I don't know if you've noticed, but I think whatthe LH-making-community is going to do is try to get together in some sort of "LH-making comenpdium" so we can all get up to snuff as quickly as possible. While I think it will be difficult to make them (considering how good they look, and how difficult it will probably be to set up this group in a constructive way) I think we're all pretty dedicated to honing our craft to CivV.

The real concern? Voice acting.
Since the leaders will allegedly speak to you in their tongue.

I mean I can speak some foreign languages... but I sound kinda ********. It's going to be hard getting people to record for many of the leaders the community loves.
...Like Hitler. Unless we go for like, audio recordings from him in movies and actual recordings of his speeches.
 
I don't think voice recordings will be too problematic. Think of the unit select/order voices we already have for the new civilizations here. I mean hopefully at least for the more bigger civs it wouldn't be too hard to find something.

I don't think the community "loves" Hitler... I also don't think it is hard to impersonate him. I don't know what will modding Civ V be like, but I can defenitely help with voices of Israeli and Russian leaders. I hope that Firaxis will do a good job with the voices themselves. I mean, I hope that the leaders will not only speak their nation's language, but also sound like themselves. It is important for modern leaders- if, for example, they decide to put Stalin in the game again (although I'm not too supportive of that, but who asks me...) he will not just speak Russian, but he will speak Russian with a heavy Georgian accent.
 
You never know, Firaxis might have noticed the rabid civ fanbases. Poland, Canada, and Israel (although I feel Firaxis might call them Hebrews) won't appear in the base game, but I think they have good chance of making it to the expansions.

I doubt Canada and Israel will be in Civ, but Poland has a pretty good chance of finally making it into the game.
 
To be perfectly honest, the game is starting with 18 civs, and I'm sure they'll be like two expansions and I doubt those expansions will have more than 7 to 10 at the most. Considering the amount of civs in it now, and the fact that they will probably NOT put a Native American Empire in (I'm thinking they'll go Sioux or Iroquois like past titles) I think it is pretty doubtful they'll stray from the civs that were in CivIV or any other civs that have been in past titles. But we'll see.

And since when did this turn into a CivV thread?

No offence to the Polish, but I hope not. Europe is very well represented compared to the rest of the world, there are many important civilizations that could/should be considered before more European ones.
 
Regarding Hitler, all you have to do is sound like a very angry Upper Austrian :lol: I could do that, but my accent's a combination of South Tirolean, Viennese, and generic German.

We started to update the LHs of Civ Gold with Wyz. Finally, it was needed very much :goodjob:

Can you upload your improved LHs to the database? I think they are much better than the current ones in Gold
Namely I'm speaking of your version of Collins, Henry VIII, Franco, and Topiltzin (you use him as Itzcoatl). Maybe Harun al-Rashid too
You could easily make a new section for them in the OP as "Improved LHs by me" if you don't want them to be with your totally own LHs...
Also, can you upload Hermann von Salsa?

I know these LHs are supposed to attract more people towards your mod, but honestly I don't really think any dls will depend on this. In other words, Diplomacy II will be awesome on its own, you won't need tricks like that to raise attention :D
 
Well, it has less to do with me trying to get cheap DLs for my mod than it has to do with the process of going into the game, taking a good screen-shot, cutting down that screen-shot, compressing the files, uploading them and posting them, finding a nice blurb to write etc.

So it isn't because I'm saving them for my mod, it is because I am lazy.

I'll get around to it eventually.

Or, for some leaders at least, you can use soundbites from films. Downfall comes to mind for Hitler - more than enough material to consistently use one voice, in the original language and pretty well-acted.

What about pre-phonograph leaders? I guess you have to find out some stuff using my favorite emergency resource for when I don't know something: wikipedia!
 
Sorry that I didn't point this out sooner, but I didn't notice.
There's a bit of a... don't wanna say flaw... possible messup? on Nehru.
His jacket (nehru jacket, named after him of course), has hanging collars. In reality, it's kinda like a cuff that buttons around your neck.

Like Dr Evil, who also wears a nehru jacket.

I have adressed this before, but I might as well do it again. This is, of course now known as the "Nehru Jacket," but it is not the only one he wore. I have posted the image I based him on a few times, I don't really want to do it again. I used a specific picture, where he wasn't wearing the type of jacket you posted (and had a rose in one of his buttons, which is why he has one in the LH I made). I am most likely not going to re-make it, and this is why...

...I might as well say it now...

...I have around 12 LHs left in me, and that's it. After the next 12 I make I am going to stop. Forever. I already have a few of them planned out. Requests can be made, but I won't agree to any requests other than the ones I already have. Now, I might be convinced to do more later, but as far as I am concerned as I write this I will make 12 more and that will be it....for CivIV.

EDIT: this does not include re-imaginings of my old LHs.
