel free to twist and turn as needed to make your point... in fact, education on the topic may actually be harmful to this thread.

Enjoy!

(Can this please be made sticky so people don't have to worry about looking for it? Nevermind, I am sure it will stay full here since attacking Christianity is fully acceptable).

Is this any different than the recent thread you started to single out Islam? Or is it the same basic premise with a different religion?

"New", not "Knew"

I BLAME CHRISTIANS FOR THAT POOR SPELLING! Okay not all Christians, although I'm sure there's a specific one somewhere that was responsible. And I'm not really that upset about it either, just humoring OP. :)

I think this is more of a "Play the victim card" thread.

OR maybe this should be considered the proper place to discuss "psychological projection", the phenomena where people tend to (irrationally) see their own flaws in others?

Poor lions - probably suffered indigestion.

Good catch! Quite embarassing! Hahahahah

I need a proof reader... religion of said proof reader is not important.

Oh them/us poor old Christians. They/we do have to take a lot of stick. I think we/they take it very well as a rule.

But hey I'm as bigoted as anyone. I just can't think of anything to say right now.

Oh yes all them stupid Christmas carols in the shops every year get right on my nerves beginning when? End of October is it? Dreaming of White Jingle Bells in a one horse open sleigh. And Slade!!!!

Poor Spelling: Xmas

Yeah Christianity sucks, but not anywhere near as much as most other religions.

I'm no true lawyer yet it would be a good idea your diety shows up so you stop wasting time speculating about them.

If they do exist then I've accomplished a great deal on my own so thanks for nothing. I blame the people who give the orders, sir.

You see guys, In America and the western world Christians are routinely killed or discriminated against because they were born christian or because they were part of the christian "race".

Christians are routinely denied marriage and equal rights in many western countries like America, the UK, Germany, France etc.

Christians have no over-whelming representation in these countries.

Christians have no voice in these countries.

There aren't any bishops in the house of lords.

Christians are routinely rejected by their family and society when they come out.

Christians were enslaved for years and brought over to America, where after they were released from slavery were subjected to terrible laws and segregation.

I could continue

Yes, because we all know that the majority never is discriminated against, especially not in countries like South Africa, Rhodesia, or those Middle Eastern Countries where the Ahi'ite minority controls everything.
Are you saying Christians in Western countries are being persecuted?

Christians in the west are literally enduring the same struggle as the Shia Muslims in Bahrain, Coptic Christians in Eygpt, the animists/christians during Darfur, Muslims and Christians in the ivorie coast, the bosniaks during the balkan wars.

(yes, even those before Christ if you like!)

No, sorry. I think that Christianity does bear some moral responsibility for portraying some OT characters as heroic or saintly.

You cannot worship something that used to be evil, call it unchanging, and then expect a moral pass.

South Africa and Rhodesia are indeed overwhelmingly Christian, but who exactly is "discriminating" against them? Other Christians? It certainly isn't Muslims as you claim.

And the Middle East is predominately Muslim while being continually persecuted and invaded by the Israeli government. But what does that have to do with Christians? The ones who committed massacres in Lebanon while the Israeli soldiers watched? Christians in that region are actually a tiny minority.

Well, to their credit, non-Christians control the power bases in those countries. Whereas in places like America, it's almost a defacto prerequisite to be a Christian to be in public office.
