Nice to see you Ekmek, you are just in time to see my thread return to its roots...

So, Benso Camillo is going well. Sort of, everything looks like it will be very easy to rig and get everything working well, I also already have a nice little background for him and the texturing is basically finished. The only problem I have right now is this, so hopefully Ekmek or somebody else can help me.

I had a very difficult time sculpting his lapel (suit collar) to fit the way I wanted his suit to appear open, eventually I decided to cut the collar in half, edit the one side and then mirror-duplicate it so that it was perfectly even. The only problem is that whenever I attach the one side to the main skeleton in order to rig it, the texture flips, see...

Unfortunately I have no idea how to solve the issue with the collar, but I had to post how awesome this LH looks already ,)
 
Did you try to flip the normals?

normal lipping should work or when you go to nifskope give the properties to both sides. man, you are rusty.

This is what I forgot to do, thanks. As far as the properties go, yeah that would work and I knew it would however wouldn't I lose the shadering if I did that?
 
Alright, well, I have another preview for everyone. I am going to post another after I check it in game, I still want to check for issues and change the texturing on the suit a bit. If anybody is around I'm open to suggestions, right now I'm thinking of making the lapel black and the suit dark grey, or the lapel dark brown (or maybe black) and the suit brown. Anyway here's what he looks like in NifSkope with my preliminary textures...

...I was also considering adding some sort of decoration/medal to him as it seems in a lot of paintings of the man he is wearing one (although those seem to be in official situations, whereas he is wearing his everyday attire in my LH). Thoughts?

This is what I call a Christmas present! Really really good, so everything else I can note here is only nitpicking (and because I'm ignorant about LH making, maybe these things will be fixed anyway in the final steps):

- will his glasses stay that opaque? It looks like he wears sunglasses.
- the beard in connection with his head's shadow make his chin look a little weird, not sure what to do about that though.
- the streaks of hair seem a little ... I don't know, out of place. Maybe some more will make it look more natural?

Anyway, I really like his everyday clothes. Adding some kind cockade or medal would probably be too much already.
 
The hair should look fine in game, the straight-on view is what is skewing the way it looks. As far as the glasses go, I am pretty sure they will not be like that in-game, if they are I can easily fix it. Finally, I am not exactly sure what you mean about the chin.

There's no colour difference between the shadow at the bottom and the beard, which makes the shadow appear as part of the beard, so that his throat appears to be an incredible tripple chin.

Not sure what to do against it.

Yeah, The_J's post covered exactly what I meant. And with your answers, even my minor worries are calmed. This is gonna be great LH, thanks already.

Okay everyone, I got it in game and it is actually working out much better than most LHs do in their first go. I just want those of you who do not create LHs to realize this is not as close to being finished as it might look. I obviously have to fix the lenses on his glasses, I am missing a few textures here and there and on top of that I haven't shadered it yet. There is also a small issue with the beard (which I have marked in red), so while this is a good preview do not expect this to be the final version. Having said all of that here he is...

...as stated previously, I might still change the texturing/coloring on his clothing. These screens are using the default Winston Churchill animations (the LH was based on Winston Churchill), I am most likely going to go with Napoleon's animations in the end, or at least a combination of the two if that works out. So, what does everyone think so far?

I know you didn't mean it this way, and I hate to pick on you, but this stuff irritates me.

This is a preview, just an example. Obviously I am aware of the fact that his eyes are bright pink.

Naturally I knew you are aware of the pink eye issue, I just wanted to mention that those are also incomplete :P

Anyway, nice previews, and your Cavour will soon become one of the best LHs provided by the community
 
Yeah, sorry for getting jumpy with you. I want to make this LH great, so I am going to take a while polishing a few rough edges on it and figuring out the animations for him. So I'd predict a week or two before release. I have also started back up on Arpad again, so that one should be out pretty shortly after Cavour is. :goodjob:
