There are deeply-held and genuine (albeit misguided) beliefs among many Americans that homosexuality:
A) Is against god's will
B) Is a voluntary choice
C) Will cause other people to 'convert' to being gay if gay people are allowed to be 'out' in public or participate in society
D) Will destory the fabric of society
E) Is the cause of many other social problems
F) If gay marriage is allowed, then people will soon be allowed to marry dogs and 15 women at once

And lot's of other crazy things. It's essential to understand that religion is deeply intertwined with right-leaning politics in the United States and that the right-leaning political party (the Republicans) espouse that their Christian religious beliefs should be imposed on the entire country. Many conservatives don't see a problem with this and any business or business person that follows this line of thought (such as Chick-Fil-A's founder) is a godsend to the country and anyone who is opposed to that business/individual is doing the devil's work.

Or just that people who are opposed to homosexuality also have the rights to free speech.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the right of freedom of speech only extend to the govt not doing anything and not between private citizens?

Also, you should be celebrating the boycott because it shows your precious free market in action.

Which concern is more important to you?

If I lived near a Chic Fila I would have gone on August 1st. Not because I have issues with gays but because I have issues with people (Mayor of Boston) who want to punish free speech. And that's not a confession. I'm proud

One time I burned a Swedish flag not because I hate Sweden, but because I spiteful towards the people who are rude to the WBC. I want to support free speech, too!

Confession: I'm really ****ing sick of the whole gay marriage debate (both sides).

I'm not a homophobe (or at least I don't consider myself one), but I do find homosexuality distasteful. (Yeah bash me all you want, I don't care. Keep in mind I do support gay rights, and I do support civil unions, etc. But on a personal level I find it distasteful.) (Not majorly, just a slight thing.)

I also post drunk. Well, used to. Stopped drinking.

I do enjoy some popular music.

Uh... I'm somewhat lazy.

I waste too much time the internet and find it hard to get motivated to do work. (Physical work is a different story though.)

Maybe because In N Out Wall-Mart Chick Fil-A is tasty/convenient and I really don't care what the owners' morals are?

Ah... I'm unsure to where this thread has been lead to, but I'll make a confession list for myself.

I lurk here every now and then, mostly when I feel uninformed about current events or that I haven't heard the opinions of enough liberals lately.

I usually don't post very often because I'm intimidated by the outrageously high post counts of most people here.

I always feel lost when people talk about movies or television (hence, I watch hardly any)

I have like no opinion on most political matters and just go with the least popular one to sound like the hipster.

There's all these great video games I want to play, but I spend most of my time watching random YouTube videos and on image boards.

I enjoy a lot more then I like to admit.

Unless it's completely obtuse or just noise. Though I have a soft spot for the dialup tone, it sends me to back a bit. Usually into a depressive spiral.

EDIT: Which leads me into another confession; I often (and still sometimes do) used to wish that I could be part of x-universe (for example Star Wars, or a cartoon or anything). Escapism probably.

I can't stand 90% of the crap that the radio plays, and like 98% of the top 40 songs (there are exceptions though - Jazz radio and classic rock). Some internet hits aren't all that bad though, and some popular film scores and game soundtracks are brilliant. What do people actually find in listening to radio pop music though?

What do people actually find in listening to radio pop music though?

From a production standpoint they are pretty incredible. The level of sophistication put into what sounds to the casual listener like a 4 instrument piece can be over 120 instruments in a track with 40 playing at once. The way the sounds are created and placed in the stereo field, the way they get the most punch out of the least room (pop producers and mixing engineers are like Bruce Lee with the 1-inch punch), it's all amazing in quality.

It's also fun to see how underground music feeds into pop music which feeds back into underground music. There's a ton of interplay though those who love underground music don't like to admit it.

Additionally pop songs are culturally anchoring. They mark time and experiences in life, in a shared way.
