The cossacks conversion collection 2

I disagree, mrtn. The cavalry units made from cossacks that i have seen so far looks very good, detailed and interesting, as well as personalised details per each different one. If "fixing" them to fit the civ-scale means to lose such graphicals details (like the ones seems on the sweedish hussar or the russian one : detailed different uniforms....) then is not really a very good idea. after all, is the game scale the problem.....just look at a city and an infantry (lets said : rifleman, since i think is the one that taller look), the rifleman looks bigger that the city itself......so, in a case like this....a few extra pixels bigger is no problem if it means more details and richer graphics to each different unit.

The size diference looks kinda weird, true.....but that still happens even with the units that civilization brought from factory (for saying it like that)......

well, thats my point of view. Bottom Line : they should stay on their original size (the one that the cavalry already maked has).

To help you decide, here is a size comparison for a hussar and a pikeman.
From left to right:
- Original Cossacks size
- Civ infantry size -> reduction of about 7 %
- Civ cavalry size -> reduction of about 20%
- Civ units.

The qualitiy loss is clearly visible on the pike : going from Cossacks to civ make the weapon not very nice.

Side note : for the cavalry, when reducing by 20% : the guy are the same size, but not the horse... The scale is not the same between the man and the aniùam
So I guess it would also be possible to select a 15% size reduction and try something in between

well, steph, with those pics, i strongly grab my position and stick to it. The infantry doesnt look very affected, but that size-reduced hussar...well, no good......

OUhhh..... i still believe that the hussar lose details on the second one......

but, well......your the artist.......

Two new units added : Roundshier and Polish musketeer. I've done all the infantry units for which I had Cut'n'paste. It means I will probably not add new infantry, unless new volunteers report for the job.

I will now switch to cavalry, I have a few to do ;)

OK, I volunteer !

But I am slighlty surprised : I thought some units had been copied/pasted already (such as the Arab archer....). Can you check that ?

If they need to be done you can send me (you know where) Swedish pikes, Bavarian 18th musketeer and Polish 17th musketeer.

Hope some others will volunteer too.

And thanks for your job !

The arab archer is partly done. As only one animation is missing, I'll finish it after the cavalry units.

Adn Polish musketeer is done (see the previous mail).

Beside that, I have a few cavalry done.

In fact, you are by far the main contributor to these conversions

hey, i would love to help. Unfotunatley Im a newbie, to this forum and editing civIII units. So I d need some instructions, but I m pretty sure I could get the hang of it:D

It's very simple, it is just long, to long to do by only one person, so we need to share the burden.
Basically, you need an email address that can receive and send files of about 2 to 3 Mb. Send me an email at stephane.f.david@free.fr, so I can send you the tool and the files.

If you want more units, I need copy & paster!

Guess it is the good time to ask for some more volunteers : there are only a few good units to be done (Turkish cavalry, Swedish rider,...). Not difficult !

i just want to say i love what you're doing here. especially the highlander musketman! :D i just wish more of them had civ specific colors, but i don't know how difficult that is with conversions so don't worry about it. ;)
